Them There Bellies

"God, I'm stuffed," Dad moaned, rubbing his flat stomach as if it were a large beer belly. All around the table, most of us were doing the exact same thing. Our plates were filled with left overs that we just couldn't fit into our tummies. Tyler, on the other hand, was on his third helping of dessert, and quite a large piece of pie too. Don't worry, I had managed to stuff some of that in before I hit the full brim.

A groan came from Morgan, translating into him agreeing with what my father had said. We all laughed lightly at him, watching the older twin with amused eyes as he started to slowly slip out of his chair and towards the floor.

The whole family sat there in silence for a moment, enjoying the peacefulness and looking back at the fun we had had this entire day. This, unfortunately, stopped when the doorbell rang, extremely loud as it reverberated around the house. Everyone looked at the other, their eyes silently saying "I'm not getting up to get it."

Rolling my eyes, I managed to stand up, muttering, "I'll get it," as I walked towards the front entrance. House full of lazy bums, I tell you. I sure as hell wasn't going to clean up after I had been cooking all day. There wasn't a damn chance.

Opening the door, I was as confused as to why all of my friends were standing on the concrete doorstep with grins on their faces. I cocked an eyebrow at them.

"What are you all doing here?"

"We came to get you! Want to go to the park with us?"

"It's kind of, you know, Thanksgiving."

"Yeah," Ray said, making it sound like what I said had been stupid, "but we all usually go out after we've eaten, partied and whatnot and play in the park. It's empty, so no one will be there to judge us."

I looked back over my shoulder to see everyone slowly starting to get up, although it seemed like it pained them to do so. Morgan was having the most difficult time, seeing as he was halfway to the floor by now.

"I don't know, I don't think it would be very cool to leave my cousin's here like that while I ran off with you guys."

Tamara, who I hadn't known had been there, poked her head out from behind the tall giants who had bombarded the front and gave me a smile. "They can come with us. The more, the merrier."

"Where are we going?" the twins asked behind me, making me jump. I turned to give them a glare, but they didn't even flinch.

"No where, because I'm leaving you here while I take Tyler."

Tyler, hearing his name, looked up from his pie that he was almost done consuming. He had crumbs all over his face and a little something on his chin. My heart warmed at how adorable he looked.

"Now, where exactly do you plan to drag my kids off to?!" Tracy yelled from the kitchen.

"The park!" I answered back.

There was no sound for a second or two before she replied back. "Alright, but make sure none of them get hurt!"

Greg and Morgan grinned, grabbing their coats from where they lay on the couch and zipping it up around them, knowing it would be cold later on when the sun started to come down. Once I had made sure they were snuggled tight, receiving curses like "I'm sixteen, I know how to put a damn jacket on!", I turned to seven year old Tyler and motioned him over.

"Wanna go to the park?"

His response was excited, a nodding of his head violently and I saw his eyes sparkle in happiness. I put on his poofy jacket and his little beanie, just to make sure the child didn't get cold. "Alright then, let's head out!"
