Let My Heart Rest In Pieces 067

A Wonderful Trail

"We shouldn't have let this happen," I mumbled to Quinn, the only almost completely sober person at this party besides myself. The boy chuckled and nodded his head, letting his two toned hair move around.

"It probably wasn't a good idea to make this an alcoholic party, mostly because we all might get in trouble, but it's not like we can take it back now. And it's actually entertaining to watch these idiots make fools out of themselves."

I glanced over at the "group of idiots", who happened to be Frankie, Dan, Gerard, and Ray. What were they doing? Having a drunken, and somewhat boring, staring contest, only all of them were constantly blinking. I wasn't exactly sure how anyone was supposed to win the game, but it was pretty fun to watch.

"It's kind of sad, but they're only acting a little bit stranger than they usually do."

Quinn and I both laughed at my joke, knowing full well that what I said was pretty much true to the very point. When our giggles died down, I noticed that the boy's smile turned from humor to wistful.

"You know Envy, a lot of things have changed this year."

"How so? I'm not really the best person to compare New Jersey childhood stories with."

The boy rolled his eyes at what I had said, but continued on. "I mean, just everything has seemed to change completely. We were all friends, but it wasn't ever this group of people all the time," he said, motioning to the crowd around us.

I looked around at the crowd, looked at every single person who was having a good time, and I had to agree with Quinn. Even if I had only known them for not even a whole year, I could tell that this friendship was new to everyone.

"I thank whatever being is up in the sky every day that all this happened. I can't even imagine what life would be like if things hadn't gone the way they did. How could we all not have been friends before?"

"I don't know," I told him honestly, "but cheers to new friends and an even greater friendship, right?"

Quinn laughed again and nodded his head, the joy in his eyes very apparent. "Yeah, I can drink to that."

~~~~~~
"Okay, okay everyone, settle down now. Come on, be quiet! Seriously, shut the hell up!"
Hearing Roxy's loud voice over the talking and fun music, everyone in the room stopped what they were doing and looked at her. It was kind of humorous to see the drunks standing frozen.
"I suggest that we all play a game."
"Can it be a drinking game?" Jeremy giggled, swaying from side to side, and I don't think he was doing it on purpose.
"Jeremy, don't be stupid, of course it's going to be a drinking game."
Hoots and hollers filled the house hold, making the ones that were still mostly sober cringe at the noise and wrinkle their noses, myself included.
"Alright, shut up so I don't have a headache later," Bob groaned, holding his glass of cold water to his temple.
"But you haven't even had a touch of alcohol," Mikey semi-slurred, looking at him with wide eyes, which were magnified by his cute glasses. Bob's blue eyes said it all.
"Exactly."
"Anyway, what kind of game are we playing?" I popped in, trying to get to the fun part of this conversation.
"Beer pong!"
"I don't have any ping pong balls," Frankie said sadly, actually looking like he might cry.
"How about we have a chugging contest?"
"Ew, that would just get nasty."
"What about body shots?" Ger suggested, giving what he would call a "seductive face" at Roxy, who blushed and looked horrified at the thought.
"She said games, not sex," Jepha snorted, which made the drunks laugh. Well, anything could make them laugh at this point.
"Let's keep it simple; we'll play 'I Never'," Taylor said simply, sitting in the spot in the living room that was the cleanest. With a shrug, I followed her move and sat down next to her.
Everyone else followed suit, and by the time everyone had sat down, the living room was crowded with people, and it even got a little uncomfortable, but we managed.
"Does everyone have something to drink?"
"Yes, let's go!"
"Grouchy much?" Ray mumbled, resting against my shoulder. I smiled sympathetically at him and pat his curly hair before bringing my drink to my lap.
"Who wants to go first?"
"Me, meee~!" Jeremy slurred, raising his full bottle of beer high in the air. "I've never… kissed a guy!"
I groaned at his "I Never", but took a swig from my fruity drink. Roxy, Taylor, and Tamara also drank, which was kind of a given, but when Ray, Frankie, Gerard, Bert, and Jepha took drinks as well… to tell you the truth, I wasn't surprised by that.
"This is going to be a long game, isn't it?" Quinn asked. Most of us laughed and nodded our heads in agreement.
"Bert's next," Jeremy said, bewildered by how many people drank to his comment.
"Damn, this is hard. What have I never done?"
"Washed your hair?"
"Passed a math class?"
"Dated a good girl?"
"Shut up!" he yelled, pouting and only looking the slightest bit angry. "I've never… yeah, I've never passed a math class."
I once again drank to that, and so did the rest of the people here. But it was common knowledge to most of us that Bert McCracken sucked at math.
"That was lame," Taylor complained, "I've never gotten arrested, or gotten in trouble with the cops."
"What do you do if you've done both?" Frankie asked.
"Take two swigs?"
That was exactly what he did, and only a few of the group actually took drinks. The most shocking was when Tamara had joined them, making us all gasp.
"What? I'm not the innocent girl everyone thinks I am."
~~~~~~

Tamara had proven herself very worthy in this game, surprising us all by the things that she had done. As a result, she was now passed out on the couch, joining Dan and Jeremy, who had dropped in the middle of the game.

As I looked around, I could tell that others were going to do the same if they didn't stop drinking like fish, but they were having fun, and entertaining me, so why should I try and put a stop to it?

"Envy, look, the ball's about to drop in 30 seconds!" Jepha cried, eyes glued to the TV that he had turned on a little while ago.

"My girlfriend is passed out, what am I supposed to do?" Frankie asked, distressed in his current state.

"You can kiss either Ray or Taylor," Bob teased, motioning to the two that were having a conversation.

"No thanks, Ray and I are going to share a curly haired kiss," Tay laughed while Ray himself looked proud at the pairing.

