Scorched

Evalyn lives in a world where the sky is burned and survival is never a sure thing. She stands out from her subdued peers as a loud, easy-going spirit who sees the hardships as a chance to find the path to excellence.

Water is scarce but life goes on in a small village that is both similar and vastly different from the Old World. People still wear Converse but religion has been abandoned and, instead of husbands and wives, many have mates. Survival has pushed people to primitive means even as they live in the skeletal remains of an advanced society.

Surrounded by people who care only for survival, Evalyn tries to find what it means to be alive.
