Confessions Of A Broken Rebel

11- How Dare You Be Polite

"So, let's see here." Veronica pulled two pairs of skinny jeans(dark gray with red stitching and a pair that was black with white ribbons up the legs) out of a Hot Topic bag that Brady and I had gotten from the mall. She then laid them out on my white comforter and rummaged through my closet. "Hm..." She tapped her chin. "Ah! Here we go!" She grabbed a white shirt with Jack Skellington on it and sally in the bottom corner staring dreamily up at him. "Wear this!" She said handing me the black pants with ribbons and the t-shirt. I smiled at me and raised her eyebrows quickly and ran to my closet again. She looked through the shoes until she found black, white, and aqua converse and shoved them at me. "Go get dressed!" She smiled. I went into the bathroom, shutting the door carefully behind me. I stripped down to my underwear and pulled on my outfit. I thought it was really cute. I noticed that the scabs on my arms had pretty much fallen off but deathly-pale scars were left behind. I grabbed some make-up from one of the black cabinets and lightly put some cover-up on my arm which covered them nicely without showing a huge difference in color. I smiled and walked into my bedroom. "Sit!" She ordered, leaning against the chair in front of my small vanity desk. I sat in the chair for what seemed like an hour as she put some lotion on my face and lightly dusted my face with a little cover up, a smidgen of blush, and re-applied my eyeliner. She made sure everything looked even and then continued to do my eyeshadow, mascara, and lips. The eyeshadow was a light brown which brought out my blue eyes, then put a little bright blue eyeshadow just around the eyeliner and put a pale pink color on my lips. She styled my hair a little, spiking it in the back and straightening up my bangs. "Here you go." She turned the chair around so I could look in the mirror. I was shocked at the sight before me. I never really wore any make-up but my darker blue eyes shown spectacularly and I really looked nice. I smiled and gave her a hug. I didn't say anything though. All I could remember was when I was little and my mom caught me in the bathroom, red lipstick smudged on my cheeks and chin from where it strayed from my lips and it looked like I soaked my hands in red nail polish from my obscure painting. She cleaned me up and did my make-up for me, just putting on a little mascara, a little blush, and clear lip gloss. "There, you look beautiful." She said. I remember I was so entranced looking at the mirror that she finally laughed and said, "It would last quite a while longer if you took a picture rather than standing there for another five minutes gawking at yourself." I giggled loudly and hugged her. Veronica held the same look that my mother did, a wide smile, her eyes shining. "What's wrong?" She asked, her smile faltering. "Nothing! Nothing's wrong. But, you don't know how much this means to me- to have someone willing to spend time on me, someone who smiles at me the way you do- the way my mom did." I smiled at her and engulfed her in another hug. "It really means a lot." She rubbed my back gently. "I know." She pulled away slowly and stroked my hair gently with her hand. "You're gonna be late, let's get you downstairs." I smiled and let her lead me by the hand to the front room. "Angel, did we have-" Brady stopped short as I turned around to face him. "You look...beautiful!" He said. "Thanks Brady!" I smiled. The door bell rang and I spun around to open the door. "Hey!" I smiled as I saw Tyler. "Wow, you look...amazing!" I smiled and Veronica chuckled in the background. "Don't wait up for me." I smiled back at Brady and Veronica reassuringly. I walked out onto the porch and shut the door behind me. I hugged Tyler. "Ready?" He asked I nodded. We walked down the driveway and he jogged ahead of me and opened the door for me. "Thank you!" I smiled and climbed in. He shut the door behind me before climbing in himself. "I'm missing the cycle." I laughed. "Awww I'm sorry." He smiled. We drove about ten minutes to an awesome amusement park. I stared in awe at all the rides. "Well, come on!" "How long are we going for?" "As long as we want! They're open all night!" I shrieked in delight. We bought tickets at the front gate and walked through the entrance. The guy standing there was about our age with black spiky hair with blonde highlights and warm, brown eyes. He smiled crookedly and handed us a map. A returned the smile and thanked him. Tyler grabbed my hand rather roughly and dragged me kind of quickly. "Whoa! What's with the speed burst?" "He was looking at you." He growled. "Well of course, he had to hand me the map." I replied confusedly. "That's not what I meant. He was checking you out." "Tyler, he was being nice! It can't be too much fun standing there and I was probably one of the only people who entered this park who acknowledged him. I just smiled and he smiled back, it's okay, don't freak about it." I said kissing his cheek. He relaxed a little bit but his eyes still looked a little annoyed. "Come on, lets go on the...aqua drop. The name is kinda corny but it looks like fun." He smiled a little and agreed. We went on that and got pretty soaked, and then continued on other roller coasters and decided to get a bite to eat. We grabbed a burger from a little place near the west end of the park. We talked casually about school and the kids there. We laughed at the teachers and about different things that happened in the classrooms. The door opened to the little restaurant but I didn't notice until I heard the guy waiter talk to him like they were old friends. "Hey Brett!" The waiter walked over to the guy and I noticed over Tyler's shoulder that it was the guy at the entrance, the one with black hair and blonde highlights. He smiled at me and gave a little wave. I waved back quickly and Tyler slowly glanced over his shoulder and Brett's smile quickly dropped as he caught Tyler's glare and looked away, back to his friend. "What the hell are you doing?" He growled quietly but none the less, fiercely. "I'm saying hi." I replied, staring Tyler down coldly. "Well don't. He's looking at you like he likes you." He said accusingly. "Well, I hope he doesn't hate me. I don't mind when people like me. I like friends." I retorted, highly sarcastic. "This is ridiculous." He said. "Look, I'm sorry. I don't want to make you mad but seriously, I'm just saying hi! It's not like