Your Eyes Tell Me What I Need to Know

Twelve

Two weeks without contact felt longer. The six game road trip felt longer than it was and part of the reason was because she had gotten benched after the third game. She knew it was coming, especially with the way she had been playing. There was no excuse for it, she knew better than to let off the field drama effect how she was on the field. But it did and she couldn’t go to the cause of the problem, she wouldn’t go back. She wouldn’t be the woman that would be left while the guy she liked went out with other girls and she was at home wondering if he was sleeping with them or if he’d come back to her. No, those days had to disappear. Even if he Hank had treated her better than any man had before and he made her feel things that she hadn’t felt before, if she were ever to go back to anything with him, things had to change. The knocking on the door brought Katrina out of her thoughts. Placing Checkers in her arm, she walked to the door and looked into the peep hole before letting the person inside.

“So before we get going, you need to change your shirt.” Sam told her with a smile on her face.

“The only Rangers shirt or jersey I own has Hank’s name on it and that’s in a box under the bed and I’m not getting it out.”

“No you loser, wear this one.”

Turning her head she felt the something hit her head. Grabbing the object, she pulled it off her head and looked at it. It was just like the Lundqvist shirt she had, but only this time on the back it had Marc’s last name and his jersey number. “I don’t understand.”

“Marc and I knew that you’d want to wear something to support him and his team even if you and Hank aren’t really together or sleeping together anymore,” Sam explained as she took Checkers from Katrina’s arms. “And so we thought about whose shirt to get you. At first we were going to get you Avery, but then I didn’t want to waste my money on that, so I got you Marc’s.”

“I was thinking of just wearing a regular tee.”

“No, you need to show Hank that you aren’t gonna wait forever for him to realize what it is that he lost by sleeping around on you.”

“We weren’t really together,” Katrina sighed as she sat down in the recliner. “I just kind of forgot to let my heart know.”

“Yeah, I get it,” Sam told her. “So tonight when a bunch of us go out, you have to come with us.”

“I’d rather just stay home tonight.” Katrina told her honestly as she ran her hand through her hair that she had left down,

“Oh, no,” Sam told her. “If Hank can go out and have fun with other girls, then you can go out and have fun with guys and show him that you are so over him.”

“Even though I’m not?”

“We won’t let him know that.”

“He’s still seeing other girls?” Katrina asked, her voice broke a little as she felt the tears come to her eyes, but she blinked them away. “Did he ever ask about me while I was gone? Or was he too busy with his girls?”

“You haven’t been following their games, have you?” Sam asked. “Not that I can blame you, you had your own career to worry about. Marc said that you got benched. We didn’t call because Marc said some athletes get mad about being benched.”

“Some do,” Katrina agreed. “I was livid when I found out.”

“You didn’t do anything stupid, did you?”

“It was my own fault,” Katrina confessed. “This stays between us, right?”

“Right.” Sam confirmed.

“I have always had two mind frames. On the field and off. That way I don’t let anything affect the way I play my game,” Katrina said. “Hank really got to me. I really can’t believe I let it go on for so long, but I did and I blame myself for it, but at the same time I couldn’t get over it for two minutes to play a soccer game. I played like I was back in high school and not a professional. So I got benched and I deserved it.”

“So that proves that you have to come out tonight.”

Katrina gave her a weird look. “I have an afternoon press conference I have to go to.”

“So don’t get so wasted that you can’t make it,” Sam told her. “You can’t let Hank see how affected you really are.”

“And by going out after his game will show him that?”

“Trust me,” Sam smiled. “Tonight is one you won’t forget. But bring one of those cute tops because you don’t want to be wearing a Rangers shirt to the club. You’ll stand out way too much.”

Walking out of the living area, Katrina went into her bedroom and changed shirts. Going into her closet she looked over the tops she had. Picking a low-cut yellow top she took it off the hanger and grabbed her bag as she looked at Sam. “Well let’s go before I change my mind on this idea of yours.”

Tossing her top in the bag with Sam’s they both got settled for the trip to Madison Square Garden. Katrina hadn’t been there since she had blown up at Hank with some of his team mates around as well as some of the players of the Carolina Hurricanes, not to mention the woman Hank had been hung up over when she first met him. There was nothing like watching a hockey game with your lover’s former lover. That was just a bunch of fun. This time instead of Eric Staal playing against Marc, it was his younger brother Jordan.

