The Wonder of You

Breaking Houses

“PAULA MARIE LOMBARDI WHERE WERE YOU LAST NIGHT! You had your mother and me worried sick,” bellowed Mr. Lombardi angrily.

Paula smiled at her father and responded, “Geez Louise. Calm down, I was out.”

“OUT WHERE,” he asked.

“I’m fine, can we see that I’m fine. I was gone for four months and now you’re freaking about me being gone for a night?”

“Can you just tell us where you were? We called all your friends and they informed that you weren’t with any of them. So where were you Paula?”

“At Emmett’s,” she responded in a voice barely above a whisper afraid of what her father would say.

Mr. Lombardi’s face turned a crimson red with anger. He was a proud man, much prouder than Paula ever was and the thought of his daughter, of his little girl getting back with Emmett, the man who had left her at the alter when another woman appeared out of nowhere, was something he could not fathom.

Mrs. Lombardi saw the state that her husband was in, she knew how proud her husband was and was afraid of what might do out of anger. She placed her hand on his back, hoping that, that would calm him down but had no such luck.

“Are you seeing him again,” he asked in a deathly calm voice.

“Yeah. What’s it to you,” she shot back attempting to keep her composure.

“Don’t get fresh with me young lady.”

“I’m sorry dad, I’m just answering your question. You asked me if I’m with him, and I said yes. Then I asked you why it mattered to you, because last time I checked I’m the one that’s with him, not you.”

“How can you be with him! How can you FORGET WHAT HE DID TO YOU? WHAT HE DID TO THIS FAMILY IN FRONT OF THE ENTIRE TOWN!?”

“How could I forget what happened? I know what happened, I personally experience what happened and you know what. I’m not gonna spend the rest of my life being bitter over a mistake that he made. I know that he loves me, and I love him.”

“You don’t think things out kid! What will the town think about you?”

“About me or about you? I think you’re only mad because you feel that your names on the line, but guess what it’s not. The only name, the only reputation that’s on the chopping block is my own.”

“Don’t be silly. I’m thinking about you kid. I really don’t want the town to talk bad about you.”

“I don’t give a rats ass about what the town thinks about me. I’ve sacrificed enough for this town! I’ve sacrificed my own personal happiness long enough, and if you excuse me I’ve got my Emmett back and I don’t plan on losing ever.”

Paula and Mr. Lombardi glared at each other, for exactly one hour. Neither party moved or said a word, they blinked only when absolutely necessary. They were trying to make the other person give up, and neither one of them wanted to give up.

Finally Mrs. Lombardi grew tired of this and said, “ENOUGH! Charlie calm your ass down she’s a grown woman and can make her own damn choices!”

“But Martha.”

“No buts.”

Martha is not what people consider a menacing woman. She’s short, standing at around 5’7 and a rather plump woman, exactly what the stereotypical Italian mother/wife is portrayed as and has a very sweet nature.

Don’t be fooled though, because if you piss her off, you’re aggravating a storm. Mrs. Lombardi gave her husband a menacing look when he was about to open his mouth, and just as quickly as he had opened it he closed it.

Mr. Lombardi walked out of the room, muttering something about Italian women being too fiery to handle and Paula’s mother began to laugh. She walked over to her daughter and wrapped her in a strong hug.

She looked up and said, “It’s good to see you happy again sweet heart.”

“So you’re not mad, that I’m with him again?”

“No, you love him and if you can forgive him then we can as well,” responded her mother.

“Rosalie hurry up you’re gonna make me late! I’m never late.”

“Do I look alright?”

Paula felt like laughing at that question, how on earth could Rosalie Hale the most beautiful vampire in the world think that she looked ugly?

Paula smiled and said, “Your gorgeous beautiful. Now did you have anything today?”

“Three deer, I’m full to the top and ready to meet Frankie.”

“Good.”

Rosalie got into the backseat of Paula’s car and Emmett and Paula sat in the front. Paula drove quickly to the diner, wanting to catch Frankie’s reaction, when he saw the girl that Paula had chosen to be his blind date.

Frankie sat there, taking a hit from his joint. He saw Paula’s car pull into the parking lot of the diner and quickly tossed the joint to the floor, stepping on it to turn it off. He grabbed his comb through his back pocket and ran it through his hair; he had to look good for this lady.

“Yo Frankie!”

Frankie turned around and was about to say some dumbass remark to Paula, but he couldn’t. His eyes were frozen on Rosalie, on the most beautiful creature that he had ever seen in his whole life.

Paula slapped Frankie softly and said, “Wake up Romeo. Rosalie this is my dearest friend Frankie, Frankie this is my most beloved confidant Rosalie.”

