‹ Prequel: It Rains When I Cry

A Healing Touch

The Truth Hurts

Matt was ready to leave the hospital, and the doctors were impressed to how well he had healed. Even Levi had been surprised. They had kept him for almost a week and from what he heard when the others came to visit him they were waiting until they talked to Angelique’s niece before they went back into the house. He had been told about the fact that the ghost had gotten out of the attic and now he was worried. Had hurting it made it stronger? Was it his fault? He looked up as his sexy angel nurse walked and smiled.

She shook her head at him and enjoyed the quiet in the room. She could think peacefully in his room, which was why she took as long as possible doing her job in there. That and while he was sleeping she helped clean his wounds and you could barely tell he had been shot or stabbed. She smiled now as she told him she needed to check on them.

“So how’s come I’m healing faster than they thought I would Willa?” He asked it was an actual question from him instead of the flirting he normally did.

“I don’t know, but whatever the reason is they’re thankful. Any pain today?”

“Not from the wounds no.”

“I don’t follow…”

“Sorry I’m just missing my girlfriend that’s all.”

“Hasn’t she come and visited you?” Willa asked.

“She died last week.”

“Oh I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay. It just hurts sometimes.”

“I couldn’t even imagine.”

“You must’ve really loved her.”

“I was gonna ask her to marry me…”

“Well she must’ve been special then.”

“Yeah Val was…”

“Val, we had a girl in here a week ago named Val…oh my god I’m so sorry. I didn’t realize…”

“It’s okay. They never told me… Do you know what went wrong?”

“Look I could lie to you and that would be wrong, so I’m just gonna be honest. We have no clue. I was on duty that night. I went in to check on her and there was some guy in the room with her and I started to say he needed to leave when he was just gone. And two seconds later she flat lined…are you okay?”

“Willa, will you do me a favor?”

“Get the fuck out?”

“Get Levi”

“Yeah sure.” He was probably gonna tell Levi she was insane and get her fired. She shouldn’t have trusted him. She walked out and motioned to Levi.

“He wants to see you.”

“No problem, go take a break you look upset.” ‘she looks ready cry what the hell did he do to her’ is what he was thinking. She shook her head. He wouldn’t be thinking that if he knew she was a freak. She watched him for a moment and then a few moments later he walked back out. “Willa, come her for a minute.” She walked over and then into the room and Levi promptly closed the door behind her.

“What exactly happened in that room?”

“Am I in trouble?” She asked quietly.

“No, but you’ve just dove head first off a rising cliff.”

“HUH?”

“Levi, let me…” and Matt sat up in the bed a little bit better. “You might wanna sit down…”

“I’ll stand thanks.” She was suddenly wishing she knew what he was thinking. But there was such a serious look on his gorgeous face that she sat at the end of his bed and waited. He told her everything from the day that his friend Ana had bought the house next door on and she sat there listening. She was shocked. She wanted to yell what the fuck stupid mother fucking ghost but somehow thought that might be a little inappropriate. All the thought made her laugh. Which caught them all of guard.

“I’m serious.”

“No, I know it’s not that I promise. I just got this insane need to yell what the fuck stupid mother fucking ghost but thought it might be a bad thing…” She replied touching his hand gently to let him know that she believed him. They both pulled back almost immediately after she touched him. “What the fuck was that?”

“No clue…” Matt was looking at her curiously. He couldn’t like someone this soon after Val could he? No way in hell he could. He had loved her too much. But why in the hell was his attraction to Willa growing quickly.

“I think you need to call someone to cover for you Willa, there’s someone you need to talk to.” Levi told her.

“Uhm…okay?” Willa said. Matt watched her for a moment she looked so confused. Her cell phone went off a moment later and she was suddenly embarrassed. Matt hid a smile as she answered it.

“I can’t talk right now Mya.”

“Call me back when you can.”

“Alright…” She hung up the phone. “Sorry about that…my sister… she’s annoying… I was on break so I turned my phone on…”

“Nice ring tone.” Matt said grinning. She blushed.

“Uh yeah… did I mention she’s annoying?”

“Burn It Down’s perfect for an annoying sibling.” Matt said grinning. Levi rolled his eyes at the two of them. At least despite everything he was smiling.
