Returning to You

Brian’s POV
Everyone turned to look at me with expectant faces. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair before rubbing the back of my neck in agitation.
Matt came in the door and walked over to me and asked
“what in the hell just happened?” I groaned and rolled my neck before I looked at him and answered
“I woke up to Michelle screaming about Jessica sleeping with me and that was what we were doing, sleeping, then she started going on about how I was hers then she came out telling me that someone told her I was with Jessica and I got her to admit it was Gena” I glanced at Zacky then and saw his face fall before he sighed defeated, he and Gena had been having problems for a while but it seemed he hadn’t thought she would go this far. I looked back at Matt and carried on “then Jess got involved and they started arguing and Michelle tried to accuse Jess of sleeping with loads of people in school but Jess said that it was Michelle then Michelle got pissed and said that the Jacob incident was a cry for attention” I heard someone gasp and looking over I saw that Lacey had a hand over her mouth in shock
“how could anyone think that?” she asked quietly, shocked, Johnny put an arm around her and she clasped his hand in hers for comfort.
“Jess slapped Michelle and Michelle tried to get sympathy for it then you guys came down and Gena came in and supported Michelle then Val started in and Michelle left, and well you know the rest” they nodded and I looked around to see everyone had migrated into the room and were sat around in various places.
I settled myself on the sofa that I had previously been slept on wrapped around Jessica and I remembered the feel of her warmth in those few blissful moments of awareness before Michelle’s voice intruded.
I opened my eyes when a small hand was laid on my arm and I saw Lacey there looking at me sympathetically and slightly distressed
“we don’t believe Michelle or Gena you know, we’ve gotten to know Jessica and anyone could see that she would never do that, she seems really genuine” I nodded and smiled lightly in thanks while Zacky who had been looking into space suddenly asked
“why did Gena rip into Jessica like that?” we all looked at him and I saw Val and Lacey exchange a look before Val cleared her throat and spoke
“umm Zacky this isn’t the first time she said something to Jessica” Zacky looked at her confused
“what do you mean?” Val sighed and fiddled with her fingers
“well honey, at the party last night Gena came over to Jessica and just asked her if she was ‘fucking Brian’, her words, then when Jessica denied it she said that she was lying and implied she was a whore and that the Jacob thing was her fault for leading him on” Zacky looked at her in shock and I did too though not as much because Jess had told me something like that last night, I just didn’t know all that was said
“she really did that?” Zacky asked, floored, and Val nodded. Lacey frowned
“yeah sorry Zacky I was there too, it was just totally out of the blue and it shocked me, I had never seen her like that either” Zacky groaned and ran a hand through his short spiky hair
“why in the hell is she acting like this, the last few months she’s been bitchy and prissy, hell she keeps stealing my credit card and going shopping with Michelle, then she won’t hang out with us or sometimes she’s gone for a while then when she gets back she says she was with Michelle or a different friend” we all exchanged worried glances then, it sounded like she had been cheating and Jason being the idiot he is said it out loud
“man! She’s cheating on you Zacky!” Zacky’s head shot up and we all glared at him making Jason look sheepish and he backed into the wall.
Zacky looked round at all of us and asked
“is that really what it sounds like?” we all hesitated then nodded and Zacky groaned again before he got to his feet
“I’m gonna talk to her then I’m gonna get rid of her, she can’t act like this and I refuse to be cheated on, no matter how much I love the girl” we all looked at him sympathetically and I got up and followed him to the door leaving everyone sat there talking.
“you gonna be ok man?” I asked him and he looked at me sadly with a nod
“yeah I’ll be fine, I just gotta get this sorted then it will be done and I can get over it” I frowned
“Zacky it’s not that easy” Zacky glared at me
“I know that but I have to think it is or I’ll go crazy Brian” he groaned and smacked the door “god why did this have to happen, Gena was so perfect when I met her and she was so nice but she changed man” he looked at me as if I had he answer but I only shrugged
“I don’t know the answer, Michelle went the same way” Zacky thought on it and nodded before he pulled out his car keys and smiled grimly
“well off I go, wish me luck” I just nodded and watched as he got into his car and drove off.
I shut the door with a sigh and went o rejoin the gang in my sitting room.
Everyone left not long after and after a couple of hours I still hadn’t heard from Jessica and I was getting worried so getting up I grabbed my car keys and hopped into my car and started driving around to see if I could find her.
She wasn’t in her house or her tent, she wasn’t at my Pops house and she wasn’t at any of the guys. I just drove down streets hoping to catch a glimpse of her if she was walking but I could find nothing so I started going to places she would know from when we were kids like the school or the library until I started heading down a street which housed a park which was on the path home just past a cut through we used to use to get home and as I drove past I saw a figure huddled on a bench.
Pulling into a parking space I turned off the engine and got out of the car and walked silently over to the park, hopping over the low fence, and walked to the bench and sat down. The figure never looked up but I would know that hair anywhere and it currently cascaded all around her looking windblown and wild.
“Jess?” I asked tentatively and the figure shuddered before she lifted her face and I saw wet tracks going down her cheeks and my heart melted at the sight “aww Jess” I said roughly and pulled her towards me into a hug and I felt her body tremble and shake as she let out a series of sob and I could feel her tears through my shirt though I didn’t really care.
I held her until the sobs abated then the tears stopped flowing and she pulled her head up and looked at me sadly
“I hit someone” she said and I frowned and brushed some hair away from her face
“I know honey, it’s not your fault though, she was a bitch and then when Gena hit you I wanted to hit her, Zacky has currently gone to break up with her” Jessica gasped
“oh no it’s not because of me is it!?” she looked horrified ad I shook my head
“no Jessica it’s because she has become a bitch and we are pretty sure she is cheating on him” Jessica frowned
“why would she do that, Zacky’s a sweet guy” I chuckled
“he would love to hear you call him that” Jess smiled lightly and I stood up and tugged her hand
“come on Jess let’s get you home, no one blames you for anything and you shouldn’t either, let’s get you to your place and you can get some sleep ok?” Jessica nodded and got up following me to my car, not releasing my hand.
She got in the car and we set out for her house.
Pulling up outside I looked at her and asked
“do you want me to come in with you?” Jessica looked up at the house then sighed and looked back at me
“no thank you, I should go in myself plus you need to go home as well, I know you guys have to work some more on the album and stuff so you carry on home, I’ll be fine” I looked at her sceptically but nodded and told her
“I’m only on the other end of the phone if you need me ok?” she nodded and hugged me goodbye before she got out of the car and walked over to her front door and walked through with a final wave in my direction before I changed gears and headed home myself.
