Green Day, Why Am I In Your Room?

Chapter 4

I went over to the fridge. I groaned in disgust. The fridge reeked of rotten food.

"What is that smell?" Tre asked.

"Weeks of off food."

"Where are the garbage bags?"

"Second draw from the top." Tre quickly grabbed a bag before holding it open. "Just dump it all in here."

I pinched my nose tight while dumping the food into the bag.

Tre's face was still grimacing just as I finished and my fridge was empty. He quickly closed the bag before heavily releasing his breath.

"That really stunk." He opened the back door and chucked it out the back.

"Tre, we do get wildlife here." I grinned, walking outside to put it in the bin. I returned to Tre's smiling face.

"Dingoes and kangaroos?"

"No...foxes." I sighed in relief. "Thank god that is done." I looked at the empty fridge. "Well...I guess tap water it is." I got Tre and myself a glass, filled it with water and sat down at the table.

"Do you want to go out for dinner tonight?" Tre asked quietly.

I smiled inwardly, wondering if he was actually feeling shy.

"Of course," I said warmly. "Um - but...you don't really know your way around here."

"Eh. I'll guess." He smiled. "So - are you done packing everything up?"

"Yeah I guess so." I sighed, looking around my house. Me and Matt had saved up for it together. "Its hard to believe I won't come back."

Tre nodded. "We will visit. Whenever there's time or whatever."

We sat chatting at the table for a while, until at five o'clock I felt really hungry.

"Should we go now?" I asked. "There's a good fish and chip shop and a nice park nearby."

"Sounds perfect. Let's just go now."

We went outside to where my car was parked under the shelter. My ute, slightly dusty, seemed slightly crappy compared to Tre's convertible.

"Nice car," Tre commented.

"What the fuck? Its a ute!?" I exclaimed.

"Yeah - but its a new model. I like it." He smiled.

I stared at him for a few moments before he couldn't help but laugh. "Seriously, Tash. Let's just go."

I grinned and started up my car.

On our way I noticed Tre admiring the fields and fields of green grassand dairy cattle, before we drove a little more into suburbia and then into town.

"This place is so nice!" Tre exclaimed, hopping out of the car once we had stopped.

I smiled, going inside.

"Hamburgers and chips fine?" I asked.

"I eat anything and everything," he said with a grin.

I ordered, patiently waiting while it was prepared. When it was done, Tre and I went back outside, Tre going to open the car door.

"What the hell? The park's only a little walk away, dumass." I grinned, locking my car.

"Walking?" Tre whined. "I'm tired already."

"C'mon, its just down here." The town was relatively quiet. We went through an outdoor plaza complete with trees and fairy lights before arriving at our destination.

"What the fuck? There's so many fucking tulips!" Tre said in amazement, looking at the park in amazement.

"Yeah - our town has this thing called Tulip Time - this park's tulips go into full bloom and all the old peeps travel in from the city to see them all and waddle around." I rolled my eyes. "Its always hell here ... so many people everywhere!"

Tre grinned. "Ah, here's a nice spot." We settled on the fresh lawn, the air pleasantly warm.

I bit into my hamburger hungrily.

"This is so good," Tre said. "Not so greasy either."

I smiled, taking another bite, and putting it down.

Tre looked at me intently.

"You have sauce on your face."

"Where?" I said indignantly.

He leant forward and kissed me, moving his face back a centimetre. "Just there."

I smiled. "So do you." I kissed him again on the lips.

"I think there's still some there."

Soon we were entwined in a passionate kiss.
