Burning It Down, All the Way to Bat Country

Meeting the Parents

Time Elapse: Wednesday
Trinity’s POV
It was about 4 pm on Wednesday and I was waiting for my friends to get here. My dad had decided to do a barbeque, mostly because none of the guys can cook, and the girls didn’t want too. I was upstairs finishing tying on my bikini when the doorbell rang. “I’ll get it!” I called, rushing downstairs before anyone else could answer the door. I opened it to reveal Mistey, Blaze, and two people I’m assuming were they’re parents.

“Hey guys, come on in, everyone is out back. You brought your bathing suits right?” They both nodded and smiled.
“Oh, I’m sorry, I’m Trinity.” I held my hand out to the parents.
“Hello Trinity, I’m Theresa, this is the twins father Eric.” Theresa smiled warmly and they both shook my hand.
“Nice to meet you, come out back I’ll introduce you to my family.” I led them outside to the backyard, where my dad was ‘manning the grill’.

“Hey daddy, these are some of my friends, Mistey and Matthias, but we call him Blaze, and their parents, Theresa and Eric, guys, this is my dad Matt.” They all shook hands and the parents starting talking, and Mistey grabbed my arm and roughly yanked me back inside.
“Why didn’t you tell us your dad was M. FREAKING SHADOWS!?!?!” She screeched.
“Um, it didn’t seem important, and I wanted friends, not fakes who wanted to be seen with someone famous. Sorry I didn’t tell you, but he isn’t M.Shadows to me, he’s just the guy who saved my life, he’s my dad.” They nodded before Blaze spoke.
“Ok, we get it, and we’re sorry for Mistey’s freak out. But you do realize that Sarah is gonna try to jump him when he gets here right?” I grinned and nodded.
“It’ll be good for him haha.” I said, before walking away to answer the door.

“Hey Evan, how’s it going man?” I said, giving him a hug and welcoming him and his mom inside.
“Where’s your dad?” I asked.
“Oh, my parents are divorced, my dad lives in Alabama, this is my mom, Jill.” The woman smiled warmly and waved away my hand, giving me a hug instead.
“Oh, it’s so nice to meet you, Evan has spoken so highly of you!” I laughed and hugged her back.
“Nice to meet you too, come on, ya’ll can meet my dad.” I walked back outside and Mistey and Blaze were already in the pool, fighting while my dad looked on and laughed.

“Ohhhh DADDDYYYYY! This is Evan and his mom Jill. You won’t be meeting his dad, for some reason he lives in Alabama. Why would you go from awesome California to Alabama? It doesn’t make any sense!” My dad laughed at my rant and shook hands with Evan’s mom.

“Hi Jill, I’m Matt, this little psycho’s dad” Jill laughed and nodded.
“So it’ll be my house that the kids will be invading this weekend, and I understand that you’re a little skeptical about it.”
“Just a bit, it seems odd for the girls to be spending the night with boys.”
“Well, Ev here is gay, so you don’t have to worry about him, and Matthias has never treated any of the girls with anything but respect.” I didn’t hear the rest of their conversation as I had to go answer the door again.
“Hey girls!” I greeted Sarah and Blaike, they hugged me and introduced their parents.
“Ok, this is my mom and dad, Jim and Mary, and Sarah’s dad Mark.” Blaike said, and I shook everyone’s hand.

“Hi, I’m Trinity, come one out back, I’ll introduce ya’ll to my dad.” I led everyone outside.
“Ok daddy, this is Blaike and her parents Jim and Mary, and Sarah and her dad Mark.”
“Hi there, I’m Matt Sanders.” My dad smiled nicely and shook everyone’s hands.
“Alright, all teenagers, into the pool, the old people need to talk!” I shouted, stripping down to my bikini and running to the pool, jumping into the deep end. I swam to the surface right as Blaike, Sarah, and Evan jumped in with Mistey, Blaze, and I. I laughed and jumped on Blaze’s back, pulling him under with me. Being way stronger than me, he pushed me off with ease and swam back up.

