Ti Voglio Bene Tanto Tanto

Ti Voglio Bene Tanto Tanto

"Missy, come on!" Rebecca yelled at me, running down the hall.
"Rebecca, you gotta chill hun. Prom hasn't started yet." I replied, fixing my dress.
"I know, I'm just excited. Mitchell flippin Davis is waiting for me on the other side of those doors." I giggled a little.
"You've been dating him for a month now and you still cant believe it can you?"
Her smile widened to the point of no return, while shaking her head. She turned around and bolted through the doors.
"At least your boyfriend could be here instead of Italy." I mumbled.

Fluffing my hair, I fixed a smile on my face and entered the room.
"Melissa!" AJ and Kristen yelled.
"The decorations look fabulous! You and Rebecca did a fantastic job!" I smiled and hugged them.
"Aw, thanks girls."

After speaking to a few people, and fixing a few decorations, I decided to get some punch.
My bright yellow dress glimmered under the lights and made me wish even more that Nick could be here.

"Okay, party pooper. Whats wrong?" Aj and Kristen asked as we watched the couples pair up to dance.
I glanced at Rebecca and Mitchell. They were so happy.
"Nothing." I replied, turning to face AJ.
"Stop lying." Kristen stated.
I laughed a little. "I'm not."
"Melissa Leanne, we are your sisters, and we know when you're lying." Aj replied.
I placed my empty cup on the table before looking at both girls.
"I just miss Nick. Thats all."
She hugged me and Kristen placed her head on my shoulder.
"I know. We miss Joe and Kevin, but they will be home soon."
My smile widened as I heard the next song start to play.

"Lets get it bouncin, in here.
BOUNCE! Just bounce, lemme see that body bounce.
Cause my rhymes are so fly, and my jeans are so tight
that I make these people bounce."

Kristen grabbed my arm and pulled me onto dance floor.
"Its prom! Have fun!"

"B to the O to the U to the N to the C to the E, wait I cant dance."
I yelled, jumping in the middle of the huge circle.
Aj and Kristen both jumped in next to me.
"Thats okay, we'll show you how to bounce!"
I couldn't help but laugh.

Before I knew it the song was over, and it was time to announce the prom queen and king.
"Can we have our contestants for prom queen to the stage please?"
I smiled and stepped onto the stage. This is something I've dreamed about since freshman year. Now here I am, a senior, and I thought I had it in the bag.
Kristen and AJ were on either side of me. We were all running against each other, for fun of course.
"And your prom queen is..."
I closed my eyes.
"Rachel Evans!"
My mouth dropped to the floor.
"SHE WASN'T EVEN ON THE BALOT!" Aj voiced.
"It was a write-in." Mrs. Cambell replied.
Once again the snooty popular girl gets everything she wants and Monday she'll be throwing it in my face.
"Meliss, you're okay right?" Kristen asked.
"Oh yeah. Its not the end of the world. I'm fine." I replied.
Whatever. Prom queen is just a lable anyways that people forget after a few weeks. Now I'm back to square one. Just missing Nick.
I turned to Kristen. "I'm gonna take a walk okay?"
and with that I left.

I walked out the door and looked at the lake across the road.
Sitting on the dock I dangled my feet over the edge. Dang. I'm still too short to reach the water. My tears rippled in the lake as they fell one by one.

"Melissa?"
I turned around and couldn't believe what I saw.
"Nick!? What are you doing here?!"
I jumped up and hugged him.
"I got back early. Joe and Kevin just snuck inside to find Kristen and Aj. Are you okay?"
I laughed a little.
"Breathe Nick. I'm better now that you're here."
He smiled and kissed my cheek.
"Well have they announced Prom Queen? Did I miss it? Did you win?"
My smile faded. "Yeah. Rachel got it."
He let got of my hands and reached in his jacket.
"I think I can fix that."
He pulled out a little disney princess crown from Wal*Mart.
"You're prom queen in my book."
I giggled as he placed it on my head.
"May I have this dance?"

There we were. Dancing on the dock, under the stars, with no music.
"You look beautiful. I love how your converse match your dress."
I laughed a little as he dipped me.
"Woah, where did you learn how to dance like that?"
"I picked up a few things in Italy." He smiled.
"How about Itlalian?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "A little."
"Like what?"
He kissed me softly.
"Ti Voglio Bene Tanto Tanto."
