Sequel: She Almost Left Me

The One That Got Away

Introduction

Your fingertips across my skin
The palm trees swaying in the wind
Images

You sang me Spanish lullabies
The sweetest sadness in your eyes
Clever trick

I never want to see you unhappy
I thought you'd want the same for me

Goodbye, my almost lover
Goodbye, my hopeless dream
I'm trying not to think about you
Can't you just let me be?
So long, my luckless romance
My back is turned on you
I should've known you'd bring me heartache
Almost lovers always do

We walked along a crowded street
You took my hand and danced with me
Images

And when you left you kissed my lips
You told me you'd never ever forget these images, no

I never want to see you unhappy
I thought you'd want the same for me

Goodbye, my almost lover
Goodbye, my hopeless dream
I'm trying not to think about you
Can't you just let me be?
So long, my luckless romance
My back is turned on you
I should've known you'd bring me heartache
Almost lovers always do

I cannot go to the ocean
I cannot drive the streets at night
I cannot wake up in the morning
Without you on my mind
So you're gone and I'm haunted
And I bet you are just fine
Did I make it that easy
To walk right in and out of my life?

Goodbye, my almost lover
Goodbye, my hopeless dream
I'm trying not to think about you
Can't you just let me be?
So long, my luckless romance
My back is turned on you
I should've known you'd bring me heartache
Almost lovers always do

It happened a long time ago, but Danny felt like it had happened yesterday. He still hoped it wasn't true; in all the sixty-five years since it happened, he'd always denied she was gone. Maybe deep down he knew it, and that's probably why he married, and had children - two boys and a girl.

He'd known her since she was six, and he was twelve. Lauren was his best friends little sister, the sweet little girl who'd took a shine to him straight away, and who he'd protected right up until the day he became a band-member; five whole years. They stayed close over the years, and he'd realized feelings for her when she was only sixteen years old.

When she was eighteen, he'd decided he was going to tell her. But she was engaged. I'm not going to tell the rest of the story right now; it'll unfold as the pages go on. But this is their story, and why it went horribly wrong.

This is my introduction to the story.
The other chapters will be a lot better.
I'm thinking they should all start with songs that reflect the mood of the chapter?
Comment and let me know if you think that'll swing right?