There were certain players Katrina couldn’t keep her eyes off of. One was Marc’s brother. He was on fire. He and Marc were giving it to one another on the ice and neither one backed down from the other. When the Penguins came out, they were ready for it, but the Rangers had a bit of a slow start, but they came back in the second period. Unfortunately for the Rangers, the Penguins won. As much as she wanted not to look his way, her eyes looked at Hank in his goalie gear on the ice. His mask was on top of his head and he was mad. He wanted a win so bad and it had been in their grasp, but then the Penguins came back with two goals a minute apart and to top it off, there was an empty netter. Before heading to the locker room, Hank looked towards her. Sam grabbed her out of her seat and they started heading to the locker room. Part of her wondered what he was thinking when he saw that she wasn’t wearing his number anymore.

Katrina and Sam changed their shirts while waiting for the guys to shower and get dressed to go out. While waiting, Katrina tried to talk Sam out of making her go, but s he wouldn’t budge. As she was giving another excuse, the Rangers’ locker room door opened and Marc walked out followed by Hank. Marc walked over and surprised Katrina with a hug and she hugged him back. “So did Sam convince you to come with us tonight?” he asked.

Katrina gave him a small smile as she nodded her head.

“Good, you can ride with me, Sam and Jordan.”

“Your brother, right?” Katrina asked.

“Yeah, he’ll be out here soon.”

With a nod of her head, Katrina’s eyes strayed to Hank. He was standing with a fake blonde who wad giggling like a teenager. “So what happened at practice today?”

Sam’s question snapped her attention back to her friends.

“Sean and Hank got into it.”

“What do you mean they got into it?” Katrina asked. “Over what?”

“Sean was flapping his jaw around Hank about how tonight he was going to get you into bed and make you forget all about Hank,” Marc told her honestly. “Hank didn’t take too well to that. So they went at it until we pulled them away from one another.”

“He doesn’t get a say in my life anymore.” Katrina said softly, trying to believe it herself.

“No, he doesn’t,” Sam agreed. “And the sooner he realizes it, the better. He can’t treat you like that.”

“Next subject please.” Katrina requested, knowing that if they talked about Hank for an extended period of time, the tears would start to come.

“Speaking of Jordan here he comes.” Sam said, her eyes on someone behind Katrina.

“Jordan, this is Katrina Anderson, Katrina this one of my younger brothers, Jordan.”

“Hi,” Katrina said. “You played really well.”

“Thanks,” Jordan said. “You look familiar.”

“Jordan-“ Marc started.

“You’re the Swedish goalie’s ex,” Jordan said. “You two made the internet and some papers with your break-up.”

“I was never with Hank,” Katrina said as she turned and looked at Marc’s apologetic face. “Can we go?”

“Yeah, we’re meeting everyone there anyways.” Sam said as she and Katrina started walking ahead of the boys.

“Nice first impression Jordan.”

“I bet by the nights end, I can make her forget all about Lundqvist with no strings attached to me at all.”

“Jordan, she’s a friend of mine.”

“And I’m about to show her that she can get over him and show him that she’s over him.”

“Sometimes I really worry about your partying ways.”

“Believe me,” Jordan said as they walked past Hank. “She’ll have no complaints by the end of the night.”

After her third Apple Martini, Katrina was really having a good time. She had danced with Jordan before coming back to the booth with him to finish her fourth martini. When they first got to the club, Katrina had received a message from Abby letting her know that what they had to do tomorrow was in fact canceled. That made it easier to relax, at least until Hank had shown up with the fake blonde girl. That’s when Jordan really stepped in. He distracted her and that’s how she was left with him at the booth while everyone else was spread out around the club.

Running her hand through his blonde hair as his lips were attached to her neck, Katrina had closed her eyes. Releasing a gasp as she felt his hand move up from her knee to the inside of her thigh and give it a little squeeze. Moving her head, she looked into his piercing blue eyes. Giving him a small grin, she leaned over and placed a kiss on the corner of his mouth. Moving his hands to her hips he brought her into his lap. With her legs straddling him, he placed a soft kiss at the bottom of her neck.

“The goalie is looking this way,” Jordan whispered as his hands traveled from Katrina’s ass to under her shirt, staying on her back. “He doesn’t look to happy.”

