“You were amazing Sam,” Alex whispered in my ear after pulling me into a hug. I felt my cheeks burn and swell with a smile and a blush. I looked at Gemini and the security guard pulled us to the side of the set.
The boys joined Alex again and they finished off their set. Gemini and Jack didn’t really talk but Alex talked my ear off. I knew he was avoiding the inevitable, because I could tell we all were. In less than two hours, Alex Time Low had to be packed up and leave for the next city.
And no matter what we did, we all knew it wasn’t likely we would see each other again.
It was almost funny, because as Gemini held onto my arm as we sat with Alex discussing anything and everything, I was thinking back on the past two days.
None of this would have happened if Jack didn’t hit on me. And that led for Gemini and Jack to hook-up and then have things ruined and awkward. And Alex and I were not together, but I liked him so much. I still hadn’t seen Gabe, so dealing with him was no problem. Not to mention that they didn’t perform for another hour and by then we would still be on the bus, if not being ushered off by Vinny. Zack brought out fruit, but I didn’t dare trust my cut lip with citrus. I moved my hands in a daze, thinking about the night before, singing with Alex and finding Gemini in Jack’s bed.
I hoped Gemini would get to talk to Jack before we left but the time flew by and an hour later Vinny was indeed instructing the boys to say their good-byes and get ready to leave.
Standing outside the bus, Alex held my hands.
“You have my number right?” Alex asked hastily, as Vinny shouted at the boys.
I nodded.
“And my twitter?” he gave me a sad look.
I nodded again and pulled out a piece of paper I had folded after writing is twenty minutes before while the boys ran around saying good bye.
I shoved it into Alex’s hands and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Zack pulled Alex away and onto the bus.
I looked at Gemini who was holding back at the Forever The Sickest Kids merch tent with a frown on her face. I gave her a look that translated into “did you get to talk to him?” She shook her head and we headed back to the car we had left in the parking lot. Not really wanting to stay for the last few hours of Warped, Gemini and I drove home in silence.
