Who Knew

The Morning

Before she even opened her eyes, she felt the warmth around her. She also felt herself being held. She couldn't help but to smile as she opened her eyelids and looked up. Jacob Black was snoring softly beside her. His arms were wrapped around her, holding her in place. She couldn't help but to giggle as she looked at him. Drool was slightly pooling on the pillow which his head was laying on. She reached up and trailed her finger tip over his jaw, which slowly earned a stir in him.

He fluttered his eyes opened and starred down at the blond angel in his arms. He smiled, "Morning." He whispered.

She giggled which was like music to his hears, "Hi Jake. . . We need to get up."

He groaned, "Can't we just lay here?"

She laughed, "Not all day, Jake."

He sighed, "Then what do you suggest we do today?"

"Don't you have to go do. . . wolf stuff?" She asked.

He shook his head, "Not until this afternoon."

"What do you want to do?" She asked, as she wiggled her way free of his grip, which earned a groan from him.

"I was content with staying here."

She rolled her eyes, "Seriously! Get out of bed! Shoo!" She said, taking the covers off him.

He chuckled, "How about we go home, freshen up, and then meet at the beach for a swim."

She thought about it for a few minutes, and then she smiled, "Okay."

He smiled, and leaned down and pressed his lips against her forehead. "I slept so good last night."

She blushed, not really knowing what to say. She and Jacob walked out of the room. Emily was in the kitchen fixing some breakfast. She smiled seeing them walk into the room, "You kids sleep alright?"

"Slept amazing, Em." Jacob said, grabbing a muffin.

"Sam wanted me to remind you of your night shift Jake." Emily said.

Jacob nodded his head, "I know, where is Sam?" He asked looking around.

Emily frowned, "It seems like Brady and Collin are going through the transformation today, he and a few others are helping them out."

Jacob nodded his head, "See you later, Em."

The two of them walked outside. Jacob turned to face Piper, "How about we meet at the beach in about two hours? I wanna run by and make sure they don't need help with Brady or Collin."

"Two hours sounds good, Jake."

He leaned down and pressed his lips against her cheek. "I'll see you in a bit. You gonna be okay walking home?"

She giggled, "It's just like. . . six houses down the road, Jake."

He smiled, "Just be careful. I'll see you in a bit."

She hugged him and then began walking towards her house. She walked inside and found her brother laid out on the couch. She frowned. He was probably so tired after patrolling that he couldn't even make it up to his bedroom. She walked inside the kitchen and saw her mom slaving over a stove.

"Hey Mom!"

Susie turned around and smiled at her daughter, "Hey sweet heart. How was the sleep over?" She asked, a grin present on her face.

"It was okay. Paul ended up coming back here."

Susie grinned, "I can see that. Have you had breakfast?"

Piper shook her head, and soon she was digging into pancakes with her mom, even Paul woke up to join them. This was the first family breakfast they had in a long time. With Susie's busy working schedule and Paul's patrolling schedules, they hardly had time to be a family.

"So, I need to talk to you kids about something." Susie said.

"What about?" Paul asked, chomping down on his food.

"What do you kids think about moving?"

Paul's head shot up, and Piper looked at her mom with shock. She had never lived anywhere but La Push as far as she could remember. Her real parents had dumped her at the border, and then just ran off. The Parker family had found her, and after months of no one claiming her, they eventually got the state of Washington to let them adopt her.

"Move where?" Paul asked, hoping his mother was just going to say across the reservation.

"Well. . . I've met this guy."

"Move where, mom?" Paul asked again, not caring about nothing else.

"New York. . ."

"You can't take us to New York!" Paul spat.

"Paul, don't lose your temper! I just wanted to talk to you guys about it. I told Chad it may be a bad idea."

"Who is Chad?" Piper asked.

Susie sighed, and then explained to the children that she had not been working double shifts, but instead been seeing a doctor from the hospital. He had only been there a month, and he was just there for temporary purposes. He lived in New York by himself, and was hoping that Susie and her kids would travel back home with him.

"You've been lying to us?" Paul asked.

"I didn't want to. . . I just didn't know how you kids would take it."

"Mom, I don't want to leave La Push." Piper admitted honestly.

"I don't want to leave either."

Susie frowned. She wanted to be with Chad, but if her children didn't want to leave, then she wouldn't dream of taking them away from the place they called home.

"But I do want you to be happy Mom." Piper said.

Paul shot his sister a look of confusion.

Susie frowned, "I don't know what to do kids. I really like him, but I refuse to take you guys away against your will."

"Why don't you go with the doc then mom?" Paul asked, "Piper and I could stay here."

"I can't leave you kids behind! You're just sixteen and seventeen years old!"

"Mom, look at me. I'm practically a man. I graduate next year, and I plan on opening a garage with a couple of other guys from the reservation. I'll help Pip through school and everything."

"I'm not going to just go away and leave you kids behind. No man is worth that."

"Just think about it mom." Paul suggested.

"And how would you pay bills?"

"Well. . . I. . . uh. . ."

"I'll think about it." She sighed, "But if I decide to go, it won't be permanently. I'll be placing you kids money in an account every week, and make sure you guys are still taken care of. My God, I can't even believe I'm considering this."