I'm flirting with him or giving him my number." I tried to reason. "Whatever. Are you finished?" He asked, glancing at my plate. "Yeah, let's just leave." We stood up and paid and left a tip on the table. As we walked out, we passed by Brett and I gave him a little apologetic half-smile to which he smiled back and gave me a little shrug. We walked out and found that there were a lot less people in the park. "So what do you want to do now?" I asked. "Well, let's go on the Gold Miner. Sound like fun?" He asked. I smiled and nodded. As we waited in the relatively short line I nudged his shoulder a little. "Tyler, I didn't mean to make you mad back at the restaurant. I just thought it would be polite to wave to him, I didn't know it would be such a big deal." I said. "It's okay, I guess I overreacted a little." He took my hand in his and kissed my cheek. "Next!" The woman said, bored. She checked our wristbands and then waved us through. "Thanks." I said and she smiled at me. A lot like Brett did. "D*mn it!" "What?" I asked Tyler as we pulled the harness down over our heads. "She likes you too!" I laughed and he chuckled. "You're amazing." He whispered. I was about to reply when the roller coaster jerked forward. The roller coaster couldn't even give me the butterflies that Tyler gave me and the whole time on the roller coaster, my hand was laced with his. After another ride or two, it was late, almost 3:00 in the morning. We walked out of the park and climbed into his car and headed for my house. "Thanks Tyler. I really had a fun time." "Me too. We should definitely do this again." I nodded and gave him a hug and a quick kiss on the lips. I pulled away quickly with a large smile on my face and jogged to the front door. I waved to Tyler as I opened the door. He waved back and I slipped in the doorway and closed it gently behind me. "Mm." I heard a quiet groan. I turned and looked to the left to see Brady asleep in a large white chair. His eyes fluttered open and I walked over to him. "Your home!" He said but it sounded more like "yo-ome." "What are you doing?" I asked quietly. "I was waiting." I smiled a little and shook my head. "Alright, come here." He leaned on me and we walked up the stairs until we got to our floor. I balanced his weight on my shoulder with my arm around his back and quietly pushed the door open. He stumbled in and I got him into his bed and pulled the covers over him. "Night Brady." I smiled and kissed his forehead. By the time I said it, he was almost all the way asleep because he mouthed "Night" but the sound never came. I went into my bathroom and wiped off my make-up and brushed my teeth and pulled on my pajamas. I stretched out in bed and fell asleep. I dreamed of me, sitting in the shallows of the ocean, the waves were little but when up to my shoulders as I sat cross-legged in the sand. The water would swarm around me and I kept seeing a reflection in the water above my right shoulder but I couldn't see who because the water was too dark. But whoever it was, gently picked me up and put me down on their lap and we sat in the water's path, letting the water roll over us. That was all I remember before waking up around 12:00 that afternoon. I stretched and leaned over to look at the time and saw a small plate of food next to the alarm clock which read 12:07. The plate had bacon, eggs, and french toast. I sat in bed, taking small bites of my food until it was gone. I stretched out and Brady walked in. He looked pretty refreshed despite the fact that he slept in a chair. "Morning." I said but my voice was very raspy. Brady chuckled and leaned over to hug me. "Morning." He said, mimicking my voice. "Oh, haha, funny!" I smiled fakely. "Oh, I'm just kidding. I smiled and chuckled. "So, how'd it go with Tyler." He said it some-what reluctantly but with a little bit of sincerity. "It was good, but it was a little rough." I told him what happened and waited for his opinion. "He's soo jealous. Hey! You know what?" He looked excited, like a little kid about to open his birthday presents. His face lit up and a wide grin stretched across his face. "Hm?" I asked. "You should date that guy instead!" I groaned and let my body fall back on my bed. "We're not dating, he's not jealous, and you're not helping!" I whined. "Well, it seems like he's taking a lot of control of you since you two aren't 'dating'." He retorted. "Just break up with him." I stared at him in disbelief. "Why are you so against him?" I asked. "He's only going to hurt you." "Well Brady it hurts knowing that you don't support me!" I was getting a little upset and I didn't want to get in a fight with him so I relaxed my glare and looked away from him. "I do support you! I just don't think you and Tyler are meant to be together." I sighed heavily. "Well, I'm going to continue to 'not date him' and see what happens." I gave him a half smile. "He can't do anything to me that someone else hasn't already done." I tried to reason. "Whatever." Brady stood up to leave. "Brady!" I yelled. "What?" His voice was cold and it stung that he was so mad over this. "Why are you being like this? What about you're ex-girlfriend? None of us liked her! You didn't listen to Heath or Sabrina or Hunter or anyone when we told you that she was a bi*** and that you shouldn't date her. At least our friends like Tyler!" I snapped. "Nice to know that I count." "You do but I don't see where this spite is coming from!" "He's a jerk!" "Why?!" "Because he's going to hurt you!" "How do you know?" "Because I know how guys are!" "So you're going to hurt me too?!" "We aren't dating!" "Neither are me and Tyler!" "You wish you were though!" "You know what I wish? I wish that you would just let me decide!" "He doesn't care about you!" "How do you know?!" "Because I care about you!" "Well-...what?" I asked. "That's right Angel, I love you. I care about you!" My anger subsided. "Brady, I love you. I just don't love you like that. I mean, for a long time I did, but you're my brother. It's kinda weird. I found that I like Tyler and I think he likes me too." It was true. For a while, I liked Brady, a lot. But not now. "I'm sorry." I whispered. "Don't be sorry, you can't help how you feel. It's alright." He walked back over to me and gave me a tight hug. "I'll stop it with Tyler if you want." I said. "No. Not if you're happy, then stay with him." I nodded. "I guess I'm not sure." Brady nodded. The time is coming to decide. But for now, I'm just glad this is settled.
