Burning It Down, All the Way to Bat Country

Chapter 35

Time Elapse: Friday, May 14th
Mitch’s POV

“So how did the appointment go?” I spoke into my phone, hoping to hear good news from my girlfriend.
“It went really well actually. I really don’t think Derek and Jennifer have a chance; Mr. Peterson is a freaking shark Mitch. He looks more like a Marine than a lawyer, I mean; he’s bigger than my dad!” She exclaimed, making me laugh,
“Well that’s good babe. Do you have a court date yet?”
“Yeah, it’s the day before the benefit. How fucking perfect is that bullshit?” She laughed humorlessly, and I felt my heart break a little.
“Sweetheart, it’s going to be ok, really. You have a kick ass lawyer who has already won a case for the family, you’re not going back.”
“I know that, I’m just really scared Mitch, if I go back I’m going to die. He’ll kill me.” I clenched the phone in my hand, trying to cool the anger that was threatening to erupt.

“You have nothing to be worried about, I promise.”
“I know that. And besides, my dad says that the stupid fuckers legally signed away any rights they had to me. I don’t know why they’re insisting on a court date, but they are. Whatever, I have to go; I’ll see you tomorrow at the show?”
“Yupp, I’ll see you at the club. Bye beautiful.” She murmured a quick good bye before hanging up phone. I flopped back on my bed, trying to think positively. If Matt had full legal custody of her then we really had nothing to worry about. The court date was just a technicality. Everything would be ok, it had to be.

Steph’s POV

“How’s Trin handling everything?” I asked Matt as I stood behind him, trying to knead the tension out of his neck and shoulders,
“She’s really scared, I don’t think she believes me when I tell her that the document we have is legal and binding. Plus, Daniel called me today and it turns out that they legally signed away their rights to her. They can’t get her back, but the dumbasses are insisting on a court date. So we’re going to go and waste a judge’s time because they think they have a case. Jesus Christ.” He fumed, rolling his neck back into my hands. I pressed a kiss to the top of his head as I worked my fingers deeper into his neck,
“Ow, baby, this hurts!”
“It’s supposed to hurt; I’m forcing your muscles to relax. Don’t worry, it will feel good in a few minutes.” I assured him, finally feeling the knots loosen. He groaned as I let go, going over to the bed and collapsing. I stayed face down in the pillows as I felt the bed dip and squealed as I was lifted into the air and tossed back on the bed. I sat up and glared at Matt, who just smiled angelically.

“You think you’re sooo funny huh? How’s for funny? No sex for a month.” I said, smirking evilly at the look of utter despair that crossed his face. He unleashed the full power of his pout at me, not realizing that I was now immune,
“Come on, you wouldn’t deny yourself for a month.” He said, knowing he had played his trump card. I was addicted to him and the giant fucker knew it.
“Fine you win, now get down here and kiss me.”

Trinity’s POV

I woke up the next day to Mistey poking me in the face. I swatted her hands away and burying my face under a pillow,
“Fine, don’t get ready. Never mind the fact that the concert is in three hours. Whatever.” I shot out of bed at Blaike’s words and ran into my bathroom to take a shower. I could hear their laughter over the running water and checked the clock on my bathroom radio. Sure enough, it was almost five o clock. How the hell did I sleep that late? I took a quick shower and toweled off in the bathroom before putting on my robe to walk into the room.
“So what are you guys wearing to the show?” I asked them as I pulled black skinny jeans and a purple and black Metal Mulisha top out of my dresser.

“Dude, I think we color coordinated!” Mistey exclaimed, showing me the purple skinny jeans and black tank she had chosen, along with stacked purple and black bracelets. I laughed and nodded, quickly putting on underwear and my jeans before walking to my bathroom to dry and straighten my hair. I walked back over to my bed where I had left my top, and glared at it,
“Dude, are you trying to set the shirt on fire or something?” Sarah asked, noticing my death stare.
“It’s so boring! I need something else…” I said, grabbing a random tank off the floor and throwing it on as I walked out the door, heading over to Lynnie and Brian’s room. I knocked on the door before opening it and poking my head in, seeing Lynnie sitting on her bed on her phone. She looked up and motioned for me to come in before going back to her call,
“Yeah, no that’s fine. Ok, thank you so much, buh bye.” She snapped her phone closed and smiled at me,

“Hey sweetheart, what’s up? I figured you’d be getting ready for the show tonight.”
“That’s just it, all of my tops are so boring, can I borrow one of yours?”
“Sure sweetie, did you have one in mind?”
“Um, something purple and black?” She thought about it for a second before grinning and throwing me a shiny silver, purple, and black top. I held it up and grinned like a fool before tackling Lynnie in a hug,
“Ohmigod Lynnie I LOVE YOU!!!!” I screamed before jumping up and running back to my room to change. I looked at the clock and noticed an hour had passed, so I went to the intercom to page the guys,

“Is everyone getting ready for the show?” Everyone paged back yes so I went back to getting ready, taking about twenty minutes to do my makeup. Ten minutes later and all the girls were done getting ready, Blaze had been downstairs playing video games with my dad and uncles all day. We walked into the basement and I noticed that my dad and the guys had put on the most intimidating outfits they could find, chained belts, muscle shirts, hats and bandannas. I rolled my eyes and motioned for everyone to get up,
“Ok, we need to take two cars, so dad’s and Brian’s trucks?” My dad nodded and turned the TV off, grabbing his keys and jacket from the table next to him.

