Make This Perfect Again

By Your Side

It had to possibly be one of the best sleeps I had ever had. Waking up and having a beautiful girl wrapped up in my arms? Wouldn't you find that amazing? I didn't want to move, cause I didn't want Josline to wake up. I carefully unwravelled myself from her and tried to sneak out of her bedroom. But, that plan failed when my knee hit her bedside table. I grabbed onto my knee, biting my lip, so I wouldn't loudly swear.

"Josh?" Josline asked groggily. I looked over at her, she was sitting upright in her bed, looking at me. Her hair was sticking up in every-which direction. "What are you doing?" She asked. I put my leg back down on the ground.

"I was...I honestly have no clue what I was doing." I said. Josline laughed and looked at the clock next to her bed.

"Holy shit. It's 1 o'clock." She said, getting out of the bed.

"I'm up an hour early? No way!" I laughed, casuing Jaws to laugh aswell. She always had an awkward little laugh, but it was cute.

"You seriously get up at 2 every day?" She asked me.

"No, sometimes, 1:30." I smirked. Josline smiled and walked out of the bedroom, myself following. She turned on her coffee pot and grabbed two cups from her cupboards. She didn't even have to ask me if I wanted coffee or not, because she knew I liked the coffee she made.

"We are two lazy son's of bitches." Jaws laughed, pouring the coffee into the cups.

"Hey, you are not male!" I said, sitting down at the table. "I should know that." Josline's face turned a little pink. "But your punches tell me otherwise." I said, rubbing my arm.

"I did not punch you that hard!" Josline laughed.

"Pft, yes you did." We laughed again and then things were quiet. I looked over at Josline, who was just sipping her coffee. I looked down at my own cup, then back up at her. "Do you...want to talk about what happened last night?" I asked. Josline set her cup down on the table.

"No..." She said, "But it would be good to tell someone." She sighed and started to explain her story to me. I just sat in my chair and listened as she told me about how she was talking to Keith, which would explain why he had called me. She abruptly stopped saying something.

"And he was blaming me for losing..." That's when she stopped.

"For losing what?" I asked, trying to sound patient. She looked at me, and then I noticed her hands were shaking. "Josline? Are you okay?" She shook her head rapidly. I moved over into the chair next to her and took one of her hands, rubbing my thumb on one of her fingers. It seemed to calm her down enough. She looked at me straight in the eyes, like she always did when she was talking to me, but there was something different about her eyes this time. "Just...take your time." I could tell something was eating at her.

"Well...I've never told anyone this, and well, Keith probably knows because he heard the whole conversation..." Josline took a deep breath, my hand was still wrapped around hers. "I could be a mom right now Josh." She said.

"What...what do you mean?" I asked her, thoroughly confused. She sighed again.

"When...I was about 18...John and I...you know..." She stopped to see if I would understand. I did. I nodded for her to continue. "And I got pregnant." She said. I was a little shocked to be honest. It took me a while to wrap that around my brain.

"So, what happened?" I asked, finding it was the only thing I could ask.

"During a soundcheck, the lighting was really bad, and I was fairly sick, and I ended up falling off the stage." Josline said. She was starting to shake again. I could tell it was a hard subject for her to talk about. I thought about what Josline had said previously, about John blaming her for something. Then, I put two and two together.

"John blamed you for..." I couldn't even finish my sentence. Josline just nodded. I let go of her hand, and hugged her. "It's not your fault." I whispered into her ear.

"It feels like my fault." She told me. I backed up from her and put my hands on her shoulders.

"Josline, it's not your fault. And you shouldn't let that asshole tell you it is your fault." It was the best I could do to comfort her. "And maybe he finally get's the idea. I mean, you do have a mean right hook." I added.Josline smiled. "Ah, see, there's the Josline I know and love." I said. I lightly placed my hand on her cheek. I couldn't help but laugh when Josline turned pink.

"Josh, how come whenever I'm always super upset about something, you always know how to cheer me up? Even after 4 years?" I had to stop to think. I didn't know how I was able to do that.

"Just lucky, I guess?" I said. Josline smiled again.

"I think I'm the lucky one." She said.

"How come?"

"Because, I know you." She said. I couldn't help but smile. I quickly pressed my lips against hers. I think I was the lucky one however. Why? Because I had my girl back.

Almost....