“Are you for real?” Katrina asked. “I’m trying to get you as hot and bothered as you’ve made me and you want to talk about Hank?”

“You don’t think I’m bothered?” he smirked.

Dropping one of his hands out of her shirt, he grabbed one of her hands and placed it on the outside of his jeans. “I’m very bothered. So now why don’t we get out of here and take care of these problems?”

“I’m not looking for anything,” Katrina told him. “Besides sex.”

“I’ll do one better for you,” Jordan told her. “I’ll give great sex and in the morning if you want more then I’ll be more than willing to oblige.”

“Where do you want to go?” she asked, her hand traveling under his shirt. “Because you have no idea how bad-“

“My hotel is close by,” Jordan told her before kissing her. He had caught her by surprise, but it was a good surprise. As soon as his tongue entered her mouth, it was a battle for dominance. It was hard and fast paced and neither one of them wanted it to end, but it did. Jordan was surprised when she pulled back. Leaning near his ear, she bit down on his ear. “I think it’s time we leave.”

“It really is.” Katrina agreed with a smile.

Getting off Jordan’s lap, she grabbed her jacket and slipped it on as she waited as he did the same thing. With a smile on her face, Jordan waved to Marc and Sam before grabbing Katrina’s hand and walked passed where was sitting alone.

Waking up to someone biting the back of her neck, made Katrina groan. Last night had been amazing. Not once did she think of him. But after sleeping on it, she couldn’t help but think about the differences between Jordan and Hank. Hank was about what she wanted, how she felt. Jordan, well Jordan was fast and hot, not that sex with Hank wasn’t hot, but it was different.

Rolling to her side, she smiled at Jordan who couldn’t keep the grin on his face. Smiling back at him, Jordan slightly pushed her so that she was laying completely on her back. Feeling how hard he was already made Katrina groan. “You didn’t get enough last night?”

“Not a chance.”

Katrina couldn’t help but laugh before Jordan started playing with her breasts. Trying to contain the groan she was felt coming, didn’t work so well. This man had woke her up in a way she liked and now he already had her excited and waiting. There was no way she was going to allow him to torture her for how long he wanted to.

Wrapping her legs around his waist, Jordan looked into her eyes and knew what she wanted. Who was he to deny a woman what she wanted sexually?

Thrusting into her, Katrina gasped loudly as she gripped the bedspread in her hands. Jordan waited for her to adjust to his size as he had the night before and into the early and late morning. Pushing himself the rest of the way inside her, Jordan lowered his head closer to her body. His hands found the tattoos on her hips and the grin on his face was something she couldn’t explain. Using her legs to push him further into her, Katrina felt him bite the skin on the nape of her neck. “What’s with you men and tattoos?” she asked him.

“It makes you so much hotter.” Jordan said before claiming her lips with his in a heated kiss.

After Jordan broke the kiss, he started to withdraw himself from her, but then plunged himself right back inside. Moaning loudly, there was no way to keep that in. It felt too amazing. One thing Jordan Staal didn’t need was sex pointers. This was one area he had down pact and he had plenty of reasons to brag.

Katrina found herself finally leaving the hotel around four in the evening. And the great thing about the sex with Jordan, he actually meant what he said, no strings attached. There was nothing awkward about when she left. It was one of those things that she appreciated. When leaving the only thing she felt was satisfaction and soreness. Jordan liked it rough, which she took full advantage of as did he. There were at least three hickeys on her neck and more on the other places on her body that aren’t shown. Just thinking about what went down, made her blush.

Hailing a cab back to her apartment, Katrina had a satisfied smile on her face and there wasn’t anything anyone could do to take it away. At least she thought so. As she unlocked the door she walked inside and heard Checkers meow from her feet. Closing the door behind her, she tossed her keys into the bowl near the door before squatting down and picking up the kitten.

“Hey, baby,” she said as she stood back up. “Did you have a nice time in the bed all by yourself? Or did you have some kitty company?”

“Checkers had company, but not the feline kind.”

Katrina’s eyes widened as she saw the person come out of her bedroom.

“What are you doing here?”

So I'm not totally satisfied with this chapter. It might have to do with the fact that I've had bad day after bad day, but it might be because of something totally different reasons. Well anyways, comments are always appreciated. I love knowing what you're thinking. Thanks for reading.
