Celebrity Crush

I stood in front of the mirror. I was dressed for school and for cleaning that beach house. I was in my green tunic and shorts. I had Kimi's favorite earrings of mine with a star and rainbow stars hanging down. My wrists held my twilight and peace bracelet, my hands were covered in fingerless gloves, and my feet were dressed in my black flats.

I had put a little make up on my face so Kimi wouldn't kill me too much. I huffed out a gulp of air and turned away from the mirror. Last night at Alex's was really fun. We hadn't spent time together like that in such a long time.

I had managed to tell him about Robert and of course he still doesn't believe me. I do think he will today considering he is being dropped off here by his mom. He said that Blake would pick him up at school.

I picked up my jacket and draped it over my arm. I picked up my backpack, my purse, and my guitar backpack. I walked to the door and flipped off the light. My mom and Robert got in before I did last night.

Mom had the right to yell at me for not being home when she got home. I of course just listened and bit my tongue to keep from saying anything. I went to my room last night like she told me and I didn't disturb them or come out for the rest of the night.

I basically called and talked to Kimi explaining my night to her. She doesn't know everything about Alex just that he isn't with Sarah anymore.

I walked down the stairs toward the kitchen. I found Robert sitting at the counter when I stepped inside. I walked in more and his head popped up.

“Morning, Laura.”

I mumbled, “Morning.”

I don't know but it seemed like not only my mom had been mad but him as well. I had such a bad feeling about today that I was going to throw up. I sat down my purse and jacket walking toward the cabinet.

I found the box of pop tarts and pulled out a double pack. Robert stayed quiet at the counter which I found odd. I didn't bother to cook the pop tarts I just ate them the way they were. I turned around in time to see my mom step in the kitchen fully dressed.

She was dressed in a purple shirt, a gray backless vest, and a pair of jeans. Her feet had a pair of gray high heel shoes. She walked toward Robert and gave him a peck on the cheek.

I raised an eyebrow at them. She just walked to her purse pulling out her keys.

“Laura honey we need to talk about last night.”

I fought the urge to roll my eyes. This time though she wasn't about to walk over me. Kimi was right I need to get a backbone, she might be my mother but she isn't always right. I decided to backtrack about the night.

“Oh yeah mom let’s talk about inviting your daughter out to dinner and then just basically invite your work buddies. Let them sit at our table, let them take your daughters seat, and just let her walk right past your table like you don't even know her.”

She just rolled her eyes.

“You could have backed out when we told you that you might want to leave early.”

I was so close to screaming but I remembered that Robert was in the room. Suddenly the doorbell rang.

“Well that's for me. That's Alex I am taking him to school.”

The look on my mom's face changed instantly.

“Actually Laura you won't be using your jeep. You are grounded from it and you must be in this house by nightfall.”

I couldn't help it all the being nice shit around boyfriends and work people faded. I opened my mouth and let out the biggest sarcastic laugh I could muster. Her face grew bright red almost the color of lava.

“Oh that's righteous. Well I am 18 years old, I have been living alone for the past year, most of the time when you are home you come home drunk or with some new guy. I stayed at Alex's house last night because we haven't talked since you came home, I didn't argue with you last night because I didn't feel like it, but you are going to ground me, I wish I could ground you for being a horrible mom.

Now I hate to say this but I am totally not listening to the shit that just came from your mouth. I have plans with both Alex and Kimi today after school. I have plans for Friday as well now if you will excuse me I have to take Alex and me to school.”

Quickly I picked up my things from the counter and ran to the front door. I heard another ring before I made it to the door. I pulled the door open and pushed Alex back. Alex huffed as I pulled the door closed behind me.

“Whoa I thought I was meeting this celebrity guy?”

I turned to look at his face.

“Well there's a change in plans.”

I could hear my mother’s heels clicking on the floor toward the door. I grabbed Alex's hand and pulled him toward the jeep.

“Just get in Alex I'll explain on the way.”

Alex ran to the passenger side of the jeep and climbed in. Just as I was pulling open the driver side door I heard the house door open.
“LAURA ROBIN MAY GET YOUR ASS BACK IN THIS HOUSE NOW!!”

I ignored her and climbed inside my jeep. Alex looked completely taken back with the way my mom was acting. I threw my bags in the backseat and jammed my key in the ignition starting the car.

“Laura your mom’s coming toward the car.”

I could hear Alex’s voice right next to me. I moved my hand toward the lock button and pressed it. All the doors were now locked and I watched my mom come to my door yelling. I could barely hear her over my thoughts and the loudness of my heart beat.

“Laura who’s that at the do…”

I changed gears and looked toward the front door and saw who Alex was talking about. Robert stood at the door with his arms folded across his chest and shaking his head. I didn’t know if he was shaking his head at the way I was acting or the way my mom was acting.

I pressed the gas and backed out the driveway while my mom stood in the middle of the yard trying to yell at me. I risked another glance toward the front door to see Robert helping my mom and giving me a disgusted looked.

“That’s the guy I told you about Robert Pattinson.”

I changed gears pressed the gas heading toward the school. I knew he was too good to be true.

The drive at first was silent. I couldn’t believe he would do that. I didn’t do anything wrong unless my mom told him something that wasn’t true. I sneaked a glance toward Alex to see him with this star struck look on his face.

I couldn’t help but laugh. I laughed to relieve the stress of what just happened, I laughed at the ridiculousness of the entire situation, and because he looked hilarious. Finally he snapped out of his trance and looked at me.

“I c-can’t believe you live with a movie star in your house.”

Of course Alex knew what he looked like since Stacy was a twilight fan. He always used to take her to see the movies.

“Well as of right now it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.”

“Yeah do you mind explaining exactly what happened back there?”

