Afterlife

The Escape

Disorientation was taken to a whole new level, then. Chaos surrounded Kiya, though; she couldn't hear a thing, her transparent coffin shutting out any noise that dared interrupt her eternal slumber. But one thing was loud and clear, it was the sound of a man's voice, he was whispering her name louder and louder. That was the key to her freedom, but something was unsettling her. Something was making her stir with desire and thirst.

The human girl, yes. The blood pumping through the small being caused great commotion in Kiya's body, she couldn't help but beam at the sight. Finally, she was going to quench her thirst. Her hands darted forward, but an invisible shield forbids her any movement of approach upon the frightened girl. She hissed under her breath, every movement agony in her blood deprived body. Too much time has passed; she needed to quench her thirst before death reclaims her immortal body. Kiya’s balled fists pounded against the invisible shield Ra had placed between her and the human girl. Anger boiled in her skin as her futile attempts to destroy the shield came out being… futile. Hope began to die and she retreated frightened. Was this the trial of the afterlife? Where was Anubis?

Desperate eyes skinned the room she was held in. A man with peculiar eyes stared right at her; she couldn’t help but leap back and helplessly slide into a sitting position. Ra had sent this God to execute her, but what God is he? Eyes as clear as the sky, and hair as dark as the shadows… maybe another son of Ra no one knew about. But that’s not possible, nor probable.

“Who…?” she asked in a hoarse voice, her eyes itching towards the human girl.

“You want her, don’t you?” the heavenly man whispered, his eyes shining with mischievousness. Kiya nodded her head with a short movement, her throat demanded blood. She was ready to give in into her cravings, she was more than ready, and she was dying to.

Her right hand weakly touched the invisible barrier, causing a low hiss to escape her lips. Time was all she needed, but time was something she foolishly wasted in waiting. Her eyes dragged themselves towards the girl, whom was retreating in fear. All the other people that filled the exposition room were already gone. Only the human girl remained, paralyzed under Kiya’s entrancing eyes. Though, such enchantment was starting to wear off, and the girl was slowly regaining free will.

Kiya shot the sky-eyed creature a begging look, her face etched with nothing but fear. If she didn’t receive blood in another hour or so, she was going to meet her demise. And the gods, who were feverishly waiting for her, were already looking forward to her final breath. She would never give in so easily, she was ready to fight. Ready to do everything needed to survive. Begging and killing was just the beginning.

The man that stood before her wore peculiar garments, in fact, he looked extremely silly. Though, Kiya could only think about survival, and that didn’t involve clothing. Finally the man moved, his movements sluggish in the eye of Kiya. She was ready to snap off his head, but hesitation clouded her mind. Realization dawned upon her. At the same time the barrier cooping her in suddenly shattered.

The girl was finally free from Kiya’s hypnotic look, but it was too late. The parched vampire was already tearing the human’s flesh, when she noticed her short termed freedom. The girl tried to scream, but blood flowed out of her mouth like a beautiful waterfall, staining her ripped shirt crimson red. The human was so naïve that she even tried to push the fanged creature away, to no avail. Her chest was half-way open, revealing her insides like an art display. In the eyes of, both, Kiya and the stranger, the sight of a dying girl was normal. Something they had to deal with every single day, though, not as bloodthirsty as today.

The girl finally succumbed to the pain and went limp, while the creature on top of her sucked away her blood. In just a few minutes, the girl had already perished, but her blood did not satisfy the parched vampire. Now Kiya was thirsty, her critical state already something from the past.

“We have to leave,” a male voice warned Kiya. She stood up straight, her face and body stained with fresh blood. She stared into those sky-colored eyes, and recognition flared within her. She kneeled down before him, like a humble servant she’d become. Even though the man had saved her from an eternal slumber, she couldn’t bite back the bitterness that burned in her words.

“Thank you, Master.”

Her voice wasn’t hoarse or raspy, it was bitter yet clear. The man didn’t even take his time to acknowledge her actions; he simply turned around and left. Kiya had no other option but to follow, her surrounding being more foreign than anything she’s seen before.

“William, I heard the alarm- who’s she?” a man, about the same height as William –that’s her master’s name, as she recently found out- approached both of them. It was then that she noticed the odd accent both of them had. The language they spoke in was foreign, and by some sort of sorcery she knew how to speak it. At that sudden thought she started to panic, how much time did she sleep?

“Kiya,” William kept the conversation short. He rudely shoved his friend aside and walked towards the nearest exit. Kiya stood there frozen; she started to notice her surroundings. It was overwhelming, to say the least.

“Come, follow me. My name is Jonathan, by the way,” at that moment Jonathan grabbed her hands, and gave her a reassuring smile. She didn’t know if she could trust him, but at that moment she wanted to cry like a lost little girl. She squeezed his hands and followed him, not daring to look away from his back. She was silently praying to the gods that hated her, somehow hoping that they would show some kind of mercy. But all she got was a near heart attack, if she could have one.

Noises overwhelmed her head, just like the cold that suddenly crawled into her skin. She stopped walking and stared wide-eyed at Jonathan, who gave her a sympathetic look. A small whimper escaped her lips as she closed her eyes, wishing for death to take her away. The smell that suddenly entered her nostrils was so disgusting and unfamiliar; she wanted to slice away her nose at that moment. Her eyes were closed, so she couldn’t see the horrors that passed before her. Though, her ears picked up everything around her, it was though she was indeed dead. Every noise was so strange, she didn’t know if she should feel curious or frightened.

“Jonathan, hurry, the cops are coming!” William barked and a gentle hand guided her towards a disgusting smelling object. Her eyes flew open and a bloodcurdling scream shot out of her mouth. Never in her life did she feel so scared, the thing that was stationed before her induced such terror in her. She started to back away from the monster, her hands trying to grasp anything around her. It only turned out to be another dormant monster, ready to eat her. She screamed again, but this time a hand clamped her mouth shut.

Kiya was forcefully shoved into another box, but her eyes were covered so she couldn’t really see anything. She hugged the man named Jonathan, and clung to him as if her dear life depended on it. What came next was even more horrifying than the monster she saw before.

It was a good thing that vampires couldn’t throw up.

Excuse my lame description of her horror. If you haven't figured it out, she was staring at a car. Yeah, the next chapter will be in Jonathan's point of view, just saying....

Sorry for the late update, really, I can come up with 10 excuses. But, that's what they are.... excuses.
