I sat up and blinked a few times.
I groaned as I was blinded by the lights of the sunrise.
I threw my legs over the edge of my bed, and shrieked as my feet came down on someone.
“OW!” The voice sounded from the floor.
“Oh, Noah, I’m sorry! I didn’t know you were there, “I apologized quickly.
He put his hand up, before pushing himself up off the floor.
“Are you okay?” I asked, as he sat on my bed.
He sighed, and looked at me.
“Not really, but the question is, are you okay?” He asked, putting his arm on my shoulders.
I thought about yesterday, and shook my head.
“How many times has that happened?” He asked, looking in my eyes.
“Once or twice before, “I muttered.
“Right, well, that pervert is getting his ass fired, “he said, shaking his head in disgust.
I just looked at the floor.
“Hey, look at me, “he demanded.
I looked up at him.
I don’t know how we’re related.
We look nothing alike.
He’s got deep brown eyes, and mine are an ugly grey.
He’s got eye-length bangs, and I don’t have any.
His hair is a blackened-brown color, and mine is plain brown.
We just don’t look at all alike.
He’s a bad boy, and I’m the nerdy geek.
He’s the boy everyone wants to be with, whether as a friend or otherwise.
I don’t even really have but 3 friends…
“Hey, “he said, snapping me out of thought.
I looked at him, and sighed.
“Cara, I love you. You are my sister, but above all, my best friend. I’m supposed to protect you, but how can I, if I don’t know? I am going to take care of this, and nothing is going to happen to you. You know that I will protect you, right?” He asked, bringing my hand to his heart.
I nodded, and leaned my head on his shoulder.
“I love you, Noah. You are my best friend, and that is something that I hope never changes, “I said quietly.
“It will never change, “he replied, locking our fingers together.
The days that followed were hell.
Somewhere in the storm, I got burned.
