Reminisce on Memories

Chapter One

Nate's POV

It's been two summers. Can you believe it? Two summers. The summer before last, I had fallen completely and irrevocably in love with Shane Grey. Yes. The Shane Grey. I love him. I love him. I'm completely in love with him and, surprisingly enough, he loves me too. We had decided, well Shane had decided, to keep our relationship on the down low. He thought, because we were both guys and new to the business, we should wait a while to be open about how relationship.
I should explain what I mean by "new to the business." Last year, at Camp Rock, Jason asked Shane and I if we wanted to do the Final Jam together, because, even though we were cabin mates, he felt left out. Jason is another reason why we haven't came out. He doesn't know either. Nobody knows except us, and truth be told, I like it that way. Its like our own little secret. As much as I wish I could be honest to my mum and my friends and as much as Shane wants to be honest to Brown and his family, we choose not to be.
We had won Final Jam with our song "Tonight." It was a hit; and not just with the crowd at Camp Rock. It was Connect Three first world wide hit. Connect Three were popular with teenage girls around the world. They were at every show, every signing and every appearance. They were so dedicated. They loved us.
And this brings me to present time and why the three of us; Jason, Shane and I are sitting in a limo on the highway to Camp Rock. Shane had become such an arrogant, pig headed creep. I couldn't help but love him, but I also couldn't help but be concerned. Jason was playing tetris on his cell phone, I was listening to our demos on my ipod and Shane was staring blankly out the window. His checked guitar case, that I had got him for his birthday last week, was resting between his legs. The fact that he was annoyed was written all over his face. His recent "diva" behavior had resulted in our manager canceling our summer tour, and sending, no banishing Shane to Camp Rock for the summer, in an attempt to cool his jets. I pulled my headphones off my head and placed them on the seat next to me.

"Shane, are you okay?" I broke the awkward silence in the limo.

Shane looked at me curtly, before turning to look back out the window.

"Do you think I'm okay, Nate?" His statement dripping in arrogance.

I was taken aback by what he said. I studied my hands, which were folded in my lap.

"YES!" Jason's voice exclaimed, making me jump.

"What?" Shane asked him.

"I beat my high score!" Jason answered excitedly, grinning from ear to ear.

Shane groaned, and I laughed. Jason always knew how to lighten a mood. Jason grinned again before turning to Shane.

"What's wrong?"

Shane turned and looked at Jason.

"I don't want to waste my summer at some camp!" He shouted angrily. "I'm Shane Grey for crying out loud."

I was getting so frustrated with him. I groaned and argued back.

"Hey man, we used to love this place. Last year, we were campers," I told him, trying to be as enthusiastically as possible.

"Yeah!" Jason chimed in. "This is where 'Connect 3'.... connected." I half laughed and continued.

"And you get to see your Uncle Brown," I added cockily. I knew how he felt about his uncle Brown.

"Not a selling point," he huffed. Kevin raised his eyebrows at him.

"You're the bad boy of the press, and the label has a problem with that, which means we have a problem with that," I told him, chewing my lip.

"Actually, I don't really have a problem with that," Jason said shrugging. I glared at him, making him change his mind. "We have a problem with that!"

"This camp thing is supposed to fix that. It's good PR. So do your time. Enjoy the fresh air, (inhales) get a tan," I said sarcastically, smirking at him. I felt kind of bad. I didn't want to see him go, but I was sick of his behavior.

"Oh and can you make me like a birdhouse or something?" Jason grinned. Shane looked at him like he was totally brainless.

"One word, payback!" Shane threatened.

"That's two words," Jason told him. Shane muttered some profanities before climbing out of the limo slamming the door.

"Oh! By the way, we told the press you'd be recording a song with the winner of final jam!" I called out to him. His head appeared at the the open window.

"What?" Shane yelled.

I sat back and put my seat belt on. I grinned at him and waved like a kid. I saw him scowl at me as we drove away.

As we drove down the Camp Rock driveway, I pulled my cell out and sent Shane a text.

I'm sorry Shane. I love you.

After a little while, I received a reply.

Love you too.

I smiled to myself.

"What are you smiling at?" Jason asked me, looking up from what I guessed was another round of tetris.

"Nothing," I smiled again. "Absolutely nothing."
