Under a Willow Tree

The Expecting

And so our story reaches the end...

Or so we thought. A few weeks have gone by since Tom and Jade broke up, granting Tom all the power to run to Willow and truthfully love her - but never really telling her all about it. Twelve wonderful days, and Tom has been lying to Willow all this time. Though, no one should be blaming him about not mentioning his break up to Willow or Georgia. Neither of the two have ever uttered her name or her whereabouts, asking how she was doing, for fear that the thought of Jade would occupy Tom's mind, distracting him from the real thing: Willow. So it remained so that neither Willow nor Georgia had any idea that Tom was a free man and Willow was the perfect candidate for his heart and soul.

Tom and Willow, though not an official couple, were beginning to draw closer to each other. So, it was apparent that Tom asked Willow to accompany him to a party that the production company of Harry Potter was throwing.

Willow agreed immediately that she would love to join him at the party, although she was unaware that all of the people whom she hasn't had closure with are going to be attending the same party: Rupert, Dan, and Jade.

Arriving at the party with Tom was absolutely nerve-wracking for Willow. The thought of bumping into Dan or Rupert hadn't occurred to her until the very minute they arrived there. She didn't tell Tom about Dan disapproving their relationship, and it didn't look like the right time to tell him about it. Tom, himself, looked also anxious, but he still got out of the car. Willow followed after him, grasping his wrist, rather than his own hand, when he offered it to her, hoping that nobody got any idea that they were "official" or that they were seeing each other.

The party was held at the pool area of a contemporary style mansion which belonged to one of the other producers of the movie. Pulling up to the venue, it was apparent that many were invited. Fortunately for both Willow and Tom, nobody seemed to do double takes on them as they passed by tons of people. Willow bit her lip, secretly praying that she didn't bump into Jade, Dan, or Rupert.

"This party looks awesome." Willow commented, as they approached the bar for some drinks.

"Yeah," Tom replied, handing her a cocktail. "These people really know how to throw the best parties."

Willow looked around nervously, sipping her drink. Tom did the same. After a few glances around the room, he had decided it was safe to let loose and to have some fun, so he dragged Willow over to the floor in front of the DJ to dance. The two had loads of fun, and joined in with some of Tom's friends whom they met up at the party, though they brushed off any implications that the two were dating.

"By the way, Tom, where's Jade?" One of Tom's guy friends asked. Willow awkwardly sipped her drink and pretended to be interested at a colorful Japanese lantern that hung nearby.

"She's somewhere." Tom shrugged nonchalantly, though his heart beat sped up with every single drop of hope that no one asked if they really did break up.

But the damage had been done, when Willow pried her eyes away from the Japanese lantern and letting her gaze fall on Jade, who stood a few feet away from her and Tom. The look on Jade's face proved of the shock that Willow expected. Willow had always anticipated that one day when Jade would finally find out what Tom had been doing behind her back. Of course, Willow didn't know that whatever Tom was doing was completely legit, considering that he and Jade were no longer together.

Willow looked away quickly, but Jade was already walking over to them.

"Tom!" Jade smiled at him. "Nice to see you here."

"Of course, Jade." Tom forced out a smile. "I was invited."

"I see you brought Willow along." Jade glanced at her. "You really can't seem to help yourself from sloppy seconds."

Willow looked from Jade to Tom, half confused and half offended. "What is she talking about?" She asked Tom.

"Oh, you haven't heard?" Jade's tone was bitter with sarcasm. "We've broken up."

"I - " Willow's mouth fell half open with utter confusion."I never knew - "

"Jade, what are you doing here?" Tom's brows furrowed with frustration.

"I was invited."

"No, I mean, what are you doing here. No one called you over, so you can go off and do whatever it is you do." Tom glared.

"Actually, I came over to tell you something." Jade smiled at him mockingly. "Something important."

The group of friends, that Willow and Tom were talking with earlier, leaned in closer to hear what it is she's got to say.

"I'm pregnant, Tom."

"Congratulations." Tom sneered. "It's no surprise the father is some bloke you met at a bar a few days ago."

Jade laughed grimly. "It's your child."

Willow's head spun and her stomach twisted with an emotion that seemed too complex to even explain. The party and people around were now gone. It was as if it were just Tom, Jade, and her alone.

"I - I've never..." Tom stuttered, trying comprehend the general idea of it all. "That's impossible, Jade."

"It's possible. It's bloody hell possible. And I hope you're happy because I know you'll be one hell of a dad." Jade giggled almost cruelly. "I sure hope it's a girl. What say you, Willow?"

Willow shook her head at her, as if to tell her that this whole situation wasn't a joke to her.

"A boy, huh?" Jade beamed at her quizzically. "Well, we'll see. Wanna go pram shopping with me? You can be the godmother. Isn't that exciting?"

SORRY for NOT updating in quite awhile. I just moved, so it took a LONG while for our internet to be set up. But don't worry. During the wait, I made myself useful by writing a lot of chapters full of D-R-A-M-A. Sort of. :)