“Well my mom is mad about me being gone so late last night. She was trying to ground me this morning. For once I didn’t back down I stood up to her and now look what it has got me. I may not be able to go home today at all.”

I stopped at the red light close to the school. Alex seemed to be taking in all the information I just told him.
“Okay so that’s all that happened? The reason I’m asking this is because that guy looked like he was disgusted by you for some reason. It just looked like they were mad at you about something else as well.”

I just huffed.

“Well it wouldn’t be the first time she spread some kind of lie about me.”

Finally we turned down the street by the school.

“I’m kind of nervous about Kimi. She may not be so accepting like you about Blake.”

I turned my head toward Alex and gave him a smile.

“Kimi may kill me but I’m going to tell you something no one else knows about Kimi. Kimi’s own cousin Chase is Bi. He is on her mom’s side; she tells me he’s really cool. She loves going to the mall with him. He’s like a girl when they shop and he checks out guys with her. She really acts like he’s fun. So I know you have nothing to worry about when it comes to her.”

We pulled into a parking space. I turned and pulled out the key. Suddenly I heard knocking on Alex’s side and I turned my head. I found Kimi staring in the window. When she saw Alex the biggest frown came on her face. She didn’t look mad, she looked pissed.

“Alex just stay in the car for a minute while I calm her down.”

He just nodded while I climbed out of my side. I heard Kimi huffing as she walked to my side of the car. Now it’s obvious that Kimi’s favorite color is purple because that’s all she seems to wear lately.

I started at her feet which were covered in purple knee high boots, her legs held purple tights, she had a pair of blue jean shorts, her shirt was black but had purple writing on the front, her hands were covered in fingerless gloves with purple covering on them, and one of those black buckle hat.

She had purple bracelets around her wrists. She had this black military style jacket on and purple makeup on her face. Her ears held a pair of star earring with rainbow stars hanging from the bottom. She must have thought she may not have much homework since she held a small blue backpack on her back.

“Kimi calm down already. You are going to scare Alex.”

Her facial expression just got worst.

“What do you mean I’m going to scare him? He needs worse than me scaring him. Trust me even you can’t protect him from me.”

The scary truth was I knew this. If Kimi really wanted to hurt him she would do it and I couldn’t stop her for anything.

“Okay so I can’t stop you but I can get you to at least hear him out. He has a great explanation about everything.”

Kimi looked like she was pondering what I just said.

“Okay he has 10 minutes and that’s it. It better be one hell of an explanation.”

I gave her a smile and then unlocked the car. I went around to the passenger side of my jeep and opened the door.

“So is she going to murder me and then hide the body so no one will find me?”

I looked back at Alex as I heard Kimi come around the jeep.

"Actually Alex she said that you had ten minutes to explain and that it better be good or ...”

I could tell that he understood what I was saying. Alex closed his eyes and breathed out his mouth, and then he opened them once again giving me his best game face. I took a few steps back and let him get out of the jeep.

I could hear Kimi walking around the jeep toward us.

"Really Alex she won't kill you I promise."

I told him this because I knew she would never hurt either one of us after this.

"Okay now this better be good because if it's not then you just won't have much of a social life."

I winced. She really could destroy your social life if she really wanted to. I remember last year her ex had lied to her about where he had been. He didn't cheat but she didn't put up with lairers and
afterward no other girl believed a word he said. She posted most of his private information all over Facebook and twitter, pictures of his most embarrassing moments, and then he got fed up and moved.

So now most of her boyfriend’s know this and they never lie to her about anything. Sometimes it is really creepy how honest they can get.

I looked at Alex but he didn't even look fazed about it. I guess it was because he knew that his social life would be destroyed after word got out about his sexuality.

Kimi stood in front of us. I gave Alex a pat on the back encouraging him to get on with it.

"Okay well basically the reason I've been blowing the both of you off is because I've been seeing someone new."

Kimi just rolled her eyes. I looked at her and she caught my gaze which made her stop the eye roll midway.

“Well Kimi the thing is I've broken up with Stacy. I have to ask though Kimi do you remember our old hang out that small coffee shop?"

Kimi nodded her head. “Of course I remember there is that boy angel he's gay but he's so sweet."

I couldn't help but chuckle. I remember the day we found out his name. Kimi had been eye goggling him one afternoon and I got the courage to ask his name and right after I asked his name this guy came in the shop and came straight toward him. This guy whispered in Angel’s ear which caused him to smile and the guy kissed him on the cheek.

"Yeah well that guy is friends with this girl that always comes in and gets cookies and chocolate with some drink. Well her name is Annie and she has a brother Blake..."

Alex began explaining that day in the coffee shop. He did an excellent job explaining everything.

"So basically I found out I'm bisexual. I'm dating Blake and our dates are why I’ve been blowing the both of you off. I didn't tell either of you about it because I was scared."

Alex and I watched as Kimi stepped closer to him and stared in his eyes. Suddenly her hand came up and hit the side of his head.

"You are an idiot. You could have just told us about it instead of sneaking around. I saw you at that clothing store with angel a couple days ago. I was kind of curious that day and followed you guys around until the both of you came to the food court. I wasn't surprised when the guy jumped at angel but when that guy came up from behind you and wrapped his arms around you I was surprised. You don't have to worry though I will keep you safe for Blake. See yeah he's friends with my cousin that I'm sure Laura's told you all about by now."

I gave a sheepish smile and held up my hands. "He was terrified of you. I had to do something to calm him down some."

She just gave me a smile and then wrapped her arms around our necks.

"Neither of you should ever be scared to tell me something."

Suddenly we heard a bell go off on the school.

I spoke up first, "Well let's get to class and after school we meet back at my jeep okay."

Both of them nodded and waved me bye as they went ahead to class. I pulled my stuff out of the car and took off toward my first class.
