Sequel: The City Spins Around

The Last Goodbye

A Kinky Food Fight Sounds Like Something I Would Do

Patrick stood in the kitchen, shocked that it was spotless. When he had left last night, there had been cake all over the floor and countertop from where he and Raylene had had their food fight. But, now, there was not a speck of cake. Had Raylene spent all night cleaning it up?

He couldn’t dwell on it any longer as Adam walked into the kitchen, a bagel in his hand. “How was your night last night?” he inquired, and Patrick wondered if he should tell him the truth or not, about what Delaney had told him, and the possibility that she could actually have feelings for him.

“Interesting,” Patrick replied, and Adam looked at him with a confused look.

“What do you mean?” he asked.

“Well, I had a food fight with Raylene,” he said, leaving out the part about kissing Delaney and what she had said afterwards. Adam raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the food fight. “Yeah, her and Kristalyn made a chocolate cake last night, and then a food fight came about,” he recalled, not really remember what had started the food fight in the first place. “And, then I kissed Raylene,” he said, not knowing why he felt compelled to add that detail in there.

“Oooh, a kinky food fight,” Adam reacted. “Sounds like something I would do. Was Delaney involved in this food fight? Because that would have been hot.”

“What about me?” Delaney asked, having heard her name. She looked between Adam and Patrick, wondering what they had been talking about.

“Apparently, Kaner’s having food fights with the girls,” Adam shrugged his shoulders.

“Funny you should mention food,” Delaney said, and Patrick looked over at her, furrowing his eyebrows. “Your date today has to deal with food,” she told him, and Patrick continued to stare on her, waiting on her to continue. “You will be having a lesson in cooking,” she explained.

“Good, because Kaner needs a lesson in cooking. He can’t cook to save his life,” Adam joked.

“Like you’re one to talk. All you eat is food that other people make. Or cereal. You can handle making cereal and that’s about it,” Patrick argued.

“Whatever,” Adam scoffed.

“Okay,” Delaney stepped between the two of them. “Pat, go get ready for your date. We’ll leave in about a half an hour,” she told him, and he nodded his head, heading up the stairs to his room to change his clothes. “Why do you do that?” Delaney asked as she turned around, looking up at Adam.

“Why do I do what?” he asked, honestly having no idea what she was talking about.

“Why do you always put him down?” Delaney inquired. “No matter what it is, you find a way to put him down,” she explained.

Adam shrugged his shoulders. “I don’t know. It’s just how we act around each other. Why? Why do you care anyways? You feel bad for him or something? I mean, you’re the one who turned him down when he wanted to date you,” he told her, and her eyes went wide as she realized Patrick had already told Adam about what had happened between the two of them. “Shouldn’t you feel bad about that?” he questioned.

“Listen, what happened between me and Patrick,” Delaney began, trying to figure out the best way to go about this.

“I don’t care that you two kissed or whatever the hell you did,” Adam interrupted her, knowing what she was about to say. “I’m not going to tell anyone if that’s what you’re worried about.”

“Thank you,” she told him.

“I’m just saying, don’t you think you should feel bad about turning him down? You get so upset with the things that I say, but don’t you think you hurt him a little bit more?” Adam questioned. Delaney bit her lip, not knowing how to reply to that.

“I told Pat the same thing I told you. I can’t date someone that I work with.”

“That’s the excuse you hide behind, but it’s not the truth. You won’t go out with Kaner because you don’t like him like that,” Adam told her.

“Oh, really?” she questioned, and Adam nodded his head, not breaking their eye contact.

“Yep, that excuse is complete bullshit. You hide behind it,” Adam repeated. “And, as far as going out with me, you’re scared to,” he continued, and Delaney looked at him confusedly. “You’re scared of falling for me,” he said.

Delaney burst out laughing. “Please, Adam, I am not afraid of falling for you,” she told him. “You’re a player, a heartbreaker. You’re someone that I’d never fall for,” she assured him.

“Then prove it,” he challenged.

“What?”

“Prove it,” he repeated. “Go out with me. One date. Prove to me that you won’t fall for me.”

