Returning to You

1 month into Senior year
I sighed as I closed my locker then turned around and leaned on it, observing the population of kids milling around trying to delay getting to class. I can’t really say anything though seeing as I am one of those kids, I don’t really want to go to class but I know I have to if I want to get good grades and I do, for my brother.
I stood up straight from my leant position and I turned right to start heading down the hall but a body collided with mine making me fall to the floor and them stumble into the lockers.
“Watch where you’re going Morten!” the person shouted gaining the attention of everyone in the hall, also making me sigh again as I grabbed my stuff. Standing up I look at the person in front of me as they glowered at me and I raise a brow before flicking my hair behind my ear
“I believe you should look where you are going also Haner because you could have avoided me as well” Haner growled lowly
“why should I look where I’m going, you should mind me” I rolled my eyes and nodded
“yes of course everyone should watch out for the almighty Haner because we all know he’s too stupid to do it himself now if you’ll excuse me” I said with great contempt before I moved around him and started down the corridor with all eyes on me, Haner still standing there fuming and speechless.
I arrived in Math and took a seat, we have a school which goes by the English curriculum which I find good because it means there isn’t as many classes to choose from. I pulled out my work book and opened it to a clean page and just sat there staring at the board waiting for the rest of the class to walk in.
As soon as the lesson was finished I was out the door and out of the building so I could walk over to the science labs. Unfortunately to get there I had to pass by where Haner and his friends hung out. Walking past them I ignored their presence but it seemed they couldn’t do me the same courtesy as I heard Haner shout
“oy Morten!” I groaned as I stopped and turned around as he and his group walked over to me. I noticed that the freshmen they had gotten to join them, was also with them though I knew that freshmen were supposed to be in class right now. I raised a brow as I looked at the kid and asked
“are you skipping?” the kid shrugged and replied
“yeah but we were only doing stuff I know anyway” I nodded but Haner obviously didn’t like that I was questioning the kid so he stepped in front of him and spat
“what he does is none of your business!” I raised a brow but kept the rest of my face expressionless
“of course it is, he is a freshmen and it is my job to make sure they are where they are supposed to be, as it should be yours as well” the group laughed and Haner smirked at me
“honey we are making sure he is where he is supposed to be, with us” I shook my head and turned around to start walking to the science building but he moved and stood in front of me preventing my exit
“excuse me” I said but he didn’t move and just kept grinning, leaning down slightly he said
“you know you might be hot if you lost all that properness and started having some fun”
“I have plenty of fun just not with you, you are not fun now kindly move” he stepped aside in a huff and I moved forwards again though I called over my shoulder
“if you aren’t in science Haner I’ll tell Mr Sharp and you’ll get detention so you can’t go off with that little band of yours” I heard them all protest but I ignored it as I walked into the building.
We were doing experiments, flame tests to be exact, a test by which you put a substance into a flame and the colour the flame turns determines what kind of substance it is.
I had already done two of the substances when Haner walked through the door. Mr Sharp, being the ever happy guy he is, said
“Brian boy why are you late?” Brian shrugged
“I needed to go to the office for something, this lady came in and got lost” I rolled my eyes at the obvious lie but Mr Sharp bought it and said
“well that was nice of you, why don’t you go partner with Jessica as she has no one to do the work with her” I looked up and started to protest
“Mr Sharp I don’t need any-” Mr Sharp waved me off
“Jessica you know we don’t allow you to work alone so Brian go and help her with the experiment” Brain walked over and sat in the seat next to me though moving it to as far as he could get it and he mumbled
“I so don’t want to be here”
“I don’t want you here either Haner so just shut up and let me finish this” Brian shrugged and rested his chin on his fist as he watched me do the experiment.
After the next two it started to get hot so I stopped a moment and pulled a hair band off my wrist and pulled my hair back before twisting it into a bun and securing it with the band, I moved my fringe out of my eyes and then started doing the experiment again. I felt Brian’s eyes on me as I worked and it was annoying me so I asked
“what is it Haner?”
“you have a tattoo?!” I frowned before I remembered the music note I had tattooed behind my ear which you never saw unless I put my hair up. I nodded
“yes I do, what of it?” he shrugged
“I never expected you to get a tattoo is all” I smirked
“there’s a lot you don’t know about me Haner now let me get on” he nodded and just sat back for the rest of the class as I finished the experiment, occasionally handing me a substance if I needed it.
