His Encounters

Not As Long As You Meant It

“I saw you today…with her,” I said staring at his lips.

He stared at the ground, almost ashamed.

“I don’t know Sam. I can’t put my life on hold just because you like me,” he said refusing to look me in the eye.

“But...I thought we agreed to wait and try over summer that way no one could say anything.”

“We’ve got a month left of school. Let me get my urges out before I get with you. I don’t want
you only for your body and I never wanted you to think that so I’m trying to get it all out now.”

“Oh… I’m sorry. I understand. I didn’t mean to make you mad. Please don’t be mad at me,” I pleaded.

“I’m not mad I could never be mad at you.”

“I sorry I just get jealous because I…I love you,” I stuttered.

He looked at me, mouth gaping. My own mouth dropped open.

“I-I-I didn’t mean that,” I said my tongue twisting as my lungs became tight.

His face fell, “Oh.”

“What?”

“I just thought…well I though you meant it,” he said looking down.

“No… I meant it I just thought you’d leave if I said it,”

“Not as long as you meant it.”
