Jimmy and Mary

Only if you had grown up in United States, only traveled in the
Americas, never set foot in Europe then you could understand
what it was like for a man and his nine year old daughter to
finally arrive in Paris

It was all on a promise he had made to her two years before
when the movie Anastasia was all the craze and Mary would
watch it to no end. Anastasias grandmother in the turmoil
of the revolution gave her half of a split pendant that said; Together
in Paris, and told her that no matter what happened one
day they would be together in Paris. Jimmy knowing
that a serious relationship which would preclude such
travels would be along any time promised Mary the same.
And as it was with all things he told Mary,

Descriptions by many travelers were no preparation for
what jimmy’s senses recorded from the moment they
walked off the plane through the fantastic glass jet way
into to the ultramodern terminal with it’s brushed steel
cathedral overhead.

It was the direct night flight from Miami. Mary
slept the whole way but dad in the discomfort of
a coach seat with the anticipation of their destination
barely caught a wink.
