A vampire always gets what he wants.

Chapter 11

Recap…

Watching with narrow eyes, I followed the red car until it was nothing but a red speck in the distance, before breathing out a long frustrated breath, as I willed my fangs away. The murderous rage I once felt slowly diminished as the seconds passed by. What the fuck did he mean by, ’checking to see if the rumours were true’? No one knew about Kate except for my brother and my uncle. Unless, there was a traitor amidst our walls. Damn it, I would have to deal with it later, for now there was no time to dwell on the past. We had to leave and we had to leave now. Because there was no telling what Evander would do with this new found knowledge.

Chapter 11

[Kate’s POV]

Sebastian was a vampire. A blood sucking, people killing, back from the dead vampire. I can’t believe I didn’t see it before! How could I be so naïve.

I closed my eyes, taking in a deep breath trying to calm my erratic heartbeat. The memories of the night my parents were killed filled my head, everything made sense now. The lack of blood in my father’s body, the sickening sight of my mother’s body after going through a wall.

I quickly opened my eyes, not wanting to be lost in my memories. Sebastian was still standing in the same place, his back facing me as I watched his shoulders shake vigorously, his hands clenched into fists, exposing the dark veins running the length of his forearms. I had to get away from him, there was no doubt in my mind that if I stayed I would end up just like my parents.

As quietly as I could I stood back up onto my feet slowly backing away, but before I could even take one step back Sebastian turned around. His handsomely pale face was blank and his eyes were closed as he spoke, “Kate, relax. I’m not going to hurt you,” he said in a soft velvety voice as he opened his eyes slowly walking towards me with his hands held up in front of him in surrender. I mimicked his every step with one step back in terror, not wanting to be anywhere near him. The image of him with his…fangs… filled my head. He was a monster. A cold blooded killer. A vampire.

I made a run for it, sprinting as fast as I could. Glanced back, I knew Sebastian would be hot on my trail, but he was no where to be found. I suddenly slammed into a wall of hard flesh, momentarily having the breath knocked right out of me.
“There’s no point trying to run Kate, because I’ll always catch you,” he whispered into my ear as his arms held me up against his chest. I couldn’t respond, because I was still trying to catch my breath.

I looked up into Sebastian’s face, seeing no trace of the monster he was just a moment ago. He looked so normal, yet he was the farthest from normal, because I knew what laid under that cold, and utterly flawless exterior, but as I stood there wrapped in his arms, I felt no fear, just a sense of belonging. My body felt so safe nestled into his arms, like there was nothing that could ever hurt me when he was around, but I knew that wasn’t true. This wasn’t a fairytale this was really life.

I tried to push out of his embrace but he only loosened his grip enough to see my face clearly.
“We must leave now, but before we go I have to clean up this mess. So just stay here and don’t bother trying to run away again because I’ll just drag you back here, understand.” I just looked down, my hair covering my face as I gave a simple nod.

Sebastian let out an aggravated sigh before he ran off. I lifted my head and turned to see him reaching into the passengers seat of the Mercedes before walking around and grabbing a gasoline can from the trunk. Sebastian sped off into a blur towards the SUV where he started pouring gasoline all over it. I watched as the SUV erupted into flames, the two men still inside.

Sebastian darted back to the Mercedes throwing the gas can back into the trunk.
“Kate hurry up lets go,” he shouted out to me. I ran towards the car hearing the sense of urgency in his voice. I jumped into the passenger seat and Sebastian immediately sped off.

As soon as we reached the small town Sebastian parked the car in a random parking lot, seeing as we couldn’t drive around with a blown out rear window and numerous bullet holes everywhere without raising suspicion.

Sebastian pulled out his phone and called us a taxi, but it wasn’t going to be here for another fifteen minutes. So Sebastian and I walked over to a bus bench and sat down in wait. I had so many unanswered questions I wanted to have answered but I was to nervous to ask.
“Kate…” I lifted my head up as Sebastian whispered my name, looking into his stunningly blue eyes.
“Just tell me what you want to know”, he sighed out. Oh god I hope he can’t read minds too! “Can you read minds?”, I blurted out without thinking. Sebastian smiled as he said, “Sadly no, I can’t read minds, but to me you’re like an open book I can tell what you’re thinking just by looking at your face.” I could feel a blush rising to my cheeks. I quickly changed the subject and said, “I thought vampires couldn’t go out into the sun?”
“Myth. Just like garlic and holy water,” he said with a laugh.
“…Why did you kill my parents…” I whispered out looking directly into his eyes to see his reaction. Sebastian’s smile faded away as his jaw clenched. “They were trying to keep me away from what was mine,” he said softly as he stared right back at me, “And I always get what I want Kate. Always.”

For the next five minutes we waited in silence, the tension was thick in the air, but neither of us attempted to break it. Soon enough a taxi pulled up in front of us. I slipped into the back seat as Sebastian helped the taxi driver put our bags into the trunk. After 20 minutes we were at the airport. Sebastian paid the driver and then loaded our bags onto a luggage cart.

As we headed through the front doors Sebastian grabbed my hand and laced his fingers through mine. I looked up at him feeling a tingle run up my spine, as his face curled into a small smile.

-----~~~~~~------

“Where to?”
“1011 West Cordova street,” Sebastian said to the taxi driver. I looked out the window as we got onto the freeway. Vancouver was a huge change from England and even Detroit. There were trees everywhere, and breath taking views of snow capped mountains filled the far horizon.

