Believe Me I'm Lying

Jonathan kicked the ball around the grassy field. The rest of the guys were meant to get here within the next few minutes, and Jonathan couldn't help but feel that trouble was on it's way. He was psyched about the match, he couldn't wait to play football (soccer) with the guys, but he somewhat felt that there was something in store for him. Something that might just cause him to go overboard.

He waited patiently, the sun beating down and causing him to grow warm. He reached for the bottom of his hooded top, pulling it up and over his head. He threw it down beside his rug sack and ruffled his brown hair around before looking up to be greeted by Austin and Marc. Ashley and Bonnie were on their arms, cuddled into their boyfriends as they made their way over to the pitch before them. Jonathan smiled and nodded his head acknowledging his band mates and their girlfriends.

"Heyyy Jonathan!" Ashley shouted and Bonnie gave him a smile and went to sit on the bench, the pair already deep in conversation. Marc and Austin dumped their bags down, quickly removing any outdoor clothing that would cause them to grow warm.

"So, you ready for the game? I heard the girls want to play?" Austin said, laughing as he watched the two girls give them a wicked grin and wave their hands. They were high-maintenance, but the boys knew they could hold their own if they wanted to play rough.

"I guess so!" Jonathan chirped and ran a hand through his hair. "But there's six of us, who else is playing with them?"

As if on queue, Caleb and Kyle appeared, their roaring laughter caused everyone to look at them. Jonathan couldn't believe his eyes, as if nothing had even happened yesterday, Chloé was already cuddling into Kyle, their blonde hair matching and the smiles on their faces said it all. They were dating. They were dating within 24 hours of Jonathan and Chloé ending anything that could have possibly happened.

Caleb and Kyle walked towards the grassy turf, Chloé, Jade and Cheryl walking close to them. Chloé avoided eye contact with Jonathan as she approached, obviously scared in case anything kicked off. The girls said hello to Austin and Marc and walked past Jonathan, making their way to Ashley and Bonnie. Jonathan stood their, his mouth left hanging open.

"Did... Wait, woah," Jonathan said as he shook himself from his daze. "Wait..." He turned to look at Kyle who was looking at his feet, obviously too embarrassed to look at his best friend. "You just walked here with Chloé... On your arm," he growled. Kyle looked up, his green eyes looked puzzled and apologetic.

"You weren't dating her, so I had every right-"

"You had no right! You knew fine how I felt about her!" Jonathan screamed at him. Kyle winced and then shook his head, regaining his composure.

"Bullshit, Jonathan! If you felt the way you say you do, then you would have done anything to stop her from making her decision and walking out! You don't care about anyone other than yourself," Kyle snarled. Jonathan narrowed his eyes and stepped forwards, ready to take this argument to the next level. "Go ahead, we'll just realise that you're all talk anyway."

Jonathan raised his arm, but Marc grabbed a hold of it, shaking his head as he looked Jonathan directly into his eyes. "Don't do it," he whispered and Jonathan felt a rush of emotion run over him.

"Whatever, let's just get this match started," he growled and Caleb bit his lip, watching anxiously as the girls stood up, making their way over. He walked over to Jade, his auburn haired girlfriend's face lit up, but soon was covered in confusion as she saw Caleb's worried expression.

"What's wrong, babe?" She asked, pecking his cheek and standing in front of him. Caleb pouted and looked at her with sad eyes.

"I think today's match is going to be slightly crazy with a few tantrums and turns of tackle showers..." He said sarcastically. Jade laughed and stroked his face.

"Don't worry, today's forecast looks fine from where I'm standing," she looked past Caleb and watched as her girl friends stretched and got ready. Jonathan was standing beside the bags shouting obscenities at Austin. "And if he tries anything, we've got a few tricks up our sleeve as well!"

Caleb gulped, his breath getting caught in his throat. "Oh dear..." He whispered and turned around to his band mates, praying to himself that the game goes well.

Jonathan lay on his bed, looking up to the ceiling above him. How could he have been so stupid to try and tackle one of his own team mates? He knew he was angry with Kyle, but he shouldn't have attempted to tackle him. It didn't matter in the slightest though, at the end of the day, it was Jonathan that sprained his wrist. He had damaged the muscle and was now wearing a removable cast, due to no other fault than his own.

"Kyle! KYLE!" Jonathan screamed, waiting for his team-mate to take notice and pass to him. Kyle looked up, but soon ignored Jonathan, realising who was shouting on him. "KYLE! I'm wide open, pass over here!" He shouted.

The girls were proving to be difficult to beat. Austin stood at the side, keeping track of what was going on. He just
had to be the referee.

Jonathan decided to take matters into his own hands, he ran up to Kyle and went in for a dive, trying to take the ball off of him. But out of no-where Chloé appeared and tripped him up. Whether it was on purpose or not, nobody could tell apart from her. Jonathan slipped and fell, crashing into Kyle and landing on his wrist. He screamed out in pain, and Kyle lifted himself of the ground, dusting any parts of mud off of him.

"What are you playing at?!" Kyle screamed and watched as Chloé ran down to the opposite end of the field with the ball. Austin faked a whistling noise, and everyone stopped, waiting to see what the commotion was about.

"You should have passed to me, I was wide open!" Jonathan screamed. Kyle shook his head.

"Look, man, just get over it. She's with me now," Kyle growled and turned to walk away. Jonathan laughed and shook his head this time.

"It's got fuck all to do with that," he shouted and Kyle stopped in his tracks.

"No, it's probably not," Kyle started, and turned around. "It's just cause you're a fucking jealous idiot," he snarled.

There was a knock at the door, and Jonathan jumped from his memory, sitting up as he welcomed whoever was at his door. Caleb's red head popped in and Jonathan groaned, rolling back down. He half expected to see Chloé; racing in to see how he was, crying over how stupid she was to end anything they had and that she wanted him back. But that was just a little fantasy Jonathan got lost in.

"How are you doing?" Caleb asked, there was a hint of bitterness in his voice, but Jonathan couldn't help but laugh at him.

"I've just hurt my wrist... Badly," Jonathan began and sat up, looking at the younger boy. "How do you think I feel?"

"...Sore?" Caleb asked childishly. Jonathan laughed and went to ruffle Caleb's hair. Their old ways kicking in.

"You betcha," he said and turned to look out his window. The summer nights were slowly fading away and being replaced with a much cooler autumn. Jonathan loved this time of year, but he hated the mess that the leaves made.

"Anyway, we're all going out for tea tonight," Caleb began. He waited for Jonathan to look at him again, scared of what the answer might be. "And you've been invited, as long as you don't start any trouble!"

Jonathan laughed and looked at his friend.

"Okay, I promise I won't."

It was just then that Jonathan realised; he needed to stop being an ass and apologise, whether it was to Kyle, to Chloé or to both. And at the same time, he needed to win Chloé back, and there was nothing he wouldn't do to get her.
