Sequel: She Almost Left Me

The One That Got Away

Love at the MEN

Spend all your time waiting
For that second chance
For a break that would make it okay
There's always a reason
To feel not good enough
And it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
Oh beautiful release
Memorys seep from my veins
Let me be empty
And weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight

In the arms of the angel
Fly away from here
From this dark cold hotel room
And the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort here

So tired of the straight line
And everywhere you turn
There's vultures and thieves at your back
And the storm keeps on twisting
You keep on building the lies
That you make up for all that you lack
It don't make no difference
Escaping one last time
It's easier to believe
In this sweet madness oh
This glorious sadness
That brings me to my knees

In the arms of the angel
Fly away from here
From this dark cold hotel room
And the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort there
You're in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort here

It was November 22nd 2008. Lauren and Davinia squealed through the waiting, and sang every word of the concert. Lauren had developed an immense crush on Danny since she was eleven; Davinia felt the same about one of Danny's band members.

A range of self composed songs were played that night, from Five Colours in Her Hair all the way up to The Last Song. Of course Lauren and Davinia knew every single word; they were best friends with one of the frontmen, who taught them the songs personally with his own guitar that he often played onstage.

The show seemed to last forever, but it was over way too quickly. Lauren was sad when the boys disappeared, and had to be reminded by Davinia that they were going backstage. Of course - Danny had invited them personally.

Both girls ran to the corridor of the MEN Arena, and hung outside the door to the back rooms. Danny eventually poked his head out, still sweaty, and grinned at the girls. Frankie was already backstage - he'd come back to Manchester for the day, to see his best mate in action.

Frankie had been travelling the world on his savings from his Grandparents. The last place he'd been was Paris, which was easier to get back to England from than Russia or Australia (which he'd already been to). He was rugged, casually dressed and happy.

Danny looked at Lauren properly for the first time in years.

"Dude," he hissed to Frankie. "Your sister's got boobs!"

"Dude," Frankie replied. "That's my sixteen year old sister!"

"Yeah but... she's fit! Oh dude, I think I might be in love with her!" Danny exclaimed, his eyes wide.

"...Okay," Frankie grinned.
