The Wrong You Like

Reality.

"Los Angeles! You guys we're fucking amazing! I love you all thanks!" John called out into a microphone, I clapped excitedly from off stage waiting for The Maine to come off, All Time Low's techies came on rearranging things at an amazing pace. I hugged Kennedy who was disgustingly sweaty and beaming from the adrenaline of the performance.

"That was amazing!" I gushed he squeezed his arms tight around me and I shut my eyes tight, I heard someone clear their throat and opened my eyes to see John with a crooked smile hanging on his face, Kennedy groaned and ran to high-five Jared, I could overhear him saying it was their biggest show ever. I smirked a little walking into John's open arms and my right hand gently held his face and I gave him a little kiss. "Very impressive Mr. O'Callaghan," I smiled.

"You know I do what I do," He added some form of ebonics and kissed me again, he pulled my hand off his face and intertwined our fingers lovingly. I felt my cheeks blush as he pecked my nose before walking our hands still together to the dressing room.

"Nice show!" Came from everywhere, John mindlessly thanked him and I wasn't paying much attention. All I could feel were the tingles shooting up my arms causing goosebumps from his thumb tenderly moving back and forth across the back of my hand.

"Come with me," He whispered smiling a little bit, I raised an eyebrow in curiously. He smirked knowingly and we weaved through the maze of the building ending up in an empty storage room with wires hanging from the ceilings creating a canopy of black and neutral wires. I smiled as his hand slipped from mine and he looked for the exit, eventually pushing through a back door

"You know, last time I checked the regular doors still worked," I laughed hoping I could climb through the tiny door, it must have only come to my hips. John cleared his throat as we came out in a back alley with vines wildly growing all over a chain link fence, gravel on the paved ground.

"Last time I checked, you weren't the girl to do the regular things in life," John came back with a playful smile on his face.

"Touche," I shrugged looking up at the perfectly clear night sky, despite the fact there were city lights everywhere and the fact it was Los Angeles and there was a cloud of smog above us, it was like everything was crystal clear. Shapes were defined and the sharp air sobered you with each breath.

"I wanted to show you something," He smiled excitedly, fishing around the empty air for my hand. I laughed and finally placed it in his, we had to drop hands soon enough just to hop over the fence again. I laughed when I finally jumped down.

"Are you going to murder me or something?" I asked sarcastically, which John ignored and mouthed directions to himself, soon we came to a path and the path led up a rocky hill. It was an incredibly steep heel, steps I took were like I was on a giant stairclimber. Finally on top, we were out of breath, but not sweating (anymore than John already was) I took deep breaths. "I should, uh, quit smoking," I laughed.

"Yeah seriously," He answered back breathily, before I could examine where we were I felt two big hands over my eyes and I couldn't help but giggle, they were warm, cooling from his show and strenuous activity.

"Are we in fifth grade again?" I asked laughing a little, biting my lip desperate to see what he wanted me to see for the simple fact he wanted me to. I felt the wind blowing through my hair, it blew straight through my light grey cotton dress and a chill ran up my spine.

"We can pretend," John whispered, his lips so close to my ear his words vibrated. So close if felt like there was nothing else, no one else, I bit my lip again and lightly pulled his hands off mine spinning around. His eyes were glowing with a jubilance and I smiled content with the moment kissing him lightly.

"I really missed you," I whispered putting my cheek on his. I could feel the slightest bit of stubble making me laugh to the fact that John finally had facial hair.

"I missed you too, but look at this," He said turning me around and showing me the perfect view of everything. For a moment I thought I could see the ocean before reason came to me, the world looked tiny under us and the wind only added to the sense of greatness.

"Wow, it's so beautiful," I said finally after a moment of silence, it really was. I felt his arms wrap over my shoulders and his head rested on my shoulders. I could feel his stare on my face, happier by my reaction than the actual scenery.

"I know you are," He smiled happily.

"You are so cheesy," I laughed sneaking out from underneath him, he raised his arms wondering what had just happened finally he conceded smiled brightly.

"But you love it," He smiled, it was innocent and childlike and I couldn't help but laugh. I nodded and returned into his embrace, I looked up at him, our eyes locking in something deeper than skin and blood.

"I really do," I whispered. I saw his eyes flutter as his face leaned down into mine and for some reason I was brought back to when I was thirteen, my very first kiss. The fluttering in my stomach for anticipation of the kiss, the feeling of another person on your lips. I felt something vibrate and both of our eyes flew open and then down to John's pocket and he cursed.