"Envy?" Frank questioned, causing my heart to go into over drive.

"Aw, but I wanted Envy," Quinn pouted from his seat on the couch. I snorted, knowing full well that he didn't really want to kiss anyone as the New Year came in.

"Noooo!" Frankie whined, holding my arm, "Envy is mine."

"Ten, nine, eight!"

Whoa, what had happened? This fun loving party, that I had honestly forgot was one for the year 2000, had turned into something that usually only happened in my dreams. This was honestly a cliché that I never would have imagined would happen.

Frankie leaned in close to me, his smaller body pressed against my own, which made me shiver in delight. His lips were so close to mine that I wanted to just lean over and kiss him before the word "one" left anyone's mouth. And while I was thinking that, I thought that I saw something in his eyes, like he really wanted this too. But that might have been the alcohol talking.

"Five, four, three-!"

Before the count could even hit its final number, Frankie kissed me. Surprisingly, it was gentle, not what I was expecting from a drunk teenager. His arms slipped around my waist, bringing me even closer to him. I placed my arms around his neck, relaxing in his kiss and arms.

Around me, I could hear the TV and the others scream "Happy New Year!", but it wasn't important to me right now. All I cared about was the way that Frank felt against me.

A few moments into the New Year, we pulled away from each other to breathe. I could feel my face turning pink as the boy looked at me with his beautiful hazel eyes. He smiled at me, making me feel even more like a little girl, but it was such an amazing thing that I smiled back at him.

"You know V, you're a really good kisser," the boy whispered, his eyes still on me intently.

I forced myself to laugh, feelings other than humor running through my body. "Thanks, though you're the one that would know."

"Frankie, get over here! We need to have a drink together!" Bert shouted, dramatically moving his hands around.

The smaller teen's smile turned into a grin when he heard that. "I'll be there in a sec!"

"Talk to you later then?" I questioned, feeling my heartbeat start to calm down.

"Definitely, though you're welcome to join us if you want?"

I shook my head, making my hair move around my shoulders. "You go and have fun with the boys. I'm going to hang out with Rox."

"Alright, happy New Year Envy."

"Yeah, a very happy New Year," I told him as he walked away. I hadn't even been alone for a minute before the girl I planned on talking to rushed over.

"Did you think I wouldn't see that?!" she scolded, though her eyes were full of excitement. Roxy just loved to gossip.

"I wasn't really bothered with who was going to see or not."

"My god Envy, you just kissed Frank. Again! How many times is that now?"

Was it a bad thing that I actually had to take the time to think about how many times I had kissed a boy that wasn't my boyfriend?

"I really don't know. But it happened again, and he has a girlfriend this time."

"Who cares? Frankie finally needs to realize that Tamara is just a fling. You two have had this weird ass relationship for months!"

"One, Tamara is my friend, and it feels weird to be doing things with her boyfriend. Two, I'm a little tipsy and Frank is getting beyond drunk. It doesn't matter to him, he doesn't care about Tamara right now."

"Then you need to drink so much that you don't care about her either."

~~~~~~
I had to have been really stupid for listening to Roxy, but I did. We eventually did join the boys in their drinking game. The more and more we drank, the less the games made sense, but none of us seemed to care.
By the time most of our friends—or the percent that hadn't already passed out—left, there was no more alcohol, which apparently "ended" the party. I was a little more drunk than I planned on being, but I still considered myself conscious of what I was doing, sort of. My problem now was getting home.
"Frankie, everyone is drunk!" I whined to him, motioning to the intoxicated people behind me, "how am I supposed to get home?"
"This is home!" Taylor squealed from the background, using the sleeping Mikey as her pillow of choice.
Frankie giggled and nodded his head. "Taylor is right, this is your home."
"But I want to go to sleep." At this point in time, I was pouting and acting like a little girl, but I got my way.
The host rolled his eyes but acknowledged my complaint. "Fine, fine. You can sleep in the guest bedroom. Follow me!"
For some reason, as we climbed up the stairs, we started to make train noises, and I wouldn't have been surprised if it echoed through the whole house.
By the time we finally got to our destination, we were almost falling over in laughter, holding our sides because it was hurting us. It's strange that everything is hilarious when you're drunk.
"Wait a minute!" I gasped when we walked into the dark room, "this is your room!"
Frankie blinked a couple times, upset by this piece of information, then shrugged his shoulders.
"Maybe we took a wrong turn."
"There was only one turn."
"Stop complaining! It's a bed, isn't it?"
I sighed loudly and nodded my head. "Yeah, it is. I guess I can just sleep here."
I walked/stumbled over to the bed, and at the same time trying to take off my shirt, because it had suddenly gotten hot in here.
"Your room is like a desert, it's so hot."
Before I could even breathe, Frankie was behind me, helping me pull the shirt off of me and then threw it to the floor.
"It's not usually this hot," he said in a low voice, not sounding drunk in the least. I turned around to see what had changed in him, and I instantly knew when I looked in his eyes. They were filled with heat, wanting, lust. And it was all for me, no one else.
His hands reached out to touch my exposed waist, and his skin was even hotter than the room was, but that simple touch made me want to faint.
"Envy, have I ever told you how gorgeous you are?"
That was when he leaned in and pressed his lips to my shoulder, sending an electric shockwave up my body and forcing a small noise to leave my mouth.
"No, I don't think you've ever told me that," I breathed, voice shaky. Truthfully, I'd never felt so nervous in my life; he was so close and my stomach was alive with butterflies.
"I should say it more often, because you really are."
His kisses were moving upward, small placement of the lips higher and higher until he reached my jaw line.
"I've wanted this for a long time," he whispered.
