Reckless

The tide came back up, hitting my knees and flowing around me. The water was crystal clear, the sky a pristine blue. It was so beautiful, but it wasn’t right. Nothing should be this goddamn gorgeous, not when he wasn’t here. Not when he wasn’t alive.

“Wrong. So wrong,” I whispered to myself. A few tears slid out of my eyes, and ran down my cheeks. The feeling of loss and abandonment crashed into me; I had been holding it back to long. “No, no, no.”

I fell to the ground completely, wet sand brushing against my face. I cried in silence, the tears mixing in with the ocean. I wanted to just lie there, let the water envelop me forever. I had lost everything I had ever cared for.

“Just kill me God, please. I’d be a lot happier.”
