Going Alone

o15.

“Flight 107 to LAX now boarding.”

“Jack, I have to go.” I said, digging through my purse for the ticket.

“Mm.. me too!” He said, crunching on a chip.

“Bye.” I smiled and hung up my phone, making my way to gate 13.

-----------------------

“Thank you for flying with American Airlines and have a great day.” The stewardess smiled and ushered us off of the plane.

I hopped out of my seat and grabbed my purse and the carry-on bag and rushed off of the plane. Once I was in the terminal, I pulled my phone out of my bag.

“Hello?” Alex asked tiredly.

“Alex!” I smiled, “Where are you?”

“Uh, the hotel?”

“You do know I’m at LAX right now, right?”

“Oh shit! That’s today!”

“Alex!” I scolded, walking over to baggage claim.

“Sorry, I forgot.”

“I told you yesterday.”

“Yeah, sorry.”

“When will you be here?”

I heard some shuffling in the background, “Uh, 30 minutes.”

“With the LA traffic?”

“I don’t know, okay?!” He sighed, “I’ll rush.”

“Fine, whatever.”

------------------

“Mae.” Alex breathed, rushing up to me.

“Finally.” I grumbled, pushing myself up with my suitcase.

“Sorry, there was an accident on the freeway.”

“Where’s your car? My ass is killing me.”

“It’s in the waiting lot.”

“Let go then.” I motioned my hands outside.

His car was pretty nice, although it was a rental. It was a Lexus. Black on black. I didn’t even know car rentals had black on black. The leather seats would be nice, if we weren’t in the California sun. The leather stuck to the exposed skin of my legs and made a sick peeling sound whenever I tried to move.

“How was your flight?” Alex said, glancing at me nervously.

“Good.” I nodded, turning my head to look out the window.

“I’m sorry I forgot.”

I turned to look at him, “I just don’t see how you could forget. I told you last night.”

“I… I don’t know.” He shrugged, gripping the wheel tighter.

“Just forget it.” I shrugged, looking back out the window.

----------------------

“Mae Simms!” Jack yelled, running up to me.

“Jack Barakat!” I yelled back, hugging him.

“Mae Simms!” He yelled again.

“Okay, that’s enough.” I said, pushing him away from me.

“You’re finally here!” He beamed, “Fuck yeah, man!”

“Where’s the rest of the band?” I asked, looking around the hotel room.

“They’re at the promo.”

“Are we going to the promo?” I bunched my eyebrows.

“Uh, yeah.”

“So, um, when are we going then?” I asked, thoroughly confused.

“Now!” Alex said, rushing into the hotel room with my bags, “We’re fucking late!”

Okay, so, I just wrote this up quickly before I went to my follow up appointment.
Did you know Jack is/was anemic? Weird.

Anyways, comments bitch!
