Confessions Of A Broken Rebel

20- Unsure

I woke up early the next morning, before my alarm even went off. I shrugged and grabbed a pair of light blue skinny jeans and a white shirt with a simple design and the rest of my clothes and went into the bathroom to shower. The warm water felt good and helped wake me up. I dried myself off and pulled on my clothes, straightened my hair, and put on some eyeliner, eyeshadow, and mascara. I went downstairs to grab something to eat when my phone vibrated. It was from Brett. 'Hey, want me to take you to school this morning?' I texted him back quickly. 'Sure, thanks.' I grabbed an apple and munched away at it as I surveyed the kitchen for food. There was bread, yogurt, fruit, cereal...and mini pancakes! I threw a couple on the plate with butter and microwaved them and poured maple syrup on top. I just had time to run upstairs and brush my teeth, put on my lipgloss and grab my bag before Brett knocked on the door. "You're early." I smiled. "Thought we could grab some coffee?" I smiled and nodded. We walked out to his bike and he held out his hand to help me on and I pulled on the helmet. "Thanks." He smiled at me and we took off, headed towards Starbucks. As we pulled up, he asked me about the day before, what I did when he was out. "I talked to the guys and they said the girls were all out together except you and Veronica." "Yeah." I replied. "You remember the EMT? When Sabrina was sick?" He thought for a second and nodded. "Well, let me start from the beginning. The girls and I were looking for prom dresses and the owner there gave me this beautiful dress she had made for her daughter. Well we talked and she asked if I would come see her again, to keep her company." I told him the whole story about how we all met and when I was done, he smiled. "That's cool. We should invite them over sometime." I smiled. Granny's words kept replaying in my head. When I looked at Brett he was staring at the food, his face hard in concentration, his eyes focused, jaw clenching and unclenching as he thought. I could do this forever. I thought. He looked over at me. "What?" He smiled. I shook my head. "Nothing." He laughed, "What were you staring at?" I looked down. "You." He laughed and pulled me in for a hug. "What can I get for you?" The barista asked. "Oh! Grande gingerbread latte. Extra whip please." I smiled. "And for you?" She asked Brett. "Grande mocha." "Please." I nudged him. "Please." He muttered and ran his hand through his hair. "Thank you." I nudged him again. "Hey, don't push it." He smiled and gently bumped into me. "Oh!" I pretended he pushed to hard and threw myself sideways onto the floor. "Are you okay?!" Brett asked. I laughed loudly, as did the barista. "I'm kidding, darling." He shook his head and rolled his eyes, pulling me to my feet. "You worried me." "I know!" I smiled. The drinks went up on the bar and we sat down to talk. "Did you have fun with the guys?" I asked. He took a sip of his mocha. "Yeah." "Good." I replied. I watched him for a minute or so. He wouldn't look at me, he was fidgeting and looking around. "What's on your mind?" I asked. "Nothing, I'm just tired." He replied. "Are you sure?" I asked. He muttered a "mm" and sat back in his chair. "I know you're lying." I rolled my eyes. "Do not." A small smile lifted the corners of his lips. "What's going on with you?" I asked. "I just feel..awkward." He replied. I couldn't help but wonder what in the world he was talking about. "I know Brady had a thing for you. I also know at one point you had a thing for him and now you guys live together." My mouth dropped open and I could hardly think straight. "Are you serious right now?" I asked him. "Well, yeah...I mean no! I mean, I didn't mean it like that, I mean it like well it's kind of a-" I cut him off. "You don't trust me?" I asked harshly. "No! I mean, no that's not it-" "Well, tell me what it is then. You think there's something going on between us?" "Well-" "Yes or no!" I raised my voice. "No but I think-" "Then let the no be no and move on!" "It's not the easy." He replied. "Well it should be." "But it's not." "Why not?" "Because it's weird." "I'm sorry it's weird but it's a little inconvenient for me to have no financial support, no family, no home, and refuse on the grounds of 'we used to like each other'." I replied with heavy sarcasm. "I mean it was nice of them to take you in but didn't Hunter and-" "Yes! They offered to take me in too. I chose Brady's family because his mom was close with my mom. It was written in her will that I would go there if anything happened to them. It was that or foster care. Sorry, I'd like to live with someone I've known for more than, oh say, never!" I could feel the words were stinging him but I didn't care. "That's not what I'm trying to say! Now please, calm down and let me finish." I glared at him but kept quiet. "I just feel awkward. Not that you guys are together behind my back or anything like that. I feel like I don't know you like he does. You tell things to people you like and you liked him for a long time. You've been best friends for a long time. I just want you to be able to tell me all the things you can tell him. Even more, if that's possible. I just don't want to be guessing what you're feeling when he knows you better than just about anyone." I sat and took in what he said. I could see how that would be frustrating, but I'm glad it wasn't that he thought Brady and I had anything together. "Look, you're the man that I love. I wouldn't tell Brady something that I couldn't tell you. I can tell you anything, everything, and things I wouldn't dare tell Brady. Like his room smells when he leaves his dirty laundry in there." Brett chuckled. "You understand more than anyone. You know me better than anyone and you're the only one I chose to be with, with every part of my body. I love you. Brady is my friend and my family but he will never have what you have." I said, reaching for his hand on the table. "And what's that?" He asked. "My heart. He never did and he never will. That is yours." I replied. He smiled, leaned across the table and kissed me gently. "Well, I'm glad that was worked out." He smiled. "Me too." I laughed. "Me three!" The barista smiled. "You're scaring away all the customers." She winked at us and laughed. "Here, share a donut." She pulled one out and put in a bag. "Thanks." Brett said. "You used your manners!" I laughed. She winked as Brett rolled his eyes at me. "See you guys soon!" The barista smiled. We