“Adam,” Delaney began.

“Let me guess, you’re going to pull out that bullshit excuse and hide behind it, right?” he asked her with a raised eyebrow.

Delaney sighed, angry that he knew her that well. “Actually, what about tonight?” she asked, surprising him. “There’s no elimination, and Pat’s date today should be done by this afternoon. So, how about we go out tonight?” she suggested. Adam stared at her for a few moments, trying to figure out if she was being serious or not. “Unless you don’t want to.”

“Oh, no, I want to,” Adam told her. “I’ll pick you up at eight,” he said with a smile as Patrick came back down the stairs, walking back into the kitchen. “Ready for your date?” Adam asked him, intentionally not telling him the conversation he had just had with Delaney, and Patrick nodded his head in response.

“Let’s go get the girls then,” Delaney said, walking out of the kitchen. She proceeded to bring all of the girls downstairs and let Adam explain to them exactly what was going to happen on their date. A couple of them cheered and a couple of them groaned, obviously not liking the idea of cooking. Adam couldn’t help but notice a smirk on Patrick’s face as he looked at Raylene, and he shook his head, thinking just how quickly Patrick moved on from Delaney.

An hour later, everyone was deeply engrossed in cooking after having a lesson from a local chef, and currently, some girls were having a better time than others. Juliette was chatting away with Patrick when she suddenly exclaimed, “Shit! I forgot about my cookies!” She quickly ran over to the oven, opening it up and taking her cookies out, all of them burnt to a crisp.

She looked over at Patrick, biting her lip, and he couldn’t help but feel sorry for her. “Hey, you can have some of mine when they’re done,” he told her, pointing to the oven that held his cookies.

“Thanks,” she smiled at him, reclaiming her spot next to him while Bethann took out her perfectly baked cookies, setting them on the cooling rack. Patrick moved closer to her, causing Juliette to give Bethann a dirty look, something that Adam noticed and started laughing about from his spot in the corner of the room.

“What?” Delaney asked from beside him, wondering where his sudden laughter had come from.

“Oh nothing,” Adam shook his head. “I just find these girls funny. It’s like they think that Pat’s really here to find a girl that he’s going to spend the rest of his life with. In reality, he’s just looking for a good fuck,” he said casually. Delaney spun her head around, looking at Adam with wide eyes, shocked by his bluntness. “What?” Adam questioned. “You know it’s true.”

“You don’t know that,” Delaney argued.

“Actually, I do,” Adam said, turning his body around so he was fully facing her now. “Come on, do you really believe that a twenty-one year old kid is going to come on a reality tv show, looking to find the person he’s going to spend the rest of his life with?” he questioned. “Or, is he going to go on a reality tv show, looking for some hot girls that he can sleep with?”

“Maybe he originally came on here for a quick lay, but how do you know that he’s not going to end up finding the girl of his dreams?” she countered.

“Because the one girl that he actually had feelings for shot him down,” Adam replied, and Delaney shut her eyes, knowing he was talking about her.

“You know, I don’t get you at all,” Delaney said, her voice raising before she saw everyone look behind them at her, and then she quickly lowered her voice once again. “You pretend to be all into me, telling me I should give you a chance and go on a date with you. And, now you’re telling me that I should be with Pat? What the hell do you want me to do?” she asked.

“I never told you to be with Kaner,” Adam pointed out, only making her even angrier.

“You try to make me feel guilty for turning him down!” she exclaimed. “I don’t know what to do! I should have just listened to myself in the first place and not fallen for either one of you!”

“So, you do like me?’ Adam asked with a smirk on his face, and Delaney glared at him. “Stop playing hard to get,” he suddenly said. “If you want to go out with Kaner, go out with him. If you want to go out with me, go out with me,” he said simply.

“What if I don’t know what I want?” Delaney questioned.

“Figure it out soon,” Adam told her, walking away, leaving Delaney sitting there, wondering what exactly she was going to do.

I'm not really feeling this chapter.
And, I still have no idea who I want Delaney to end up with.