"Hello?" He asked clearly annoyed. I heard someone's voice, yelling on the other line and I rested my head on his chest breathing in air like I had never done it before and just listening to his heart and the vibrations of his words. "What do you mean, yeah we'll be right there." He hung up and I looked up curiously. "Apparently Kennedy's having some emotion crisis and we have to leave early," John said grabbing my hand and leading me down.

We made our way down cautiously and hopped the fence, somehow easier the second time around. I saw Garrett on his phone angrily yelling at someone on the other line, he was using his index finger and furiously pushing an imaginary button with every word he was saying.

"What I am saying is that if someone is going to fuck with my best friend I'm going to fuck right back!" Garrett yelled, and my eyebrows raised looking around for Kennedy. I saw Kennedy taking up a whole row in the van, people crowded around him, I slipped away from John's grip and hurried next to him.

"Kennedy are you okay?" I asked feeling his head and making sure he didn't have a fever. He seemed to be in some catatonic state, glazed over and staring that roof of the van. I looked desperately to Jared and Moose who were crowded around him. "What happened?" I asked.

"I don't know, he was on the phone and then suddenly, this," Jared shrugged using his hands pointing to Kennedy. I didn't know what to do, I grabbed Kennedy's phone loosely clasped by his hand and looked at recent calls. I saw Sunday's number and knew something had to be up.

"She's late," Kennedy mumbled a couple of times before actually getting loud enough that anyone could hear him. I rushed back to his side, Garrett and John were whispering between each other and looking in at Kennedy.

"What Kenny?" I asked biting my lip.

"She's late, you know, like pregnant," Kennedy asked raising his head and looking at me, desperate eyes shifting back in forth on the brink of tears. I hugged him tightly as everyone got awkward.

"I'm so sorry Kenny," I whispered rubbing my hand on his skinny back, he felt limp in my arms and he pushed me away, but held me at a distance to where we could see each other's faces. He sat up and stuffed his face into his hands desperately ruffling his hair.

"I can't be a dad, I don't know how to be, Evan, I'm twenty-one years old!" Kennedy would've yelled, but it seemed like he couldn't produce voice. He started hyper ventilating and I grabbed onto his shoulders and held him still.

"Kenny, Kenny! Breathe. You would be a fantastic father, also you don't know what's up, you have to see her and talk to her because you don't know, you know? It could be a mistake, a false positive, you just can't be sure," I said sternly but calming, his shoulders shrunk as he nodded off into space.

"Yeah, I need you to do me a favor," Kennedy looked in my eyes and I raised my eyebrows as if to ask what it was. "I need you to come with me, I can't face her alone. I know you have that shoot, but I need you Evie, I really do," He seemed desperate and I brushed his hair with the back of my hand.

"Let me call my boss, but I'll be there," I smiled. He nodded and crashed back into the seat. I saw John, Garrett and Pat filling in Tim on the phone, I grabbed my phone and dialed my would-be manager.

"Evangeline! Dear, so excited for Saturday! I can almost guarantee you that contract," I heard Chanel Peur's voice on the other line, probably still at work drinking champagne cost how much I make in a week.

"Chanel, you know that this has been my dream forever and that I'm committed, but I'm having a family emergency! I was wondering if I could still sign and if I could skip out on the shoot. I'm so sorry! I have to be there for my brother," I asked letting desperation shine through my voice.

"Dear, there's always a family emergency, just not usually this early in the relationship. What is it rehab? Drugs? Alcohol?" She asked as if I was trying to con her or something.

"Chanel, my brother got a girl pregnant and he's panicked I can only imagine what she's going through by herself. My mother's catholic and about to have a heart attack, I need to go home, please I would be honest with you if it were anything else. You know I would," I said trying to convince her dancing a little as if I needed to get all my emotions out.

"Dear, we'll talk. You seem like a good one, you really do, so I'll let you be the exception to my rule, the next shoot I schedule you for, you will attend and you will stun. As for your contract, be in my office next week. If you disappoint me, I will ruin you and make sure you will never work as a model ever again," She said ominously.

"Oh my goodness! Thank you so, so much! No I won't! You won't be sorry!" I said with a huge smile on my face. I felt like doing a victory dance, but that might be a little inappropriate considering the circumstances.

"Alright dear, call Caroline and schedule an appointment, best wishes," She said like a french song and then hung up on me. I looked at the phone and saw John sitting in the driver's seat with an empty passenger seat. Luckily enough this was The Maine's last show on All Time Low's tour and they were being replaced by the Summer Set.

"Let's go," I said smiling, but returning to concern when I saw Kennedy sleeping in fetal position. Even Pat and Garrett were pensive looking on and trying to figure out everything, John smiled and we turned onto the highway, heading back home.
