School will be starting soon.
Now that I'm of age,
don't think I'll go back.
Too much focus on things less important.
Too many prying eyes,
gawking and
critiszing.

think I'll empty out my savings account,
go somewhere
away.
Cut all ties.

New beginning.
Just me,
myself
and I.

Enrollment was yesterday;
never went.
Told Mom that I
need to take a year off
and be alone
to work on myself.

She said it was a good idea.
If she only knew.

Didn't take long
to find a place
that I can call my own.
Desperate times
require desperate measures.

Studio apartment
furnished with the bare essentials.
Brings a smile to my face
to open the fridge
and see nothing
but white light.

First night there,
turned the cooler on and
opened all the windows.
slept in nothing and
wanted to reverse it all,
curl up in a warm blanket.
But the cold
forces the body to work hard.
Work hard to warm it up.
Hard work means
calories burned.
