“Claire, Claire! Wake up!” I heard John’s voice next to my ear

“Go away John I’m still freakin’ sleepy you dumb ass!”

“Oh come on Claire, do I have to use my super power?”

“DON’T! Fine, fine. See? Thank you very much, I’m awake now because of you” I said sarcastically

“That’s my girl” he gave me a big grin and hugs me really tight

I’m still sleepy and John’s ruining my good sleep but it’s my fault though, I went to bed around hmm, 3.30 A.M because I have to finished my art project, and my teacher is a killer teacher sheesh. I also totally forget about our routine every Sunday so I directly changed my PJ’s into my black skinny and checkered shirt; I went inside the bathroom and washed my face then brushed my teeth.

Well you maybe wondering why John is in my house today. It’s Sunday, every Sunday we always go to the park for breakfast. It’s like our routine since we were umm, 8? Well he’s 3 years older than me though. He is my best friend and also my childhood friend, guess what? I’m also his secret admirer. I have a crush on him since the first time we met. Love at the first time? So yes.

“You’re ready?”

“Of course silly” he giggled. Oh my gosh, he is so cute when he giggles and it really turns my face into bright red

“Let’s go get some food!” he grabbed my hand and pulled me right away to his car. You may think he’s 18 or 19, but to tell you the truth he’s 21. Yes 21.

John is really hyper and don’t ask me when he drunk he can be more hyper real hyper. I sat on the passenger seat and he sat on the driver seat, he turned on the engine and started driving. When I realize we’re not heading to our usual place

“John, where are we going?” I asked while opening a pack of gummy bears that I took from the refrigerator before we left

“Secret” he winked. I think he’s up to something

“You’ll know” he gave me another wink and smiled

“Stop winking! You look like a pervert if you keep winking at me” I smacked his head.

I think he got too much teenage hormones that’s why he’s a bit you know, maybe not a bit. Never mind because he is so adorable when he winks.

I fell asleep because it’s already almost 1 hour and we’re not arrived at the destination yet. Suddenly John’s car stopped, I woke up then I look around. He really is brought me to another place. I seriously don’t know what on his mind, because he brought me to a basketball field, again a basketball field. He used to be a basketball player though; he’s really good in basketball. I used to watch him play with his teammates.

“A basketball field?” I asked him with one of my eyebrow raised

“Yeah a basketball field. I haven’t play basketball for ages man! I still got skill you know”

“Oh reaaaaally?”

“Of couuuuurse” he whined

“Okay then, show me your skill John O’Callaghan,” I said pressing the word skill.

He went near to the basketball ring and took 3 basketball balls. Then he went to the 3-point shoot area or whatever it is. He took the ball and started to shoot

“Score!” he shouted. Hmm, I’m still amazed with his skill. He always threw the ball perfectly, directly to the basketball ring. He’s a genius in basketball

“It’s still a warm up you know” said John while he continue throwing the ball

“Well, I’m really amazed. You still have your skill huh?”

“Of course, I forgot to say. Every time I score a point I have something to say to you Claire” suddenly his voice become calmer and more serious

“Oh-kay” he started to shoot, and again he score a point.

“Score. I” and he shoot again

“Score again. Love” and for the third time, he score a point again

“Score. You” my eyes were wide opened, my jaw dropped, speechless and my face turned so red as red as tomato.

“I love you” he said it again. Great, he made me so speechless and my heart beats so fast. Even faster than after running 10 laps. Gosh

“And happy birthday Claire Samantha Johnson, I bet you forget about your birthday today” he laughed and he gave me his sweetest smile ever! He took a slice of blueberry cheesecake from his car, which I didn’t realize the whole time there’s a blueberry cheesecake in his car and a small bouquet of sunflower. And how in the world I could forget my own birthday.

“Your favorite cake and your favorite flower, hope you like my surprise. Happy 18th birthday Claire” he smiled and kissed my forehead, then I smiled back at him

“You know, I think this is the best birthday present ever”

“So you like it right?”

“Like it? I LOVE it John!” without thinking I ran to him and hugged him really tight until both of us fell.

“This is awkward, I mean the position. But I like it” he smirked

“You such a perv!” I tried to pulled away from him

“Just kidding, you can hug me as long as you want Claire” I didn’t say anything. I just smiled

“One more thing…” he put his hand inside his pocket and try to search something

“What is it?”

“Close your eyes, it’s another surprise” he winked. Just like he said, I closed my eyes and I can feel John’s breath near my neck. Then suddenly he put something around my neck.

“You know I really love you, I just never have a courage to tell you how much I really love you Claire. For me you’re perfect. And Claire, do you want to be my girlfriend?” he whispered with his soft voice.

I can hardly speak, I just nodded and I can felt my tears started to came out from my eyes. Tears of joy yes tears of joy people. I gave him a second nod with a smile on my face. He smiled back.

He wiped my tears, he put both of his palms on my cheek, and he’s getting closer and closer and closer. He started it with a soft kiss on my cheek then he moved his lips closer to mine. Our lips touched.

This is the first time our lips touched. And it’s the most passionate kiss ever. I can feel that my heart stops beating, I can feel that I’m running out of breath, I can feel that my face is really red. But on the other side I don’t want this moment to end

“I love you John. I really do” I whispered and smiled

“I love you too sweetheart” he smiled back

I guess this is the prefect birthday present I’ve ever had and the prefect day ever
