Australia

Chapter Four

Samantha’s POV
The song finished and the stage was plunged into darkness. After a few moments a single spotlight lit up the piano. Nick was perched on the edge of the seat. He began playing the opening keys to “Fly With Me.” A spotlight went to each member of the band as their instrument was introduced. Joe was last to be illuminated; the spotlight making him glow.
“Fly With Me” came to an end and the stage went dark again. The crowd continued our chant from before. A flash of light and the stage was once again swarmed by light. Joe walked up the centre to the beat of “Tonight.” He began singing.

Well, here we are again.
Throwing punch lines, no one wins
As the morning sun begins to rise, we're fading fast
And we won't work this out.

Joe started jumping up and down to the beat; Nick and Kevin joined him and so did the crowd.

No, we're not gonna work this out tonight
(We won't work this out)
No, we're not gonna make this right
So I'll give a kiss and say goodbye
(Give a kiss goodbye)
'Cause we're not gonna work this out
Tonight

Every single word's been said (Whoa oh oh)
Broke each other's hearts again (Oh whoa oh)
As the starlit sky begins to shine, we're breaking down
She screams out

No, we're not gonna work this out tonight
(We won't work this out)
No, we're not gonna make this right
So I'll give a kiss and say goodbye
(Give a kiss goodbye)
'Cause we're not gonna work this out
Tonight

The crowd was dancing. The boys were all smiling and singing.

(Ohh, Ohh, Ohh, Ohh,)
We don't have to fight
Tonight
(Ohh, Ohh, Ohh, Ohh,)
We just gotta try
Tonight
We don't have to fight
Tonight
We just gotta try

With that Joe ran up and slid right to the end of the catwalk on his knees, stopping right in front of me of me and Tash. He closed his eyes and leant back.

TONIGHT

He opened his eyes and grinned into the audience. He grabbed a hand. My hand and linked his fingers through mine. He looked at me, his beautiful brown eyes wide. He then smiled and winked at me. I started breathing funny, as Joe started singing the echo to his brother.

No, we're not gonna work this out tonight
(We won't work this out)
No, we're not gonna make this right
So I'll give a kiss and say goodbye
(Give a kiss goodbye)
'Cause we're not gonna work this out
Tonight

H e kissed the back of my hand and let go; standing up and bouncing his way back to his brothers.

Well, there's no need to fight, we're just wasting time
(Tonight)
If you give it a try well then maybe you'll find
(We might work this out)
Well, we know we're in love so let's keep it alive
(Keep it alive, keep it alive)
(Tonight)
I'm starting to see the morning light
We finally worked this out

“This will be our last song for the night,” Nick announced, when Joe couldn’t get it out. “In dedication to where we are; this is “Australia.” Nick thumped Joe on the back, which must have brought him back to reality. The music started up, and Joe once again wandered down towards me.

You never listen to me
I know I’m better off alone
Everybody knows it’s true
Yeah, we all see through you
No it won’t be hard to do
Throw away my stuff from you

Nick and Kevin walked down to join him. Joe sung into the crowd, arm spread out to the side; the smile on his face bigger than before.

So I’ll wait for her to come
She won’t break my heart
Cause I know she’ll be from Australia
She is so beautiful
She’s my dream girl.

Joe swayed to the chorus, waving his arm above his head; the crowd followed suit.

You were the one I thought I needed
I’m better off alone
Everybody knows it’s true
They know all your secrets
The only thing you knew was true
Has just walked out of your life
How does it feel?

Joe swayed again, with his arm above his hand, to get the crowd going again.

So I’ll wait for her to come
She won’t break my heart
Cause I know she’ll be from Australia
She is so beautiful
She’s my dream girl

He dropped to his knees and looked at me; grabbing my hand in his like he did before. He sung to me, right into my face.

She will be there to love and care
I know there’s no need to worry
The girl of my dreams
The one that will be
There to hold me when I’m down
Till she’s around
I’ll just wait

The only thing keeping me upright was Joe’s hand holding onto mine. i stared up at him; i was unable to breathe or sing along. He stood up and let go. I heard the faint sound of the final chorus before everything went black.
