Ava Davis' parents have abused her since she was 13. A month before her 13th birthday, they started smacking her. A week after her birthday, it was full on beatings.

Later that year, she went on her school website and got a pen-pal. It was a school pen-pal so everyone at school got assigned another student at their school so everyone could mix up their group of friends and get to know each other better.

Ava decided to try and say hi. After a month they were like best friends. They promised, for some strange reason, that they would never ask for each others name. After a year, they stopped using their school e-mail addresses and starting using aim. Both of them set it up so that their messages would get sent to their cell phones so they could text when they wanted to.

Sometimes, they'll try to guess who the other person is. Of course, when they get it right, the other person always says no. All Ava knows is that her pen-pal is a guy that goes to her school.