Rosalie extended her hand for him to shake, but he didn’t shake it, instead he took her hand in his and kissed it gently. Rosalie fought to control herself, the feeling of his warm lips sent her into this strange world of ecstasy that she never knew existed.

Two months passed and the world finally seemed to be in order. Emmett and Paula were yet again officially going steady and even Rosalie was going steady with Frankie.

Rosalie had told Frankie a month into their relationship about her being a vampire, and true to Frankie’s style he said, “Well bite me already so we can forever started.”

Rosalie refused to bite him so early on, she kept reminding him of the fact that she couldn’t have children; that he would lose his entire family just for her; that maybe he wouldn’t love her for all of time; and to all of that Frankie answered her with, “I personally can’t stand kids; I need to get taken care of. People die. And what are you nuts? When will I stop loving you.”

Rosalie consented to the idea of turning him, but told him that he had to wait because Paula would one day be turned and maybe they could come up with an excuse for the both of them.

“Paula.”

“Yes Emmett?”

“Will you marry me? I mean it this time, none of the drama just you and me, for forever.”

“Of course you oaf! Ah damn.”

“What?”

“We have to plan everything all over again.”

“Just tell Alice, she has the whole wedding memorized.”

It was true, Alice had kept the wedding planning book that they had made safely taken care of and when she heard that the two were going to be having another wedding, she jumped on making all of the arrangements necessary.

The town started chattering about the upcoming wedding, and many people were wondering if the wedding was going to be stopped again.

Mindless small town gossip was all that it was, and that thought made it easier for Paula to bear, because there were many instances in which she just wanted to beat the shit out of the people that were talking about her and Emmett like they knew what was going on.

The day of the wedding came and went, it was just like it had been the last time; except you know, there were no interruptions.

Paula was glad that the wedding part was over, and she was now waiting for the honeymoon that her and Emmett were about to embark on.

Well, they weren’t really going anywhere they were just going to go to a cottage that Esme and Carlisle had built for them in the forest, about five miles away from their home.

Emmett carried Paula bridal style over the threshold, and into their own little cottage. As soon as they reached the bedroom he placed her on the bed and started taking off his clothes, Paula smiled and removed all the clothing that she was currently wearing, until she was left in nothing at all.

Paula climbed on top of the bed and made her way to where all the pillows were resting there, with her chest going up and down she had been waiting for this moment for forever.

Emmett slowly climbed over to Paula; he was scared about hurting her. Edward had told him that keeping control was hard, but not impossible and not to feel bad the morning after when he would surely see Paula’s body all bruised up.

Paula noticed the scared look on Emmett’s face; she didn’t want him to be freaking out about hurting her. She understood that there was a risk in being with him, but she didn’t mind it, so why should he.

She touched his face and said, “I trust you.”

The next morning Paula awoke feeling as if she was completely in bliss, but it was much colder than usual. That’s when she noticed that the cottage was missing a roof and a wall.

She looked over at Emmett and said, “Did we do this?”

“Yup. We broke our house.”

“Well I’ll be.”

“I think you should get dressed so we can go back to my house. Since we broke this one.”

The Cullen’s were surprised when they saw Paula and Emmett arrive at the house. Esme stood up and was about to ask what happened when she heard Edward say, “They broke the house.”

“You what?! How’d you do that? She’s human, how is she alive!”

“I do not know. I don’t remember us breaking the house, I was too lost in the moment, but it did happen. So can we stay here?”

“Of course you can, but you can’t be having sex. I don’t want you to break this house too.”

Paula and Emmett tried to obey this rule, they really did but they just weren’t strong enough to resist their urges and had sex several times during that day, that is until Emmett broke a window and Esme told them that if they had sex one more time under her roof that she would do something mean.

She didn’t specify what the “mean” thing would do, but they had never heard Esme say anything along those lines so they figured that it would be best to listen to her.

Paula was beginning to feel restless she remembered that Bella had told her that she began feeling nausea and other symptoms of pregnancy within a week of her having intercourse with Edward, and Paula hadn’t felt a single one and it had been over a week.

One day, as Paula was beginning to think that she could not have babies, a most extraordinary thing happened, she walked into the kitchen to grab a slice of pizza and the smell of it made her puke.

“EMMETT!”

“What?”

“I just threw up.”

“Should I get you a prize?”

“No! I threw up. Ya know? Bam chika wa wa.”

Emmett was shocked he had hoped that Paula would be unable to have children so he wouldn’t have to go through what Edward went through with Bella but when he saw her smiling so proudly at the fact that she was carrying a baby Emmett, he couldn’t help but be happy. She is going to have his child, and damn it he is going to be the greatest husband and father ever.
