Saving Grace

Someone Like You

She nodded her head, and Brian grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the house instead of the studio. She had never been inside Matt's house before, and she felt kind of awkward walking inside with just Brian. She had no clue what he could possibly want to talk to her about.

"What is it?" She asked.

"I just didn't want you to think I was hung up over my ex."

She burrowed her brows together. Why would he even bring that up to her? What would if matter if she did think he was hung up over her? Aubrey's facial expression must have clued Brian in that she had no clue what he was talking about. He sighed, running a hand through his hair. He knew he needed to tell her he liked her.

"Just, know that I'm over her okay?"

"Okay, Bri. What does it matter though?" She asked.

"Because. . . "

Why was this so hard for him? He normally didn't have a problem telling a girl how he felt, but then again. . . he had never felt like this about a girl. No, he didn't love Aubrey just yet, but he didn't like her either. She was special to him. She was different than any other girl he had ever had feelings for. He didn't know quite how to describe what he felt for her.

"What's on your mind?"

"Bre, I uh. . . I uh. . ." He couldn't believe what a idiot he was making out of himself.

"Brian, just spit it out. Come on, say it. What's on your mind?"

"I have feelings for you okay?" He snapped.

Her dark eyes widened a bit and she stepped backwards, starring at him. She had expected him to say anything but that, but it made sense. He didn't want her to think he was hung up over Michelle, because he had feelings for her. She couldn't even compose anything to say, she was speechless.

"You're speechless." Brian smirked.

"I am not." She protested.

"Are too!"

"Oh, shut up. You're drifting back to conceited rock star mode again."

She smiled, and he chuckled once he saw that. Even though she hadn't said she had feelings for him, he pretty much figured that out. He stepped forward and placed his hand under her chin and brought her face up to look at him. She starred deep into his brown eyes for a long time, before he slowly began to descend his face down to hers. His lips were an inch away from hers, and he was ready to move in for the last inch when the front door swung open and Matt walked in.

"Syn, fucking join the. . . holy shit. Never mind." Matt closed the door behind him. It was obvious Matt had already been drinking.

Aubrey chuckled slightly as Brian placed his forehead against hers. Matt had managed to ruin possibly the best kiss of his life time.

"I think we should go back out there." Aubrey suggested.

"Not before I get a kiss." Brian said.

"How do you know I wanna kiss someone like you?"

"Someone like me?" He questioned, not really knowing what she meant.

"Yeah, someone like you." She said, leaning up and pressing her lips softly against his.

Both of them felt like they were watching a fireworks display across their eyes. Bolts of electricity shot through their bodies as they kissed. Aubrey raised her hands up and placed them on the back of his neck, forcing his lips down on hers harsher, and he didn't complain. Instead he used his tongue to part her lips and explore every inch of her mouth. After a moment of allowing him to dominate her, Aubrey pulled away breathless.

"I leave you breathless as well as speechless."

"Way to ruin the moment, jackass." She mumbled, playfully.

He grinned, and then kissed her softly on the mouth again.

"We really should go back out there. Matt's having a hard time, and I told him I'd be there for him." Brian said.

"Okay, let's go. I'm sure Sydney feels left out as well. I don't think she likes Gena very much, and she doesn't even know the other guys."

"Someone who hates Gena? Wow shocker." Brian said sarcastically. It was clear to Aubrey in that moment that there probably weren't many people who did like Gena. "I'm hoping Syd takes Matt's mind off things."

Aubrey didn't say anything as Brian grabbed her hand and pulled her back out to the studio area. When she entered everyone was drinking, and Zacky passed her a beer over. She popped the lid off and began to swallow some of the cool liquid back. She wasn't a big drinker, but she figured she could socialize a bit. Sydney didn't seem to be drinking anything, and Aubrey assumed it was because she hadn't been feeling well. She knew something was wrong with Sydney. There was something her friend wasn't telling her. Though, she wasn't going to push it. When Sydney wanted to tell her, then she would tell her.

The guys didn't even pick up an instrument the entire three hours she was there. Matt basically bad mouthed his ex wife saying she had turned into a monster since they married. She noticed everyone talked highly about Valary, and she seemed like she was a nice woman, until Michelle began to influence some of her opinions. Aubrey tired to avoid all the conversation. It was really none of her business.

Once the night began to come to an end, both Jimmy and Johnny said they needed to leave. It was clear that the only thing Matt really needed at the moment was sleep. Aubrey was just glad he didn't ignore Sydney throughout the night. After bitching about his ex wife for a little while, he ended up spending the remainder of the night talking to Sydney.

"We need to come somewhere to talk." Brian stated.

"I'm not just leaving Syd!"

"Syd will be fine! Look at her." Brian stated.

Aubrey saw Syd and Matt talking, and decided that she would give them some time together. She then nodded her head towards Brian.

"Let's drive over to my house." Brian suggested.

"It's like nine at night, already. I have to work in the morning, and you plan on keeping me out all night." She said in a joking manner.

"You're calling in tomorrow." He said with a smirk as he climbed inside his truck.

She laughed, but something told her he wasn't lying. She had a feeling she would be calling in tomorrow. She knew what was coming next though. They had to discuss the kiss they shared.
