Bittersweet Endings

Paris

I stood there staring at Nicolette while licking the chocolate mousse off my finger. Licking my lips and eating some more. Nicolette normally doesn’t get violent, or to the point where she shoots at someone. When she does though, it kind of freaks me out.

She put her gun away and turned around to look at me. Nicolette smiled at me then walked onto the plane. I stood there still, eating my mousse. Did I mention that she makes the best chocolate mousse? Well, she does. I was kind of surprised when she gave it to me this morning. I guess she felt bad for slapping me yesterday, I have never been slapped before by a girl… or at least not as hard as Nicolette slapped me. Let me tell you, it hurt.

Letting out a tiny sigh I boarded the plane as well. Grabbing a spoon from the little kitchen area on my way to my seat. Nicolette already made herself comfy in a chair, a book opened on her lap. I sat down across from her, still eating my mousse. I glanced at Nic, she looked… different today.

She wore skinny jeans today, which may I say looked fantastic on her. I honestly didn’t think she owned a pair of skinny jeans. I think I know what I am getting her for Christmas this year. And let me warn you now, it wont be a gun.

Nic looked elegant today, she always does. And well, I didn’t feel so elegant. I looked down at my attire. My normal black skinny jeans, my blue Cute Kitty Drop Dead T-Shirt. Over that I wore my black Bat Cardigan from Drop Dead too. I left it unbuttoned, I felt like a nerd when I buttoned it. And to top if off, I wore my Nikes. I never go anywhere without these bad boys. Oh, and my black beanie. I chuckled at myself.

Nicolette looked up from her book, her eyes on me. A eyebrow cocked. “What’s so funny Jacoby?” she asked, placing her book marker in between the pages of her book.

I shrugged smiling, scooping up some more mousse and eating it. “Don’t worry bout it.” I said smirking.

She rolled her eyes at me. “You are a loser Jacoby. No one laughs to themselves. That is just not normal.” she said shaking her head and opening her book again.

I stared at her. “Hey now.” I said. Nicolette let out a laugh.

I believe I forgot to mention how I despise flying. It is so boring, there is hardly anything to do on a god damn small ass plane. They wouldn’t even let me smoke in there, and god only knows I needed one badly. I tried sleeping but I couldn’t, the chocolate mousse was keeping me awake.

“Are we almost there?” I asked, spinning around in my chair, staring at the ceiling.

“Jacoby keep your pants. We are almost there.” Nicolette said, not even glancing up from her book.

I looked down at my pants. “They are on still.” I stated.

That made Nicolette gave me the look. I smiled and stood up, I walked over to her and pinched her cheek. “You’re so cute when you give me the look.” I smiled before walking away to find something to do.

I walked over to the flight attendants. “Yes Jacoby, can I help you?” one asked, her eyes looked me up and down. I rolled my eyes in annoyance. Not this again. I thought.

“Yeah, I need a smoke. Where can I smoke?” I asked looking around.

They both gave me blank stares then looked from one another. “Sir, you cannot smoke on a airplane.” the one girl said politely.

I threw my arms up into the arm and rolled my eyes. “I don’t fucking care!” I turned on my heel and headed back to my chair.

I pulled out my pack of Newports. I took one out and pressed it to my lips, I lit it up. I took the biggest drag ever and boy did it feel good. Goddamn I love smoking. I let out the smoke and sighed happily.

“Jacoby what the bloody hell are you doing?!”

I looked over at Nicolette who was glaring at me. I just smiled and took another drag. “What does it look like I am doing baby, not killing myself. Well to humans smoking would be killing them. But for us vampires it does nothing-”

I felt the impact of Nicolette’s book on my head. I shot up holding my head. “What the hell!” I said looking at her.

She shook her head in annoyance and got up and walked away. I tossed her book after her and continued to smoke my cigarette. I wish this goddamn plane would land already. I thought.

My wish came true. Our plane landed and pulled into a gate at the airport. Nicolette and I got off and walked toward the car rental place. I was picking out which car we would be driving around in. I was pro at picking out cars.

We made our way through the crowed airport, Nicolette stayed close to me. I kept my hands in my pockets. Glancing around, I normally don’t glance around a lot but I was feeling… paranoid today. Like someone was watching us, I didn’t like it.

Pushing that aside we reached the rental place. The too cheery lady behind the counter greeted us. “Welcome, how can I help you?” she asked.

“Hey, uh I need,” I glanced at the list of cars. I heard Nicolette’s heels tapping against the floor. “I need to rent the black Aston Martin V12 Vanquish.” this was such a fun car to drive.

“All right sir, how long will you be staying here in Paris?” she asked, typing shit into her computer.

“No idea, sort of depends.” I said with a shrug. I took out my wallet and fished out the company credit card.

“All right,” she said taking the credit card. She handed me a slip of paper and I signed it. Pushing it back to her. “here are you keys. Have a nice honeymoon.” she smiled.

I took the keys trying to not laugh. I heard Nic stifle her laugh. “Uh, thanks,” I said grabbing Nicolette’s arm. “come on hun, let’s go.”

We walked away laughing. Humans are stupid. We walked out the door and I nearly damn creamed myself. Before us was parked the Aston Martin. My jaw hung open as I walked up to it. It was gorgeous.

“Oh my god Jacoby, it is just a car.” Nicolette said. She stood by the passenger door waiting for me to unlock the car.

“Not just any car wife, it is a Aston Martin V12 Vanquish. It is like the greatest car to drive.” I said unlocking the car and getting in.

I immediately dug my CDs out from my bag and popped in Bring Me The Horizon’s Count Your Blessings CD. Turning up the volume, I smirked and shifted into gear. Flooring it out of the parking lot, burning out before flying out. I scared the shit out of people.

I looked around laughing at their priceless faces. Nicolette held her head shaking it. I slipped on my shades and drummed my fingers along to the music.