“Alright, wait, what the hell are you two wearing? And by that, I mean Trin and Blaike.” We looked at each before looking at my dad like he was crazy,
“Clothes?” We said together, and he shook his head in annoyance.
“Ok, whatever. You’re going on stage so I don’t care. Did you guys load your shit in the trucks?” We nodded,
“Oh yeah, I kind of um, personalized one of the practice mics and one of the stand, hope you don’t mind daddy.”
“Not at all sweetheart; now let’s go.” We all walked upstairs to the garage, where we decided that our band would go in the Escalade and the rest of Avenged would go in Brian’s Tahoe. I felt my pocket vibrate about ten minutes into the twenty minute drive to the club, so I fished it out of my pocket, smiling when Mitch’s name flashed across the screen,

“Hey babe, what’s up?”
“Not much, just wanted to see if you were gonna be here soon.”
“Yeah, we’ll be there in about ten minutes. How long are we playing for tonight?”
“Bout an hour, hope you have enough songs.”
“Please, we have way more songs than that. My dad even helped us record a demo, it’s so bad ass.”
“That’s awesome babe, I gotta go, your shit just got here and I have to help set it up. Bye.”
“Bye, see ya soon.” I hung up my phone and pushed it back in my pocket, starting to squirm in excitement. This was going to be fucking killer!
An hour later and we were just getting ready to go on stage, and I was feeling the full force of stage fright. I felt arms wrap around my waist and jumped, turning quickly to reveal the smiling face of my boyfriend. He grinned and pecked my lips quickly, then pushed me out on stage. I pushed a smirk onto my face as I grabbed the mic, putting it to my lips.

“How the fuck ya’ll doin tonight?” I yelled, receiving screams as a response.
“Well, we are Forgotten Memories, and our first song is called Knights of the Round!” I screamed into the mic, launching into the song.

Breathe
Just breathe
What are you waiting for?

Incisions forced; blood runs
We're forced to believe it
Don't you see it?
You're being overthrown by ...

We are the knights
Your nightmare arrives
I don't think you know I don't think you know
What has come for you
Follow the lights
They're burning so bright
I don't think you know I don't think you know
What has come for you

Breathe
Just breathe
Won't you walk through the door

Focus on all your instincts
It brings you deeper to the meaning of what we've become
Show your heart of stone

We are the knights
Your nightmare arrives
I don't think you know I don't think you know
What has come for you
Follow the lights
They're burning so bright
I don't think you know I don't think you know
What has come for you

We subside
Lost in your eyes
You burn so bright

Twelve songs and an hour later, and we were just finishing up the set,
“Alright, we are Forgotten Memories, thanks for putting up with us. We have demos for sale at the front! Now, let’s go watch some very hot men beat the shit out of each other, shall we?” We grinned and walked off the stage, knowing that Mitch’s friends would tear down for us so we could watch Mitch fight. We fought our way closer to the ring, watching Mitch climb in. He spotted us and grinned, winking at me as he taped his fists. I looked at the guy he was fighting and smirked, I don’t know who told this guy that fighting was a good idea for him, but whoever did was obviously not his friend. The announcer stepped up with a bullhorn and waved at us to shut up, lifting the horn to his lips,

“Alright, this fight is Mitchell Massacre vs. Demon Hunter. I think we all know who’s gonna win this thing but whatever. Alright guys, you know the rules, no eye gouging or crotch shots. Otherwise, anything goes.” He stepped out of the ring and an alarm went off, signaling the beginning of the fight. I watched in awe as Mitch totally decimated this guy, who made his fatal mistake in thinking that trying to take Mitch by surprise would make him win. I smirked as a vicious kick to the ribs knocked him out, declaring Mitch the winner. He climbed out of the ring and I jumped on him, not caring that he was covered in blood and sweat.

“Baby that was awesome!” I squealed, pressing a kiss to his lips as he let me down. He just grinned and nodded before walking over to my dad, holding out his hand. My dad laughed and slapped forty bucks into his palm, winking at me and taking my arm.
“Time to go sweetheart.” I nodded and placed another kiss to Mitch’s lips before grabbing the rest of the band to help load our shit into the van. Twenty minutes later and I was sitting in the back with Mistey and Sarah, Blaze, Blaike and Evan in the third row. I laid my head on Mistey’s shoulder, completely exhausted from the night’s events.

“Daddy, we have got to go watch another fight; that was amazing!” He laughed and nodded,
“Ok sweetheart. Now why don’t you guys try to get some sleep, we’ll be back at the house in a bit. I nodded tiredly and placed my head back on Mistey’s shoulder. God, what an awesome day.
