Addicting Emotions

Jasper’s POV

The months have passed and it’s now summer and the sun is trying to make a valiant effort to come out from behind the clouds though the clouds are winning for the time being.
Bella has come a long way in her control and can now go out into town though Edward makes sure to take her somewhere no one will recognize her so that her story isn’t blown. She is actually a lot more graceful now which Edward is pleased about because he doesn’t have to worry about her tripping off a cliff or into a road or something so he’s happy about that though I can tell he’s still sad over the fact that she didn’t get to be human a little longer because that’s what he would have wanted for himself in the same situation but Bella has wanted this for a while and I can tell he’s happy to have her with him.
Charlie and Elizabeth are getting pretty into their relationship and Evie often complains about them kissing in front of her though I can tell she’s happy for them and hopes that soon Charlie will propose.
Evie and I are as close as ever and rarely do you find us apart, I’m always at her house or she’s here with us though it’s usually at my home because Charlie is still rather uncomfortable with the knowledge of vampires though Elizabeth is very accepting and is just happy that Evie is happy. Evie is like my heart, the thing I don’t actually have any more and doesn’t beat, she is it. I can just sit for hours staring at her and I actually do when she falls asleep though often she’ll just out of nowhere with her eyes closed say
“Jaz stop staring at me and lay down, at least act human for me” though it was always with humor and I would do as she said and she would snuggle up. It always amazed me when she did considering how cold we are and she would say that she was always warm so she needed me to cool her down.
Today she was spending the day with her Mom and while I didn’t really want to be away from her I knew that she needed the time so I was sat at home and therefore there when a messenger appeared at the door.
A small blond haired vampire stood in the door when Esme answered and we all heard her from our places in the house when she asked
“what is a member of the Volturi doing here?” we all rushed downstairs and were at her side in seconds though Edward had made Bella stay upstairs. The girl, Jane, smiled and asked
“would you invite me in?” Esme hesitated before letting her in being the ever polite person she is. Jane came in and looking around she took in the surroundings before she looked at us and asked
“where is Carlisle?”
“He’s at work” Edward answered and Jane chuckled
“ah yes the hospital, well I guess I shall tell you without him” she straightened a little and said with self importance “Aro has sent me here to let you know that he will be visiting with a few choice members of his guard to see personally that Bella has been changed into a vampire for word of it happening got to the Volturi and Aro would like to see the results for himself” the collective thoughts of everyone was
“oh damn!” though for me it was a lot more explicit, I couldn’t let them know about Evie. Esme smiled at Jane and said
“thank you, we will be ready, is there a particular time he will be arriving?” Jane smirked and said
“tomorrow I would guess” I near enough flew from the room but held myself still and Edward glanced at me before he walked to the door and said
“we’ll see you tomorrow then Jane” Jane glared at him before she walked back to the door though she paused and looked at a picture on a table by the door before she walked out of it and Edward shut the door behind her.
We waited until she was out of hearing distance then I panicked
“I have to get Evie away from here” Edward walked over and placing his hands on my shoulders he said calmly
“Jasper they are here to see Bella and we all know that Aro can’t read her, we’ve all seen her shielding power as well” I nodded because we had, it had become apparent when Bella and Evie were talking about a surprise for Edward and he kept trying to read Evie’s mind and Evie got upset by it and Bella had created a shield around Evie or rather expanded her own to encompass Evie as well. I calmed myself and asked
“what if he reads anyone else?” Edward shrugged
“then we deal with it like we dealt with him before but in all likely hood he won’t go near any of the rest of us, he’ll want to know about Bella no more” I nodded and I was calmer but I still didn’t like their coming and Edward knew it so he just smiled lightly and then walked past me and up the stairs to see how Bella was doing and to tell her of what was happening though she had heard the whole thing.
Rosalie walked over to me and smiled
“don’t worry Jasper, I’ll kill anyone who touches her for you” Emmett came up behind her and placed his hands on her hips with a grin
“yeah Jasper don’t worry about it we’ll deal with anyone who tries” I nodded and smiled my thanks before they moved off. Esme just smiled and kissed my cheek before she walked off and I made my way upstairs to my study to think it over and worry some more about tomorrow.
