I Watch You

I watch you as you wake up in the morning.
I watch you yawn, and stretch in bed.
I watch you stretch over to the other side, only to realize there’s no one there.
I watch your face fall at this realization.

I watch you painfully get out of bed.
I watch you slowly walk to the bathroom, to get ready for a new day.
I watch you go to the kitchen.
I watch you drink your coffee.
I watch you glance at the other chair, every time hoping that this time someone will be there.
I watch your face fall every time.

I watch you leave the house.
I watch you walk to work.
I watch you cross the road without looking to both sides.
I watch you sigh sadly as you get over safely.

I watch you arrive at work, almost an hour too late.
I watch your boss yell at you
I watch hiim tell you that you can’t use me as an excuse anymore.
I watch your co-workers sympathetic faces as you walk into your cubical.

I watch you work.
I watch you forget about me as you draw on your latest idea.
I watch you smile as you form a body on the paper, blocking out everything, only focusing on the job ahead.
I watch you spend hours on this, not even eating lunch because you don’t want to loose focus.
I watch you realize the work day is over, and you can leave.
I watch your face fall, yet again.

I watch you go to Starbucks, like you always do after work.
I watch you order, correcting yourself as you say 2 coffee’s instead of 1.
I watch you realize that one of the employees have a resemblance to me.
I watch you hurry up and pay, and leave the location before you break down.
I watch you walk down the street, taking deep breaths as you try to calm down.

I watch you lock yourself in at home.
I watch you eat your dinner alone by the table. I watch you stare at the second chair, so your pizza gets cold before you have even tasted. I watch you throw most of it away, and clean up.

I watch you spend the rest of the evening alone by the TV.
I watch you smile at the stupid jokes, and again you have forgotten about me, at least for a little while.
I watch you turn off the TV, and get ready for bed.
I watch you turn off all the lights in our house.
I watch you get into your side of the bed, and turn off the light.

I watch you break down in tears.
I watch you sob so hard your whole body shakes.
I watch your eyes get red and puffy from the tears.
I watch you cry out my name, screaming how much you hate me.

I watch you cry.
I watch you for hours.
I watch you scream you love me. Over and over again.
I watch you say you love me. Over and over, until no sound escaped your lips.
I watch you finally fall asleep.
I watch you smile, as you dream of me.
I watch you sleeping.

I watch you miss me. Everyday.
I watch you hate me for leaving me.
And I watch you love me more than anything in the world.
I miss you too. So much. And I’m sorry. I’m so sorry…