“Hey, let’s play chicken!” Sarah yelled.
“OH YEAH!! Me and Trini against you and Blaze!” Evan shouted back. Thankfully I knew what they were talking about, having seen the guys and their girls play the game. I heard loud laughter and looked towards the house, and grinned, the rest of the guys had come back from wherever they went with the girls.
“HI Trini and random kids I don’t know!” Jimmy called. I laughed and waved him over.
“Jimmy, these are my friends from school, Evan, Blaze, Mistey, Blaike, and Sarah. Guys, this is my Uncle Jimmy, but I’m pretty sure since ya’ll met my dad, you know who this lunatic is.” Jimmy pouted at the ‘lunatic’ thing and I grinned.

“Whatever little one, nice to meet you, Trini’s friends.” Jimmy waved and walked over to my dad, inserting himself into the ongoing conversation.

“Here it comes guys.” I warned as the rest of the guys and girls walked over. I knew we wouldn’t have a problem with Jimmy, he likes everyone. However, we were in for an interrogation with the rest of them.
“Hi guys, why don’t you all get out of the pool and come talk to us over by the fire pit.” Jasey said. We all nodded and pulled ourselves out and walked over to our towels, wrapping them around our bodies and following to the circle of chairs around the pit.

“So, let’s start with basics. I think you all know the guys, so we’ll start with us girls then the kids can go. State your name, nickname, age, and favorite color. I’ll go first. I’m Jaselle, call me Jasey. I’m 26 and my favorite color is purple. This little one is my daughter Aja, she’s three and says her favorite color is rainbow.”
“ Zacorra, call me Corra or die. I’m 24 and my favorite colors are purple and silver.”
“Steph, 26, and lime green.”
“Lynnie, 24, and orange.”
“Jaz, 22, and blue.” Jasey clapped and nodded to me to start the round of kid intros.
“Ok, my name is Trinity, I’m 15 and my favorite color is electric blue.”
“Mistey, 15, and silver.”
“Matthias, call me Blaze, I’m 15. OH! And my favorite color is yellow.”
“Evan, 15, and silver.”
“Blaike, 15, and green.”
“Sarah, 15, and orange.” Jasey clapped and nodded.

“Ok, now that that’s out of the way, it’s nice to meet you, we hear that ya’ll are trying to kidnap Trini for the weekend.” Blaze laughed and nodded, explaining the weekend.
“Yeah, we’re all staying at Evan’s house this weekend, and it would be awesome if she could be there. We watch movies, eat copious amounts of junk food, play stupid childish board games, and sometimes play pranks on the assholes from school. I promise you, we only got arrested one time, and that was because some cop thought we were a gang of vandals, it was all cleared up at the police station and the incident is not on any of our records.” Brian nodded.
“It sounds like something we would do honestly, I think you guys should be ok, I don’t see Matt having a problem with it.”

“Grab your friends and come over here babygirl.” My dad called.
“Coming daddy! Let’s go guys.” We got up and walked over to where my dad was sitting with the rest of the parents.
“So here’s what we decided. Instead of the sleepover happening at Evan’s, it’s going to happen here. You guys can use the basement, since it’s not really a basement anymore. How does that sound?” I looked at my friends, silently asking if it was cool. Upon receiving the silent ok, I grinned at my dad and nodded.

“Yeah, that would be awesome daddy, thank you so much!” I squealed and jumped into his lap, hugging the life out of him. He laughed and hugged me back.
“Alright guys! Food’s ready!” Jimmy called, and my friends and I ran over, pushing the rest of the guys out of the way in our quest for food. Once we had desecrated the food table, we sat on the deck chairs in a circle, laughing at the adult’s shocked expressions.
“What? We’re hungry.” I stated and smiled innocently. The group laughed and we started eating.

“So Trini, I’ll bring scary movies, Evan will bring stupid games.” I cut her off.
“Mistey, we have over three hundred movies in the DVD collection, and every game system like, ever made haha. My dad will get junk food, and we have air mattresses, blankets, and pillows in the basement. My uncles pass out down there playing video games all the time, so we just converted it into a game room slash bedroom.” I explained. Mistey grinned and punched the air.
“Hell yeah baby! This weekend is gonna be sick!” I grinned and nodded, tapping fists with Evan.

I just hoped my dad could handle it.
