Saving Grace

Oh My God

When Brian returned home he slowly walked upstairs. The ring box in his jeans pocket felt like it weighed a hundred pounds. He knew it didn't belong there. That ring belonged on her finger, and he had every intention of putting it on there. As he reached the top of the stairs, he paused and looked down the empty hallway. He knew this was where the confrontation between Aubrey and Jason had happened. He shook his head as he thought about his girlfriend being alone and trying to defend herself. It shouldn't have happened that way. He was just grateful for Chance being here.

He pushed open the bedroom door and slowly walked in. He smiled seeing her still sleeping. There was no need for the note. He hadn't even been gone for two hours yet. He licked over his lips as he walked closer, and starred down at her angelic face. He wanted to make her his wife. He wanted that more than anything in the world. That would be the start of making his life complete.

He sat down on the bed and looked down at her. The smile remained on his lips as he brought his hand up and run it across her cheek. She stirred slowly, and eventually opened her eyes. She smiled as she raised up in the bed, and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. With a soft yawn, she tilted her head and looked at him oddly, earning a chuckle from him.

"What?" He asked.

"Were you watching me sleep?" She asked, her brows meeting in the middle.

He smiled, "Only for a bit. I actually left the house for awhile."

"How long have I been sleeping?" She asked, looking over at the clock.

"A couple of hours. Bre, there is something I need to ask you." Brian said, putting on his most serious face.

She instantly began to get scared and confused. She didn't know what Brian could want to ask her. Did he find something out while she was sleeping? What could he have found out?

"What?" She asked, barely above a whisper.

He smirked, and then tried to act serious, "It's something very important and I need you to answer my question honestly."

"Okay. . ." She said, not really knowing what was happening.

"The way you answer this question. . . determines a lot of things, Bre." Brian said.

"Brian! What is going on?" She asked, panic in her voice.

He licked over his lips and couldn't hold back the smile. He stood up, and wiggled the box out of his jean pocket as he slowly dropped to one knee on his bedroom floor. Aubrey's eyes nearly popped out of her head as she saw him place his hand on the bed with a ring box on it. The ring had a large diamond in the center, and two smaller diamonds on the side. It was a silver band, and she was blown away by how perfect it was. Then after she was done admiring the beauty of the ring, realization hit her on why it was in his hand.

"Aubrey. . . I know we haven't known each other very long. . . and I know a lot of people would think this is too soon. . ."

"Oh My God. . ." She whispered.

He narrowed his eyes, and then decided to continue with his speech, "But I love you more than anything, and I don't want any other woman by my side ever. . . I only want you. . . for the rest of my life. . .Aubrey. . ."

"Oh My God" She said, a bit louder this time.

"Shut up and let me ask you!" Brian scolded, "Baby, I'm just going to come out and say it because if I don't hurry you're going to interrupt this marvelous speech I spent the ride from the jewelry store working on. . . I love you, I need you. Will you marry me?"

She looked at him, and then to the ring, and then back to Brian. She couldn't believe he was asking her to marry him. Her head was spinning, and her heart was thumping out of her chest.

"I love you." She said.

"That's not exactly the answer you're suppose to give." He sighed.

"Of course I'll marry you." She said without hesitation.

She didn't even think about the answer, she just said it. She knew she loved him more than anything, and there was nothing more she wanted than to be his wife. She moved out of the bed and wrapped her arms around his neck and placed a kiss on his cheek.

"You ruined my speech." He muttered.

She giggled, "I'm sorry, baby. You wanna do it again?"

He laughed, "No, you might just say 'oh my God' again."

She pulled back away from him and smiled. She looked deep into his eyes and knew she had said the right answer. She and Brian belonged together. There was nothing in the world that could tear them apart.

"You want your ring or what?" He asked, a cocky smile displaying on his face.

"I want my ring." She smiled.

He took it from the small box and placed it on her finger. She smiled as she looked down at the shiny diamond. She sighed with happiness, and then leaned over and pressed her lips against his. She was in heaven right now. Brian was her very own little piece of heaven.

"You know. . ." Brian said, pulling away from the kiss, "I don't think I want a long engagement."

She laughed, "You don't?"

"Nope, the quicker you become my wife, the better."

She smiled, "Well, we have a lot to do before we can start planning the wedding."

He pouted, "Like what?"

"Like you finishing this tour, and me moving in, and we have to deal with the Michelle situation."

He sighed, "Tour is over in a month. You can start moving in the week before I get home. I'm sure Syd and Mal can help you with that. The Michelle thing is not something to worry about."

"Baby, you know if that kid is yours. . . she's going to use him against you. You'll have to fight for visitation rights."

"We'll cross that bridge when we get to it. I highly doubt that kid is mine." Brian said, "Anything else you want to discuss right now, Mrs. Haner?" He smiled.

She laughed, "Nope, I think that's it."

"Good, now we need to pack you some clothes. I already phoned Steve. You're leaving with me tonight."

She smiled and nodded her head. She was so happy to be engaged to him. She was on cloud nine, and knew that she would be for the remainder of her life.
