I Counted My Blessings, Now I'll Count This Curse

number five

After what had happened with the girl, I swore to myself that I would never, ever kill someone again. I was disgusted with myself for letting it happen, but also very confused.

Why the hell would I crave blood?

Sure, I had heard stories about horrible creatures, coming straight from hell, who needed blood to survive.
But really?
That couldn’t possibly be true, right?

I also started to notice other things apart from the blood craving.
For one, it was very weird that all of a sudden everything was so detailed.
My sight had always been normal, not perfect or divine.

Breathing didn’t seem to be necessary anymore, it kind of hurt my throat actually.

My speed was incredible.
After I had killed the girl, I had ran, fast

I ended up in the richest part of town.

It was the only place in London at that time that didn’t reek with the smell of blood
I couldn’t take any risks.

I had been pacing through an abandoned mansion, it’s owners were probably somewhere far away from here in some place that the disease hadn’t reached yet, when I saw an image in a mirror.

I gasped, my eyes widening.

The girl staring back at me was beautiful.
Her auburn brown hair fell upon her shoulders graciously, looking absolutely perfect.
Her face was flawless.
Her eyes were a dark shade of purple.
She stared at me in a way that showed me she was a shocked to see me as I was to see her.

How could someone so beautiful even exist?

Without thinking, I moved my hand towards the mirror to touch her.
She mimicked my every move.

I stood frozen to the ground beneath the soles of my thin shoes.
No way in hell..

Just to be sure, I took a step to the left.
As expected, the girl in the mirror did the same.

Didn’t see that one coming..

How did this happen?
What had I turned into?

I found out exactly what I was about 300 years later

---

I started travelling after that day in London, the day that I started finding outwho what I had become.
First I went to Paris, France.
It seemed that my swimming techniques had also improved tremendously.
It only took me 2 hours to cross the 28 miles between England and France.

I stayed in France till 1750.
I then went to Germany, where I “lived” till, well, now.
1965.

Did I mention I don’t age?

It’s pretty creepy really, still looking like you’re 16 year old body while you’re actually 316.

Anyway, since I also don’t sleep (uhu), I read a lot.
About myths.
Which aren’t really myths.
Turns out, I, Sapphire Mary Josephina Roberts, am a vampire.
