Returning to You

Jessica’s POV

I sighed with a smile on my face as I carried the latest bunch of roses Brian had given me to the Baby’s room and placed them on the dresser.
Looking around the room I giggled with happiness seeing that it was all decorated and the furniture up. Thinking back to the day it was put up made me laugh again.
The guys had come round after I got the delivery and got all their tools out of their trunks, it was funny watching the army come in when most of it simply needed one screw driver and then they all sat around putting it together and arguing over where it should go and how it should be put together. Jimmy and Johnny got in a scrap which was funny considering the difference in size.
I stopped laughing, thinking of it, when I felt the Baby kick. I groaned and placed a hand over that spot. I was 5 months along now and knew that the baby would have arms and legs but I didn’t think it would suddenly decide that kicking Mommy was a good game.
I shook my head and looked down at my large baby bump and told the Baby off
“Baby quit kicking Mommy, if you continue I will make sure that uncle Jimmy gets first dibs on holding you, we all know he will drop you so if you don’t want that I suggest you stop ok?” I spoke like it could hear me though I knew that the Baby couldn’t but it was comforting talking to it.
I jumped slightly hearing a honk outside but walked downstairs and grabbed my purse as I made my way outside to where Brian was waiting with a grin.
Today is another scan and I reckon it’s the time where we find out the sex of the baby, I didn’t really know if I wanted to know but it would be better calling it a he or a she rather than an it for a change.
I lowered myself into the car and Brian grinned at me which I returned before he pulled away and drove to the hospital.
Lying on the examining table with my shirt once more pulled up under my boobs, boobs that had gotten bigger and more sensitive lately, I watched the doctor as he rolled the wand around looking for the Baby.
He must have found it as he smiled and pressed a few keys on the keyboard before looking at us and asking
“well do you want to know the sex of the baby?” Brian and I looked at one another
“do you?" Brian asked, I bit my lip thinking it over before I nodded
“yeah it would be good, do you?” Brian nodded emphatically
“yeah! I’ve been waiting for this” I giggled but looked at the doctor who grinned back
“ok then let’s see what you have” he said and concentrated on the screen again, moved the wand a bit more before turning the screen towards us and saying with a smile
“congratulations, you guys are having a baby boy” I stared at the screen shocked but slowly a grin spread to my face
“a boy?” I asked to confirm and he nodded before pointing to something on the screen
“you see that? That isn’t part of the umbilical” I looked closer and giggled seeing it’s definitely a boy.
I looked over at Brian and saw him gazing at the screen and smirking proudly. He looked at me and said with a wink
“yep it’s definitely a Haner” I laughed and smacking his arm lightly before looking at the doctor and asking
“can we have a print of that?” he nodded
“yeah sure, clean yourself and pick it up from the reception desk” I nodded and Brian handed me the tissues then helped me off the table and we made our way to get the pictures.
Stepping out of the hospital Brian jumped up and yelled out a hoot. I laughed as I watched him, when he was on the ground again he pulled out his phone as we made our way to the car. I looked at him confused
“who are you ringing?” I asked and he glanced at me before grinning
“the guys of course, they wanted to know as soon as we did” I giggled but scolded
“Brian they are doing an interview, you can’t ring them” Brian shrugged
“I don’t care and nor will they, they said I could interrupt anyway so it’s fine” I rolled my eyes but let him carry on as we got into the car and sat there while he spoke
“guys?”
“is this on speaker?”
“I’m a Dad to a Baby boy!” I heard yells on the other end and chuckled to myself as I reclined in the seat and rested my hands on my tummy with my eyes closed.
Brian finished telling them about it then closed his phone and asked
“do you wanna go get something to eat to celebrate?” I opened my eyes and looked at him seeing an ecstatic grin on his face. I smiled and nodded and he grinned wider before putting the car in gear and heading off to find somewhere to eat.
We came to a little Italian place and went inside where we were seated and ordered our food.
Seeing me order something healthy Brian frowned
“when did you go healthy?” he asked and I shrugged
“when I found out that it was good for the baby, I didn’t want anything I ate to harm it so I started eating better” he nodded but then said
“hang on you ate subway!” I laughed
“yeah I do let myself have some nice things, I really like chocolate pancakes at the moment, they have to be my favourite craving” Brian laughed
“I can see why, I thought Hannah hid the chocolate though?” I rolled my eyes
“she can’t hide chocolate form me unless she eats it, chocolate is a scent I am uniquely tuned to” Brian laughed again and I joined in before we carried on eating our food and talking.
