1855, Crimean War. Jericho Ravensmith is a fairly average young man, he doesn't want to go to college and learn. He wants to go and fight for his country, and so joins the military, pretending to be older than he is. A mistake that will never be forgotten.
Instead of going to war, helping your country, and being back for christmas. He makes friends, finds enemies, and starts a silent war that spreads over the centuries and causes more destruction than any war before.
