It Was Easier Not Loving You

He's a Chimpanzee

Mike scans the aisles looking for Ragu for spaghetti but, of course, they're out of Organic Vegetables...again. 'They never have the one I want,' he thought. He left the aisle and was suddenly rammed in the side by a blunt object causing him to drop the basket he was carrying his groceries in.

"Ow! Fuck!" he screamed. "Why don't y-"

"I'm So sorry! Are you okay?"

Mike stared back at the young auburn woman. She stared back at him with worry in her emerald green eyes and said again, "Sir?"

Mike looked at the floor and finished picking up his groceries, piling them in, and nodded. His side stung a little, but he couldn't help but notice the woman yet again, but he tried not to. She tilted her head and gave a puzzled look.

"I know you. You're Green Day's bassist." She gave a big smile and chuckled. "I never imagined I'd ever meet you in Walmart.

He shrugged. "Yeah, I don't really ever come here unless I have to." He paused and averted his eyes again.

"Well, I have to get going, I have to be at work in forty-five minutes."

"Yeah." Mike rubbed the back of his neck. "I better get going too."

"It was nice meeting you." She smiled.

"You too, bye."

"C'mon, Slowpokes! Get a move on!" Tre whined as he walked up the sidewalk. "There are hot cocktail waitresses in there and they need me but you are being too slow!"

"Yeah, yeah, why would they want you anyway?" Billie asked jokingly.

"Because I'm single, I play drums, and I'm smoking hot." He flipped his collar and flashed his teeth.

"What is this, the Twilight Zone?" Mike teased.

Tre flipped him off and turned back around. They made it to the door and went inside the club.

Niki's mouth fell agape. "Wow, this place is packed."

She looked around at all the drunken and half clothed bodies dancing and jiving everywhere. She saw a man half way across the room eyeing her. She could feel his dark brown eyes gazing at her as he made his way over.

"Niki, you still with us?" Tre asked.

"Huh?"

"I've been trying to get your attention. What has you so-" he looked up and saw the man about ten feet away. "oh."

"Hello, I couldn't help but notice you from over there. May I buy you a drink or ask for a dance?"

Tre scrunched his face and slightly tilted his head in await for her response.

"Why don't you ask him?" she asked pointing at Tre behind her.

Tre lifted his brow and smirked. He knew he won this one.

"I see, well, if you need me I'll be over there." He turned and left.

"If you need me I'll be over there," Tre mocked.

"Hey, I could've gone with him and left you guys in the dust."

He grumbled in response.

"Come on, you think I'd fall for the luscious dark brown eyes, bountiful dark hair, and bulging biceps?" She wiggled her brows with a grin, he smirked.

They joined the others at a booth against the far wall of the club. They ordered drinks, cut up, and enjoyed their time together.

"Come on, Niki, let's dance!" Tre said as he grabbed her wrist and pranced to the dance floor. He stopped on the far corner of the floor and pulled her close to dance.

"So, are you having fun?" he asked.

"Uh, sure. We've only been here for about twenty minutes but so far it has been good."

He nodded "So, what about the chimpanzee back there?"

"What about him?"

"What do you see in him?"

Niki smirked and swooned. "Oh, his masculine arms, semi-thick, hairy arms, luscious, dark brown eyes, and he's so tall."

Tre stood still and stared at her. "Oh."

Niki burst out laughing and collapsed on his chest. "I'm kidding, I wouldn't even think about dating the chimp for five minutes. He's too much of a pretty boy for me. He looks, and acts, seventeen. His beard isn't even cut even." She laughed again.

Tre narrowed his eyes and smirked. "I don't believe you," he chuckled. "What is your type, then?"

"Tall-"

"Everyone is tall compared to you."

"Ha ha," she pushed the side of his face. "I'm short, so what? That means you fit the description, no?"

His face lit up as he pondered. "Go on."

She looked down at the floor, then back up at him and smiled. "I like a guy with a few tattoos."

Tre wrapped his arms around her waist. "Mhm?"

"Blue eyes..." He moved closer to her. "Brunette hair..." And closer. "And drummers."

Their lips were inches away from each other as he whispered, "Really now? Do I fit your description." He grinned from ear to ear.

She whispered back, "I believe so."

They pressed their lips together and stood still on the dance floor.

"Hey I f-"

They separated and stared at Mike with a woman with auburn colored hair. Niki's face flushed.

"Uh, well, I wanted to introduce you guys to Becky. Becky, this is Niki and Tre."

"Hello, nice to meet you two."

"Hello," they said simultaneously.

"So, uh, you guys want to join us with drinks?" Mike asked.

"Sure, sounds like a good idea," Niki said.

They dodged the people and made their way to their booth with Adrienne and Billie.

"We're back," Mike said.

"Hey, we saved your drinks," Adrienne smiled.

"Mike didn't spit in mine, did he?" Tre asked.

"Of course not," she replied.

They drank, talked, and cut up until being tipsy was out of the question.

"I love you man, you're the greatest,"Tre said as he threw his arm around Becky's shoulders. "Why don't you say we get out of here and play a game that doesn't have to do with clothes?"

She laughed and laid her head on his shoulder. "I don't know about that."

He wiggled his brows and grinned at her.

Niki lay in the booth next to them singing 'Walking On Sunshine' to the top of her lungs.

"I feel so great! So revived!" she screamed.

Tre popped his head over the seats, "Then you wanna have a threesome?"

"That's okay, I have a boyfriend. He's a Gorilla. His name is Valerie, although I have never met a guy with that name before."

"Whatever floats your boat."

She stayed there until another head poked over the seat.

"Hey, handsome," she said.

"So, looks like we're alone."

Niki sat up and looked around. Everyone was gone.

"Seems like it."

He moved over to her booth and scooted up close to her. "So, how about you come back to my place?"

He moved in on her. His arms snaked around her waist and shoulder and their lips danced for what seemed like forever.

He pulled back. "Let's go." He pulled her wrist and called a cab.
