A Price For My Soul

003.

I could see Jack glaring at us. Gemini’s face fell. Now that I wasn’t intimidated, I noticed him; he was from that band Gemini loved so much.

“Gemini, would you mind getting us drinks? I need some alone time.” I signed slowly. She nodded and walked off in the opposite direction of the tent that Jack was in. I pulled out my notebook and started scribbling down a note.

Dear Jack,

I am sorry that I don’t know your last name, and I hope that doesn’t offend you. My name is Sammy Hatton. My sister is positively one of your biggest fans. I have never seen a room with more posters. And ninety-nine percent of them are without a doubt, your band. It took a lot for her to yell at you for hitting on me. I am sorry that you are offended but I honestly, cross my heart and hope to die, cannot talk. I can sing, which is a miracle itself. I am sorry if you don’t believe this but I am mute. My sister was protecting me because I myself cannot. Do you get this? I hope you are not offended.

From,

Sammy

I folded the piece of paper after I ripped it out of my notebook nicely. I walked over to the table which was surprisingly empty. A boy beside Jack was smiling at me. Jack was glaring a hole through my forehead. And he went to stand.

I cleared my throat. I wish I could yell at him myself. He turned his gaze on my hand, which was outstretched with the letter in it. He just looked at my hand, while his friend, with a shy smile, grabbed it and read it. I blushed.

“This is the girl?!” he exclaimed. Jack rolled his eyes but nodded. I went to sign my name, but I remembered they couldn’t understand.

“Sammy? She seems pretty genuine to me Jack.” Then he turned to me. “The name is Alex, Alex Gaskarth and it is a pleasure to meet you Miss. Sammy Hatton.” He smiled widely and stuck out his hand, grasping my already outstretched hand and shook it lightly. Jack kicked him under the table but I noticed anyway. Once he released my hand, I snatched up my note book and put pen to paper.

I am here with my sister, Gemini. I scribbled out the words in my messy print. I shoved the book in their hands; Jack was still glaring at me but took a second to glare at the note.

“She is a fan, you mentioned.” Alex prodded.

Yes, and she would simply love to meet you, honestly, I never thought to see the day where she would yell, to the least at a member of her favorite band. I smiled at Jack, who was set in stone with a scowl on his face. My face fell and I heard a loud gasp behind me.

I spun around to see Gemini, holding two coolers, jaw dropped that I was standing at their table. I briskly walked over to her and grabbed a cooler. She shut her agape mouth and followed me back to the table.

I put my cooler and my notebook on the table, placing my pen behind me ear and began to sign. “Keep your jaw up and meet Alex. And Jack, who is still pretty pissed off at us,”

“I know who they are Sammy!” she slightly snapped at me then turned her full attention to the boys. “Hi, I am Gemini.” She stuck her own hand out and shook Alex’s but was denied when she tried to do the same friendly gesture with Jack. Alex nudged Jack’s side but he was still stone.

“I am truly sorry if I hurt your pride Jack. But my sister couldn’t defend herself, and I didn’t see it was you at first. You are lucky you only got my yelling. If I wasn’t there, Sammy would have gone all kung fu on your ass.” She spat. Alex chuckled and ran his hand through his hair. It had been the third time he had done the action. I had been watching. His eyes were like melted chocolate, I loved chocolate. They shone as did his blinding smile. He was beautiful and he didn’t judge me. I couldn’t talk, that was that. I liked it.
