I am a ghost in this house. I don't bother those who live here. I am as quiet as a mouse. They don't even know I'm with them.
Except her. She sees me. At first, I think I frightened her. But now she doesn't mind me. She looks at me with her sad brown eyes and gives me a little smile. Then she goes back to what she was doing, as if I weren't even there. Just as it should be.
It's a sad smile she favors me with. As if she knows something I do not. Perhaps she does.
She once spoke to me. Only once.
"You're watching over me, aren't you?" she asked.
I suppose I am.
"Thank you."
I suppose I am.