Twenty-five minutes later we pulled up in front of a huge apartment building. As I stepped out from the taxi I took in the huge high rises on both sides of the street which were lined with little trees full of yellow, red and orange leaves signalling the arrival of fall. People were walking up and down the streets with their big puffy jackets and scarves and I rubbed my hands up and down my arms as a gust of cold air blew towards me, making me regret just wearing a thin sweater this morning.

“Kate come on let’s go,” Sebastian said breaking me out of my thoughts. Sebastian held the door open as we made our way into the building and I glanced around in awe. The entrance was painted a deep ruby red and the floor was covered with a black, white and grey marble tile. In the center of the room sat a huge mahogany desk, covered with intricate designs carved right into the wood. The lobby just screamed money, as we walked into the huge glass elevator, and Sebastian pressed one of the buttons on the panel. I slowly pulled away from Sebastian’s side, trying to ignore the tingly feeling running along my side. I could feel his stare on the side of my face, but I ignored it and looked out at the stunning outside views as we climbed higher and higher.

Finally the elevator dinged open. Sebastian led the way down a lavish hallway covered in a ruby red plush carpet, black painted walls, and gold coloured torches were lit along the walls, giving it a kind of gothic feel.

Sebastian stopped at a door numbered P1, pulling out a key and unlocking the door. I followed Sebastian in taking in the huge open concept room. It looked more like a house than a condo, with its huge comfy looking leather sofas, big screen tv, and huge windows that gave a panoramic view of the city. “Wow, this is amazing,” I said as I walked over to the window looking down at the huge body of dark blue water colourfully lit up with the lights from the surrounding city.

A pair of arms suddenly pulled me into an embrace from behind. I felt his cool breath on my ear as he placed a soft kiss under my ear before he whispered, “Well I’m glad to hear you like it.” I leaned back into his chest closing my eyes, liking the way his soft cool lips felt against my hot skin. Kate snap out of it, I yelled inside my head, he’s not who you think he is.

I immediately pulled out of his backwards embrace, trying to put some distance between us. “C…can I use the bathroom”, I stuttered out needing to be away from for a minute so I could settle down my frazzled nerves from touch of his sensuous lips.
“Sure, you can just use mine. It’s just down the hall the first door on your right.” I didn’t even respond as I practically sprinted down the hall towards the bathroom. I roughly pulled open the door and slammed it behind me, leaning up against the door as I tried to catch my breath.

“Well well well, looks like Sebastian brought me a snack,” a low seductive voice purred. My head snapped up in surprise as the sight of a scantily clad
woman draped across the bed came into view. “Who…who are you?” I asked in a quiet voice.
“Ah ah ah,” she said in a sickly sweet voice as she started to crawl across the bed towards me with the grace of a predator slowly closing in on their prey.
“Talking time is later, now its time for the fun.” Then in the next instant I was abruptly thrown onto the bed with such force I had to stop myself from choking at the sudden loss of air.

I slowly raised my head off the bed looking to see where the half naked women went.
“I’m going to make you feel so good darling, I promise it won’t hurt a bit,” she suddenly said jumping down on top me holding my hands up above my head. I looked up at her face and saw large fangs sticking out between her red stained lips. I screamed as loud as I could, but she placed her small delicate hand over my mouth with force, cutting off my screams. She looked down at me with a malicious smile on her face as her fangs inched closer to my neck and I felt the tears start to run down my cheeks as I closed my eyes in wait of the soon to come pain.

There was a s huge deafening bang, as the walls around me shook the bed. I instantly opened my eyes to find the women gone from above me, and I jerked up from the bed. Sebastian stood facing the wall holding the woman by her neck against the wall.
“What the hell are you doing here Natasha!” Sebastian yelled angrily as he pressed the woman harder against the wall.
“…I heard you were coming back into town”, she purred out sliding one of her fingers slowly across his arm. “And I really, really missed you, so I wanted to give you a little surprise.”

I looked away, not wanting to hear anymore.
“We’re over Natasha how many times do I have to fucking tell you!”
“I know you don’t mean it Sebastian. I know you love me, why else would you bring me a snack,” the girl named Natasha said looking over at me, her blue eyes starting to turn black. Sebastian turned his head to see where she was looking at and as we locked eyes I saw a burning rage build-up in his eyes. “Kate is not a snack, she’s mine,” Sebastian growled out his fangs popping out from under his upper lip.
“What the hell do mean she’s yours! Your mine!” Natasha shrieked out in rage.
“Natasha get the fuck out of here I told you we’re done, its over between us.”

Sebastian let go of Natasha’s neck and she feel gracefully onto her feet.
“Sebastian, baby don’t do this, remember all the great times we had here. Especially on your bed,” she purred out pushing herself up against Sebastian’s chest and stroking his arms. Sebastian pushed her roughly away from his chest before he walked over to me. “Are you okay Kate, she didn’t bite you did she,” he said in the softest tone as he gently pushed my hair away from my neck to check for any marks.
“How could you pick a weak and pathetic human over me!” Natasha screamed. If looks could kill, I would be ten feet under the ground by now from the way Natasha glared at me with utter hatred.

Sebastian ignored her, as he continued to look over every inch of my body making sure I wasn’t hurt.
“Mark my words Sebastian. You will be mine!” Natasha screeched before disappearing out of the room.
