Bella was about 6 months old when Renee fled Forks with her, and was at the time, unknowingly, pregnant with a second child.
After Bella returns to Forks to live with their father, Vecona falls into a depression. Her and her sister had never been apart for any length of time, and now, not being together was taking it's toll on her.
