A Party Song

I looked around the crowded lunch room holding a tray with the school cafeteria food. With no other choice, I walked over to the lonely table by the dumpster. I looked down at my food with disgust.

"Yeah, it's probably better to brown bag it around here. The so called 'food' the lunch lady makes, is disgusting" A girl smiled down at me. I gave her a weak smile back. "I'm Kennadee Thomas, thought we'd come say hi."

"We heard there was a new student around, we also heard you've been getting picked on all day. Thought you might want someone to talk to, and I'm Kara Diakoulas" the other one smiled. They were both gorgeous and looked like sweet girls.

"I'm Ocean Miller. I just moved to Baltimore, and thanks, today's been really hard. This is my first time moving to a new town, having no one there to talk to sucks" I told them.

"Oh, well would you like to come sit with us? Our table is right over there" Kennadee offered. I looked over to see four boys and a girl clinging to one of the four boys sitting at a table. I looked at it skeptically and turned back to them.

"Uh, sure" I said picking up my tray. They each gave me a small smile and led me to their table. They took a seat and motioned for me too. The boys looked up at me with smirks, and the girl just glared at me.

"Oh! You're the new girl!" the one with messy brown hair said, Kennadee smacked him on the arm playfully.

"Guys, this is Ocean Miller, she's new here, we thought she needed a couple of friends"Kara said linking arms with the one of the others.

"Hi, I'm Rian Dawson, nice to meet you, welcome to Dulaney" he smiled. Kara smiled at him.

"Are they...-" I asked Kennadee.

"Since sophomore year" she stated simply taking a sip of her water.

"I'm Jack" the one beside him said with a goofy grin on his face.

"Hi"

"I'm Alex" the one with messy brown hair said. I waited for the girl to say something, but she kept on glaring at me. Alex rolled his eyes. "And this is Lisa, my girlfriend" he said. She smiled and planted a kiss on his lips, everyone rolled their eyes and looked away.

"Hey! Let's see your schedule!" Kara said. I rummaged through my things, finding the little piece of paper with my classes on it and handed it to her. She took a pen out and started looking at my classes writing things down. The bell rang and she handed it back to me. "What locker do you have?" she asked.

"Um, 192" I told her.

"I had that locker last year. I'll come by and we can walk to Chem together" she told me. I nodded and everyone went their separate ways. I looked through the halls for my locker until I saw 192. I took out the piece of paper with the combination on it, and started turning the lock. I opened the lockers, and pulled out a scribbler, binder and textbook. I closed my locker waiting for Kara. I took a look at my schedule.

1st period- English with Kara and Rian
2nd period- History with Jack and Kennadee
3rd period- Study hall with Kennadee and Kara
4th period-Algebra with Alex, Kennadee and Rian
5th period-Lunch with all
6th period- Chemistry with Kara
7th period-Gym with Jack, Kennadee, Rian and Kara

"Ready for Chem?"a voice asked. I looked up to see Kara and nodded.

I looked for my mom's mini-van, but couldn't find it anywhere, it'd been 15 minutes since school ended. My phone buzzed in my pocket. Home flashed across the screen. What was she still doing at home? I groaned and pressed talk. "Where are you?!" I asked.

"I'm sorry honey, I just got home, I just got back from my meeting. I have to take your baby sister to the dentist. Do you think you could find your own way back?" Mom pleaded.

"I guess so..." I said and started walking. A car honked and I looked around. Behind me was Jack in his car.

"Need a ride home?" he asked. I smiled.

"Your my savior!" I told him getting in the car. He chuckled and sped off as I told him where to go. As we pulled up to the house, I grabbed my bag. "Thanks so much" I thanked him.

"No problem, see you tomorrow!" he waved. I waved running into the house.
