Saving Grace

Visiting Matt

Aubrey tucked a piece of hair behind her ear as she walked towards Matt's house. Brian knocked on the door, as a smirk made it's way across his face. She raised an eyebrow at him, wondering why he was making that face towards her. He half smiled, as the door flung open, revealing a shirtless Matt, looking rather annoyed.

"Syn, Bre!" He said, pulling both of them into hugs.

Aubrey was slightly confused, but hugged back Matt anyways. He then shut the door and they all walked into his living room. His dog began running around in circles which made Aubrey laugh.

"What's wrong with Bella?" Brian asked, referring to the dog.

"Val stopped by early to see her, and she's been hyper since."

"Val stopped by?" Brian asked with raised brows.

"Yeah. She was actually civil." Matt muttered, "She asked what we were gonna do about Bella."

"And you two decided?"

"I told her she wasn't getting the dog." Matt laughed, "She didn't like that."

"She's going to stop by to see the dog, but in reality you know she's just going to be trying to wiggle her way back in." Brian stated.

Matt sighed, rubbing his hands through his short hair, "I know. I told her I moved on. The last thing I need is Val trying to get back into my life. Especially now with Syd."

Aubrey smiled at the mention of her friend. She could see the twinkle in Matt's eye when he spoke about the fiery haired girl. It was obvious that he was developing feelings for the young photographer. Aubrey just hoped he wasn't using her as a rebound girl. Sydney deserved more than that.

"You better not hurt my girl, Matt." Aubrey warned.

He chuckled, "I think Syd can handle herself, Bre."

"I mean it!" She scolded.

He smiled, "I know, and I won't." He promised.

She grinned, and petted the top of Bella's head as Brian and Matt went into discussing their tour. She sighed, and tried to push all thoughts of the tour to the back of her head. It was something she didn't want to face, and the day was approaching quickly. Their first few shows would be in California, which she was thankful for. She would be attending the first two, and then Brian would be heading out of the state, and miles away from her. She trusted him. He had gave her no reason to not trust him. She just didn't know if she could deal with the distance between them. She had gotten so use to being with him at all times.

"Baby, you alright?"

She shook all thoughts from her head and looked at Brian. He was leaned forward, his brown eyes fixed on her. She sighed, "I'm fine."

"You sort of spaced out for awhile."

"Yeah, sorry."

Brian chuckled, "Matt thought he bored you into a coma."

She looked around and placed a nervous smile on her lips. She noticed Matt was no longer in the room. Her eyebrows met in the middle as she faced Brian, "Where did he go?"

"To get something to drink."

"Oh, okay."

Matt returned, and they began talking about the tour yet again. They would be on the road for two months. Two months without Brian. She really didn't know if she could do it. Brian seemed really excited about the tour, which didn't make this any easier. She knew he wasn't excited to be leaving her, but just the thought of him being so happy to be away from her made her heart drop. She sighed, knowing she was thinking about this the entire wrong way. She needed to stop being so self conscious. Two months was not a long time. She would survive. He would be back, and they would be fine.

She and Brian ended up leaving Matt's a little later. He said he had places to be, and then winked at her. She giggled, knowing he meant plans with Sydney. She was excited to see him happy about spending time with her friend. She really hoped they got together, and ended up together for a long time.

"Where are we going?" She asked Brian, as she noticed him drive down a road she had never been on.

"I just figured we could take a drive." He smiled.

She nodded her head, and laid her head against the back of the chair as she looked over at him and watched as he focused on the road. One thing she would miss the most when he went on tour where the moments they spent together when words weren't spoke. Sometimes they didn't need to speak.

"I'm going to miss you a lot when you go away." She whispered.

He looked over at her and nodded his head. He was going to miss her more than anything when he went away, but he knew he needed to get used to it. His job meant traveling all the time.

"I'm going to miss you too. We'll make it work, Bre."

She smiled, "I know."