waved to her and walked outside. "Hey." I said as I pulled Brett's arm and spun him around to face me. As he did, I put my arm around his neck and kissed him deeply. As he leaned into it and it got more passionate, tingles shot down my spine and I got butterflies in my stomach. We stood there for a few minutes and then I pulled away. "Back to the house before school?" He winked. I rolled my eyes and smiled as I continued walking and he smacked my butt. "I'll take that as at school. Not as comfy as my bed but I can definitely go for kinky!" I laughed and pushed him playfully. "Rough! Even better." I kissed him roughly and bit his lip, dragging my nails under his shirt and down his back. "Keaira!" He said blushing. "What?" I smiled. "Um...issue." He he said through his teeth. I felt his pants. He was hard as steel. I laughed. "Can't wait til we get to school!" I said jumping on his bike. "Ugh, you are such a pain." He laughed. We rode off to school and walked to my locker where everyone was hanging out and Veronica and Heath looked like they were trying to lick each other's tonsils. I rolled my eyes. "Hey guys." I smiled. Everyone seemed happy today but not happy enough to deal with a long day of school. Wednesday's were always the worst, right in the middle of the week. The only day worse than that was Monday. I went through the day listening but not really doing what I needed to do. At lunch, we sat down and ate...well, Veronica and Heath ate each other but the rest of us had food and Brett told me he left his book he needed for Math inside. "Guys, we'll be back soon. Brett needs his book." We walked hand and hand over to the double doors and to his locker. He just stood there. "Don't you need your book?" I asked. "Naw, I just wanted to get away from everyone and spend some time with you." He winked and pulled me over to the old Janitor's closet that wasn't ever used. It was old and when the school expanded, they made a room that fit everything better. It was cleaner and more organized so this just kept old news paper clippings of the school and whatnot. Nobody came in here. Brett shut and locked the door. I couldn't see anything but I could hear his breathing. He gently pushed me up against the wall, kissing me slowly. I let him in and the kissing became more intense. His hands roamed my body as my hands did the same. He lifted me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist. We kept feeling each other, kissing, biting. I let out a soft moan as his mouth traveled down my neck, beneath my collarbone. He unzipped his pants and he pulled off mine. It was painful but perfect, with him. When we were done, we were both tired and panting, struggling to find our clothes in the dark. His arms found their way around me and I leaned into his chest. "I love you." He said. Tears poured from my eyes and I bit back a sob. "Keaira? Are you okay? What's wrong?" I shook my head and buried myself deeper. "What?" He asked. "It's not bad, I just love you. I don't want anyone but you. I love this, being with you." "I know, I feel the same way." He kissed me gently and I felt him smile. "You're beautiful." He said. "Yeah, only because it's pitch black in here!" I laughed. He smiled. "Naw, you are. I mean it. I love you baby." He hugged me tight and squeezed my hand. "Let's go home." "Now? We still have school!" I laughed and wiped my cheeks. "Come on, I just want to be with you." I smiled and he opened the door a crack and hesitated. "What?" I asked. He laughed. "Sex hair!" He laughed again as he tugged at my hair, trying to straighten it. "Why don't you have it?" I asked. "I ran my fingers through it." He smiled. I swatted his hand away after a few minutes and followed him out to the parking lot and onto his bike. We headed out to his house. George welcomed us and Margie made us hot chocolate. The four of us sat in the kitchen and talked. "Shouldn't you be at school?" Margie asked, her eyes narrowing in playful suspicion. "Yeah, but we decided to take the rest of the day off, spend some time relaxing. "Would you like me to make you something to eat?" Margie asked. "No thank you, we just had lunch." I replied, Brett nodded. "We'll probably just watch a movie and go to bed. "Let me know if you need anything. Tonight is seafood linguine, garlic bread, salad, and for desert, a turtle cheesecake parfait." I smiled. "Sounds delicious, Margie!" "Yeah!" Brett agreed. "You two go get comfy. I'll get started on dinner. "'Kay." We ran upstairs and Brett picked out a movie. "What are we watching?" I asked. "Nothing." He smirked. "Well a blank screen isn't all that entertaining." I joked. "Oh, you're clever." He said sarcastically. "Oh, stop it. You're making me blush." I teased. He rolled his eyes and smiled. He pulled a blanket over us and the movie started. "Peter Pan." I smiled. It was my favorite movie, although I liked the one with Jeremy Sumpter. That was the best version of them all, I thought. "You remembered." It wasn't something I told him more than once in casual conversation. "I did." He replied. I leaned back against him and rested my head on his shoulder. About halfway through the movie I heard a quiet, gentle snoring coming from Brett. I scooted over and put his head in my lap. He moved his legs onto the couch and buried in, resuming his snoring. After the movie was over, I switched the tv to a normal channel and Shrek was on. Brett woke up a little and looked at the screen. "That's one ugly Peter Pan." and fell back asleep. I laughed before I realized so much time had passed, Margie was calling us down for dinner. I gently shook Brett. "Honey, wake up." I said. I kissed him gently and he groaned. "Up!" I said tickling him. "Ughhahaha." He groaned/laughed. I tokd him about the "ugly Peter Pan". He laughed and said he didn't remember. We held hands and went down for dinner. It was so good! The linguine were filled with muscles, scallops, and lobster. It was delicious! and I told Margie so. After dinner, we took a shower and got ready for bed. As we got laid down and got comfy, Brett wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close. "I love you." "I love you too." I replied. "I'm glad you're staying with me tonight." He muttered as he was falling asleep. "Me too." Then we both were out like lights.

Sorry, it's a bit graphic! I hope you liked it though. Please give me feedback because I'm thinking of finishing it at chapter 25 or so and I'd like to know if that'd be a good place to end. Let me know what you think!
